ATLSmith
You know, that 19 year old, 6-5 SG the Hawks drafted in the 2nd round last year who can shoot. I wonder if they will bring him over this year. Here's an Analysis from last year: http://thepaintedarea.blogspot.com/2009/06/quick-analysis-of-sergiy-gladyr.html Here are his stats this year: http://www.eurobasket.com/player.asp?Cntry=ukr&PlayerID=69279 His scoring average has dropped from 15.4 to 9.4 points but he is getting 10 fewer minutes. Looks like he almost exclusively shoots the 3 (could be due to coaching...)
WraithSentinel
Some here say he is about a year away. Factor in that and many Euro players I believe look at the situation to see if they will be given time to play. I believe as long as Woodrow is here no Euro player has any chance of playing. Looks like he almost exclusively shoots the 3 (could be due to coaching...) He isn't ready for the NBA yet - bringing him over now would stunt his development. He's playing in the Spanish League, which is one of the top national leagues outside the United States (along with Russia, Italy, and Greece). Last year he was playing in the Ukrainian league, which is a third- or fourth-tier national league. Moving up to the Spanish league is why his minutes and stats have dropped. At this point, he's not ready to be a main option on offense yet in Spain, which is why he's being used mainly as a spot-up shooter. That being said, he's actually having quite a good year for a rookie in a league as competitive as Spain's. In other news, Cenk Akyol is actually having a very good first year in the Italian League, after years of languishing on the bench at Efes Pilsen in Turkey. Gladyr needs at least 1-2 more seasons in Spain before he'd be ready to be a contributing NBA player, but Akyol might be ready to contribute next fall. Joker
He has about three more years before we seriously look at bringing him over.

They have him listed as a SF at 6-6. Could possibly be take Mo's spot if Mo decides to leave. Here are his stats from this year if anyone's interested: http://www.eurobasket.com/player.asp?Cntry=TUR&PlayerID=56913

He probably wouldn't get minutes here unless there were a rash of injuries. He probably needs 1 more season of starting in Italy before he's ready to contribute on a decent team. He probably would crack the rotation on a lottery squad, though.
T21
... let me jump in and say somethin'... 1. Gladyr is definitely NOT ready! Kid has some talent but he's far from a "Finished product"... Having said this, I didn't want it to sound as if he had no future, because he's very young and there's huge room for his improvement... 2. Akyol is a GUARD! He can play both 1 & 2... he had a promising future, but he never made that final stride forward. If he arrives in the NBA his role would be very, very limited as he is too slow for NBA PG's and too weak for most of SG's, not to mention SF's as someone suggested (replacement for Mo). GameTime
It really was a waste of pick. We don't need to draft a guy that we don't plan on bringing in within the next 5 yrs.

I suggested replacing Mo because Akyol is listed as a SF. I checked out some video's and he does look more suited for the guard position. Well, he could still be used as trade bait. Especially if there's a team looking to rebuild and compete in 4 to 5 years.
