jeddelong
There's talk the Hawks and Warriors are talking about a swap that would send the No. 11 to the Hawks for the No. 21 and a future first-round pick. The Hawks would then select Louisville's Reece Gaines at 11, and the Warriors would take Ebi at 21.
Blunt91
I hope that comes true but what's in it for golden state? and why would they pass the chance of getting Reece when they don't know if they can sign Arenas? I take it that our future 1strounder we are supposedly offfering is only lottery protected through the fisrt 3picks.
jezmund
I'm am sick of us trading future picks. We give them away like they aren't valuable. Who cares that we missed out on Amare Stoudemire, etc.? I'm sure Gaines is a good player but is he that much better than Diaw/Pavlovic?
Hawks4ever
it better be protected very well. the only thing I see in it for GS, is it might keep Arenas in town and they get a potential future star.
jezmund
seriously protected. I'm talking like the Pacers pick was protected to us. '1st year top 20, 2nd top 17, etc....'
emeans
We don't need to trade anymore 1st round draft picks to move up. This strategy is truely hurting the Hawks. We need to make sure we draft good in the spot that we are slated for the next 5 years.
jezmund
If they do indeed lose Arenas or just want a young BU PG, they might go for it. And if we did indeed get the #11, I don't think we should automatically pick Gaines. Our team isn't good enough not to consider the best player available if it is indeed someone else. Chances are that he would be the best available pick but I'm just saying, we shouldn't totally zero in on him. Gaines/Terry/Robinson/Reef/Ratliff????? Premium Member Diesel Posted June 25, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 25, 2003 I'm not sold on Reece. However, if Heinrich were to make it past the Knicks, I would be very happy to take him.
DJ_Money
At #11, I would take Barbosa over Gaines, if he's there. Still, I'm against trading away 1st Round Picks, seeing how it always ends up biting us in the ass. Send them Dickau or something expendable instead. Dukegotgame
If michael pietrus is there i think we should take him over just about anyone else. if that happens we NEED to think about a jt/dog/nazr for dre miller/odom. then sign a guy like maggette or pj brown. we would have a squad. id love to lineup.... miller pietrus odom reef theo with maggette and dj coming off the bench... talk about a total transformation... we would have a running, athletic team with a true floor general in dre.... prob. will never happen though
