I damn sure wish someone would finally get the balls to ask straight-up, "Bud, talk to us as candidly as you feel comfortable specifically about the transition that's taken place over the off-season, your feelings about working with the new GM now that you've had about 3-4 months together, and give us your perspective on how committed you feel the Hawks are to you, and in turn, how committed you are, under these new conditions, to the Hawks.

Or something to that effect.

Having said that, I'm encouraged to some degree by what he did already say in his presser, which thankfully finally came about after a summer of relative eery silence.

That’s where our expectations are. If you’re doing those things then, more often than not, you can feel good about what’s happening on the court, and it just continues to be our focus is what are we doing everyday, how are we getting better everyday and that’s where our focus and expectations are.”

Certainly Bud was dissapointed with the Ferry situation but I think he is, in many ways, looking forward to coaching a young core.  It's something he can really put his stamp on, like Popovich did with the Spurs.

I agree it’s like the fan base on the squawk wants bud to be mad. Truth be told even had we kept the vets that helped us get to the playoffs consistently bud knew deep inside that the hawks were still a long shot at actually even being considered a real contender.....in other words I believe bud embraces the opportunity to have a young team he not only can develop but perhaps a star will pop out of all this at some point over the next few seasons

2018 - I saw a projection showing the Hawks picking at 2, 22, 29.  

2019 - Their own pick again and Cleveland's (all things being good) - my estimation is something like 8, 22.

So you're Bud and you know that in 2019 you'll most probably have a lineup that features.

Dennis, Bembrey, Dorsey, Prince, Collins, +5 first round draft picks (2 in the lottery). The total cap hit for these 10 players...all team drafted... will be less than $60 million.

You'll have $50 million to add vets to this extremely talented young group of which you'll get 1 to 2 star vets.

 

Basically, it looks like a Kentucky freshman squad with all of the elite leaping/shooting talent. All you have to do is survive the next 2 years. If Bud can go through the pains of 2 years of 20-35 wins....The future in 2019 begins to look very bright.

I think Bud just said that he is ignoring all of you naysayers on Hawks Squawk and on that locked on Hawks Pod cast and moving forward with his player development.  He is also insinuating that y'all don't know as much as you think you know about professional basketball.This is what I think of y'all
