d2v16DKG
By far, probably the best, most consistent game the Hawks have played all season!! I kept expecting them to blow it because that's how I'm conditioned now and they didn't! And the thing is, everybody played great and helped out and passed the ball. AND ONLY 11 TURNOVERS!!!!!!!! Guys, where has this team been all season?? I just hope we can keep it going against the Knicks!
Premium Member Diesel Posted March 13, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted March 13, 2003 Maybe Stotts can coach? Maybe Stotts will have the Hawks go on an unprecedented Run where we fulfill the Babcock Promise. What if this team shows up from now til the end of the season with DJ coming back for the last 4-5 games? I told you guys before that we had a favorable schedule for the rest of the season. We're about 7 games back. I don't expect Milwaukee to remain where they are, they will either be passed by Washington, US, or the Knicks. NOt because their not good. Becuase their schedule will get harder and they don't have the goto guy anymore. Question is, if we do make the playoffs with an unprecendented run, do we keep Stotts? Gray Mule
Yes !! If Hawks make a run from here and make the playoffs, there is no way we fire the coach! The light at the end of the tunnel is but a glimmer, but it is still there. Hawks will have to really EXPLODE for the remainder of the season to make it. Our playoff hopes may be on life support but, we ain't dead, not yet, any way! We keep winning and hoping. Our rebounding was terrible last night but everything else was working as it should. Hawks seemed to have a plan last night and then they worked the plan and got the hoped for results. Each game and each team we face is different, so the game plan has to change every time we play. The little things make the big difference and we did the little things last night -- Lets hope we can continue. Keep that glimmer of hope alive !!!! Premium Member Diesel Posted March 13, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted March 13, 2003 It would be funny if we did make the playoffs. The East is in Chaos right now. Detroit, NJ, and Indy are all free falling. Orlando and Philly are making a move. Washington, N.O, and Milwaukee are being Wishy Washy. We are in a position to make a tremendous run and maybe surpass Washington, NY, and Milwaukee for the 8th place. IF so, I like our match up vs. Detroit or NJ. dj_me
The main concern would be after our next three or four games. We have a stretch there where we have to go against Philly, Indy, the Lakers, and a few others where it might get rough. If we are able to win games that we are supposed to and have a few upsets, I really believe it is possible for us to get in and be slight contenders (the underdogs, I love it). I really want to see what JT would do in the playoffs. I think he would be huge when it came time to get it done.
Premium Member Diesel Posted March 13, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted March 13, 2003 I would love it if we played together against those three teams. I think the Indy game will be easiest. They have forgotten how they won all those games. The Lakers and Philly will be tough... However, if we stay with our plan... I don't think we can be stopped by them. It's time for a streak. Guest
Maybe we can atleast come away with a decent pick and get a starting SG or some bench help for next season.
Gray Mule
See: Always look for the silver lining -- A good draft pick from Indy AND make the playoffs -- That would really be something!! By the way, the only way Hawks beat Indiana is for someone to steal the wheels off Miller's wheel chair so he can't knock down all those threes !!!! These Hawks have been together long enough now that they should not use the excuse of "new" team mates. Also, the coach has been coach long enough now so that he should know what he has to do, as a coach, to win the rest of the year. As these other teams continue to fall and if the Hawks can continue to win, anything is possible. It's going to be difficult to overcome our present won / loss record. As bad as things have been, it could have been a lot worse. Those teams that are in free fall right now may snap out of it and ruin our dreams of the playoffs. Then again, they may continue to loose and the Hawks may hit a hot streak and make it! WOW! Let's hope so!!!

dickaufan12
If they keep playing the way they did last night, and if everyone in the east continues to struggle, the Hawks would still have to win about 14 of the last 17 games to get in to the playoffs. Not extremely likely, but something we can all hope for.
Traceman
I mean they REALLY suck. We had an advantage on offense at 4 of the 5 positions all night. The one matchup where we didn't really have an advantage was JT v. GP and JT more than held his own in that matchup. The only reason they were even in the game was because we din't block out in the first half. The Knicks will present a bigger challenge. Reef won't get to waltz into the lane untouched and shoot that easy little jump hook and our perimeter guys won't be wide open all night. NY is by no means a great defensive team but they are a lot better defensively than the Bucks were last night. They are certainly more physical. If we move the ball and take care of it like we did last night we SHOULD win but time will tell. Hopefully, we'll keep it going.
Premium Member Diesel Posted March 14, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted March 14, 2003 Unfortunately, I think it's the Knicks who might grab that 8th spot. However, if we can play together, you never know. It just might be a tight run to the finish. Like Milwaukee/Orlando.
