D'Antoni Has Reportedly Accepted Knicks Job

Great move for the Knicks alot of the good coaches are going left and right. With the players we have our on roster D'Antoni would have been the perfect fit but of course we have the worst front office in sports. The Hawks need to dump Woodson and get Avery Johnson.

Mike D'Antoni has accepted an offer to coach the New York Knicks, according to media reports.

The former Phoenix Suns coach, who was also sought by the Chicago Bulls, has accepted a four-year, $24 million deal to take over the Knicks, according to reports by Sports Illustrated and The Boston Globe, both citing a league source.

Two sources close to D'Antoni confirmed to ESPN.com that the coach has informed Knicks president Donnie Walsh that he's accepting New York's lucrative offer. The Knicks did not immediately confirm that D'Antoni is New York-bound.

ESPN's Stephen A. Smith had previously reported that the Knicks had outlined the offer.

D'Antoni takes over coaching duties for one of the league's most high-profile franchies -- and one that has fallen into disarray over the past two seasons under former coach and team president Isiah Thomas. Following a messy divorce with former coach Larry Brown, the Knicks went 33-49 in 2006-07 and 23-59 last season.

D'Antoni had two years and nearly $9 million remaining on his contract with the Suns, whom he led to two Western Conference finals. The Suns were eliminated in the first round of the NBA playoffs this season after trading Shawn Marion for Shaquille O'Neal.

The two-team chase for D'Antoni intensified when he talked to the Bulls in a late-evening conference call with team officials on Friday. And the Chicago Tribune reported that Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, who owns a home in the Phoenix area, planned to meet face-to-face over the weekend with D'Antoni.

D'Antoni has a 267-172 career coaching record with the Suns and Denver Nuggets. The Suns won at least 54 games in four of his five seasons and reached the Western Conference finals twice. He has a 26-25 record in the playoffs.

I hope this isn't another offseason of not making any moves. Other teams are hiring good coaches and we are left with Woodsen. If we plan to keep Woodsen then the ASG BETTER go out and find some good role player to add to this team. If they onlyplan to sign Smoove & Chill, then I no longer want to watch this team play.

Which coaches would those be?

Well Carsile , Larry Brown and Mike D'Antoni only some of the best coaches in the game let me guess you want to keep the worst active career win% coach in the NBA cmon now. There are good coaches out there and we are settling for one of the worst in the league its ridculous.

The Knicks are about to become Suns East. And that's not a good thing, because the Pistons win based on defense, and the Celtics win based on defense. A D'Antoni led team, with the mentality of "defense is optional" would get annihilated by those two teams. I hope the Knicks are ready for a few more years of futility. They might get to the playoffs once, and if it's not next year then it won't happen at all. If D'Antoni was feeling the pressure from Steve Kerr, just imagine the pressure he'll feel from the New York media, fans, and crazy Dolan.

Walsh's first addition is also his first mistake.
