Premium Member Diesel Posted April 17, 2008 Premium Member Report Share Posted April 17, 2008 In all truth... Here's how it breaks down. Horford, Scola, Thornton, Moon, & Durant. I think if you ranked them... 1. Horf 1. Scola 3. Durant 4. Thornton 5. Moon I wouldn't be surprised to see them just give it to Durant because of name recognition.. however, both Horf and Scola are more worthy. Gray Mule
Within the past few days, I saw a posting where a group of 20 sportswiters had voted on their pick for ROY. (I believe it was ESPN, but I'm not sure) The results: Durant 17 - - Horford 3. Is this any indication of how the national voting will turn out? I wonder. I agree with Diesel. Horford should win. I believe he's earned it. When you consider all the stats, there can be little question. However, when you only look at one thing, points scored and forget the rest of it, we know who wins. When you look only at name recognition, we know who wins. When you ignore the impact a player such as Horford has had on his team, you do him an injustice. Nothing against Durant. He's a great scorer. I wouldn't trade Horford, even swap, for ANY OTHER rookie. I think he's the best. He has earned ROY. I will be very pleasantly suprised if he wins. ersimo2889
Certainly doesn't help Horford that Durant just scored 42 last night..
Plainview1981
Scola shouldn't be considered since he is nearly 28 years old.

Durant is a special talent as well. Even with all the hype that Durant has received, he is a special scoring talent. Scoring along doesn't win and Horford is a true champion. I think that would be a great question for folks on this board. Would you trade Horford for Durant. Can sombody set that up. I don't realy care whether Al wins the award. He has proved himself in my opinion, almost averaging a double double for the season. I would take Al over Durant. He is just what this team needed. Now we just need a big banger which sadly is what we all thought Sheldon would have been. Man, what a letdown. Hawk88
JackB1
I would take Al over Durant without thinking about it for more than a second. Averaging 10 rebounds as a rookie is harder than scoring 20 points. Remember 20 points is the same as 10 shots, so you are basically comparing 10 rebounds vs 10 shots made. Rebounds are all about effort, technique and desire. Points are all about getting open and taking enough shots. Look at it this way...... -There are 31 Players right now averaging 20 pts or better per game. -There are only 15 players averaging 10 or more rebounds per game. What do you think is harder?
