Moderators macdaddy Posted January 10, 2012 Moderators Report Share Posted January 10, 2012 Good interview with Chipper: http://blogs.ajc.com/atlanta-braves-blog/2012/01/10/bout-time-q-and-a-with-braves-third-baseman-chipper-jones/?cxntfid=blogs_atlanta_braves_blog For a guy I didn't like that much at first he has become one of my all time favorites and really one of the greatest Atlanta Braves in history. More than any current Atlanta athlete he exemplifies team first and doesn't get nearly the recognition he deserves. 1. Hank Aaron (he should be 1-5) 2. Bobby Cox 3. Chipper Jones 4. Phil Neikro 5. Dale Murphy Glavine, Maddux, Smoltz obviously but Smoltz and Glavine pissed me off. To me Maddux was the greatest of the 3 even though he wasn't here as long. Who'd I leave out? frosgrim
Consider adding Andrew Jones to the list. As much as he couldn't hit an outside pitch, the dude was one of the best center fielders ever. Considering he was playing in the tainted era, he really could cover the outfield and get to balls that almost no one else could reach. At the same time he'd get to the balls in great shape to make a throw. Guys like Jim Edmunds would dive, hurt himself, and not be able to make the next play.
