Falcons look PITIFUL!

I sure hope this is not how the future is going to look for the Falcons.

The Atlanta Dream went to sleep, losing five in a row.  They finally

woke up and won the east.

The Atlanta Braves fell on their face recently and when they finally

pulled their head up to look, they were far out of first place and are

now having to battle just to secure a wild card spot.

Then, this happens.  Living in hopes that the Atlanta football team

could turn things around from last season's awful record.  They have

changed their coaches.  They have changed both the offensive and

the defensive line  Things were going to be better, weren't they?

Then, last night in Texas, the answer came.  Nothing has changed.

Regardless of which group of players are on the field, the offense

can't move the ball consistently.  With a porous run defense and a

non existant pass defense, scoring for our opponent looked easy.

Then, if that wasn't enough, our special teams did their part to ensure

that no part of the Falcons game had a professional look.

I would like to say that although you're correct it is still just preseason. They looked decent last week and looked completely flat this week....perspective.

I know.  It's pre season.  These games do not count.  Still, after

seeing our defense last season and then seeing almost the exact

same thing Sunday, what can we say?

Last season, our QB was the most hit passer in the NFL, so we are

told and we have no reason to doubt that.  also, our offensive line

couldn't open a hole for any running back.  They did look better when

they ran the ball, but not a lot.

Last season, Falcons couldn't get into the end zone, having to settle

for three when they hit the red zone.  Sunday, they couldn't get that close.

Rookie offensive tackle will be moving from right to left after the oft injured

left tackle will be lost for the season.  Already lost a starting LB for the year

before this.  We're falling like flies out there..

One thing about it.  When you are on the bottom of the pile, there is only one

direction you can go and that's up.

GO FALCONS !!

Not worried about jake at all, he will be fine at left tackle. Now I am worried about who they're going to put at right tackle tho, Holmes has looked better in the preseason but I just don't trust him. The guys who are hurt are guys that are always hurt so is it really that big of a difference? Shembo has looked really good so far in his action at linebacker and I already believe in Worrilow and Bartu.

I don't know about you guys but I wasn't expecting a Super Bowl this year anyway, but I do feel that with another solid offseason like this one and another good draft like this one we will be right there next year.

This team won't get back into contention until they develop some pass rushing talent.  That is a huge issue for the team and no amount of talented DB's can make up for the almost total lack of quality pressure from the DL.

That's y I said give us another offseason and we will be fine. There are guys like Greg Hardy, Jabbal Sheard, Cliff Avril, Justin Houston, Brian Orakpo, etc...that will be available in free agency. The team is looking better to me, much better depth and the offensive line is better as well in my opinion. Another good offseason and we will be a damn good team...one of the beat in my opinion.

Yeah.  It's pre season.  Still, the Falcons lose another one, 24-17.

Pass defense.  What pass defense?  Maybe a wee bit of pressure

from the defensive line / linebackers but, secondary still giving up

way too many receptions.

Lots and lots of penalties.

Whoa Gray...you're overreacting just a lil bit with this one. First team offense looked great and first team defense did a good job as well. 2 sacks crated by guys not on the line, that's kind of Nolan's MO. Then Hageman got in on the act a lil later on. Run defense looked stout with the first team and the touchdown they gave up was clearly just miscommunication. I couldn't care less about the score at the end of the game but we looked pretty damn good to me. Edited by jy23

Bottom line is, they still lost.  First unit, to begin the game, looked good.

Up until half time, things held together and we had to feel good about

everything.  How things changed in the second half!

For what ever the reason, their quarterback was able to complete pass

after pass, regardless of our coverage.  The only thing that stopped them

was when the Falcons were penalized for pass interference.  Secondary

was so out of place that they sometimes left the recievers wide open.

Then, Falcons were unable to move the ball.  If you can't pass and you

can't run, there is nothing left to try.

Yet, with all this, they did look better than they had before.  Just shows

you how bad they were to begin pre season.

One more exhibition game to get everything straightened out.  Then, we

open the season against the best quarterback in the NFL, the best coach

in the NFL, the best offense, defense and special teams ever in the NFL.

(If you don't believe this, just check out what the Saints believe)

GO DREAM!
