Playoff Seeding

So Im a bit confused on playoff seeding....

Say the Hawks, Pacers and Bucks all finish with a 42-40 record (Which isn't likely but possible)....The Hawks have the Tie Breaker over Milwaukee.....the Pacers have the Tie Breaker over the Hawks....Then Milwaukee has the Tie Breaker over the Pacers.

Which team finishes 5th,6th,7th?

From What I'm reading the Hawks are already locked into the 5th seed?

Three-Team Tiebreaker:
1. Division winner (this criterion is applied regardless of whether the tied teams are in the same division)
2. Best head-to-head winning percentage among all teams tied
3. Highest winning percentage within division (if teams are in the same division)
4. Highest winning percentage in conference games
5. Highest winning percentage against playoff teams in own conference
6. Highest point differential between points scored and points allowed

Milwaukee and Atlanta wont win the division.....Bucks and Hawks are both 4-3 amongst the 3 teams tied.......#3 doesn't apply as teams aren't in the same division.....Hawks are 29-21 in the conference....Bucks are 27-24.....therefore the Hawks have clinched the 5 seed and can do no worse?

We would win the 3-way tiebreaker and be the 5th seed if we lost out and the Bucks lost. If we lose out and the Bucks win, then they would get the 5th seed and we would be in a tiebreaker with Indiana for the 6th seed. Indiana would win that tiebreaker by having the better season series record with that final win over us. Thus, we could fall to the 7th seed. That is how I understand it.

We just need one win to get the 5th seed or for the Bucks to lose.

It's not locked but its close. Here are the scenarios:

1. One Milwaukee loss=5th (They have shown they can beat Boston, so it's not a guarantee they lose)
2. One Hawks win=5th
3. Hawks lose out and Milwaukee wins in Boston=7th

That's basically it. The Hawks have the tiebreaker if it's a 3 way tie and the Hawks have the tiebreaker against Milwaukee, but lose out with Milwaukee winning in Boston and you lose the tiebreaker against Indiana and give yourself a date with Cleveland in the first.

I think we need to win tonight and possible try to rest up vs the Pacers which would piss Miami off but hey...

ABOUT TIME TO STICK IT TO RILEY!

We did that against Cleveland and discovered a bench so its not a guaranteed loss for the Hawks

Oh no doubt. We are playing with passion 1-12...I'm just saying if we were inclined to rest after beating the Horcats tonight. But like you said, we have a fiery bench that wouldn't go down to the Cavs starters so why the Pacers.

Bout time a little fruition came about there. Started the season off with a decent bench, it disappeared for almost infinity other than Tim and a few allowed minutes for Bembry and Prince and then the guys we picked up during the season, but looks like we may end up a good bit better than when we started. Last two games have been really nice. Lets see Bud use them in the playoffs please.

One note, it is no guarantee that Boston beats Milwaukee and Toronto is going to have every incentive to throw the game vs Cleveland to avoid a Cleveland matchup in the second round so it is still very possible that Cleveland ends up #1.
