I just wanted to actually see what could have been on paper one last time:

PG: Chris Paul

SG: Brandon Roy

C: Al Horford

PF: Josh Smith

SF: Joe Johnson

6th: Josh Childress

Point being?

Here are my TWO points:

1. If we had Chris Paul we would have won enough games to fall below Portland at pick #7 (therefore missing out on Roy)

2. With Paul (with or without Roy), JJ, Smith and Childress we would have not sniffed anywhere near getting Al Horford in the draft last year.

Would I like to have Paul for Marvin right now? Heck yea but you can't use that logic.

If we are being revisionist - why not add any of these players instead of Boris Diaw for our 2003 draft:

Round 1 after Atlanta:

Portland - Travis Outlaw, Starkville HS

Detroit - Carlos Delfino, Argentina

San Antonio - Leandro Barbosa (to Phoenix)

Dallas - Josh Howard, Wake Forest

Round Two after Atlanta's 1st round pick:

Cleveland - Jason Kapono, UCLA

L.A. Lakers - Luke Walton, Arizona

Washington - Steve Blake, Maryland

Seattle - Willie Green (to Philadelphia)

Milwaukee - Keith Bogans (to Orlando)

Utah - Maurice Williams, Alabama

Indiana - James Jones, Miami

New Jersey - Kyle Korver (to Philadelphia)

At least give use our speculative draft picks that we pick back up!

(Likely our 2006 pick on Rajon Rondo or Marcus Williams or Hilton Armstrong and our 2008 pick.)

Why do people keep posting this silly stuff?

With both Chris Paul and Joe Johnson on the team the Hawks would have never finished bad enought to have a top 5 pick in the draft the following year. That means we probably would have never had the opportunity to draft Roy or Horford.
