benhillboy
...for three point precision I mean. When I watch the kid, I can't think of many with a better, purer stroke. Just looking at the stats and wanted to get the board in on it. There are a few players he may never catch in makes, but clearly is a better three point shooter than: Kidd, Terry, Pierce, Billups, Rashard Lewis (?!), and Vince. There are only 2 career percentage leaders higher than he is who shoot/ shot anywhere close to as many as he does: Nash and Steph. Kerr, Hubert Davis (don't remember him being a marksman), Drazen Petrovic (RIP), Jason Kapono, Legs, Novak, Anthony Morrow (kinda surprising then not), and BJ Armstrong finish out the Top 10.Now we come to the players who I think are comparable with their All Time Ranks in makes followed by percentages:Ray 1st, 36thReggie 2nd, 47thPeja 11th, 32ndSteph NA, 3rdNash 21st, 9thGlen Rice 23rd, 35thMike Miller 30th, 20thDirk 24th, surprisingly NAKyle 35th, 11thI think he will ultimately hit more threes than the active group around him (Joe, Miller, Jamal). That's a lot of damn attempts for a career role player. The way I see it, he'll finish up as the 5th best three point shooter of All Time behind (my personal order) Steph, Ray, Reggie, and Nash. Steve doesn't look for his shot, almost embarrassed to shoot, so I'll bump him off and chisel Kyle's face on slightly ahead of Peja, who I hated. I don't know what to make of Klay Thompson yet, and I hate to penalize Dirk's percentage but I gotta. Thoughts? benhillboy
Not enough attempts in the 80s I guess but how could I forget Bird. I'm so sorry. For that matter, I don't know Love's stats but he's a monster. I'm rambling. Edited February 23, 2014 by benhillboy
tbhawksfan
It's a team game. Korver would be a great piece on a contender. On the Hawks he's just something to distract us while we don't win. I'd trade all the Korvers in the world for a chance to build a winning team. Guest
Pure shooters over the years, Kyle is definitely up there. Throwing stats out and just judging by what I've seen I'd say the group in no particular order is:BirdHodgesPriceKerrReggieMullinPetrovicPejaRiceNovak KaponoDell CurrySteph CurryKyle KorverRay AllenThose are my top guys. If I had to pick a Rushmore from them I'd say Bird, Petrovic, Kerr and Korver. Price, Dell and Hodges were the only guys that were missing from your list in my opinion. Premium Member Jody23 Posted February 24, 2014 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 24, 2014 Not sure what place he'll occupy in NBA history, but he's definitely the best shooter I've ever seen in a Hawks uniform.

I would go Chuck Person before Sean. Kerry kittles? Maybe at Villanova but I did not hear too much from him in the NBA. I could be wrong.

benhillboy
dont forget Kevin DurantTrue that. I peeped a Bleacher Report and can't believe I missed Dale Ellis. I think it said if there was a line back in the day, Jerry West would've gone crazy. Joe Johnson is quietly very prolific and Jamal is one of the most unique, definately the best 4-point player there ever will be. I don't know why I discount Hodges (we're related by last name) and Kerr. They were always so open, but they did kinda usher in the "spread the floor with shooters around your dominant wing(s)" type of attack. I don't remember too much of that in the 80's, so the 3 point specialist was born in Chicago as far as I know. Ray's shot has gone flat or something. He isn't Jesus Shuttles anymore.

Moderators AHF Posted February 26, 2014 Moderators Report Share Posted February 26, 2014 Oh Mahmoud Abdul Rauf was left off the list too by the way. He was an amazing shooter in college but mediocre in the NBA. He does not belong on this list. (How did LSU not win a championship with Abdul-Rauf/Jackson, Shaq and Roberts? At least an SEC championship?)

(How did LSU not win a championship with Abdul-Rauf/Jackson, Shaq and Roberts? At least an SEC championship?)From what I remember he had a slow NBA start but came on in the mid 90's. I agree he could have been better but for a while I think he was pretty good. Maybe my memory doesn't serve well but I thought he was pretty outstanding from outside as well as the ft line.I agree how did LSU not win with Rauf and Shaq and big Stan lol Edited February 26, 2014 by Spud2Nique
Premium Member turnermx Posted February 26, 2014 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 26, 2014 His career was derailed by the pledge of allegiance incident. He showed promise before then but that took the wind out of his sails...Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
benhillboy
Me and my cousins were talking about Shaq's LSU team's failures a few days ago. I'm about the biggest Shaq detractor there is so I'm not surprised, but I didn't know Stanley Roberts was on that team too, although he quickly proved he wasn't NBA material.
