It's called How the Spurs got the Hawks to trade places. 

It's starts with the Spurs sending a plant to Atlanta to be the Assistant GM by the name of Landry Fields.   Fields was able to win over Nicky Ressler and convince the owners son that the Answer for the Hawks was to trade for DeJounte Murray.  The GM Travis Schlenk saw this ruse and refused it but by this time... Ressler was convinced and he called his Daddy and had Schlenk silenced. 

The Hawks trade 3 first rounders for DJ.  Schlenk.. Atlanta's last hope ultimately gave up... feeling undermined.

Landry becomes the new GM. 

Landry runs the team on the cheap and never really adds the superstar talent that would cause Atlanta to win.

In their 2nd year of losing, with no draft picks coming, Landry determines that this fan base lives and dies on draft picks and the 3 first rounders has so much value to them that if he can win them back they would give anything. 

Landry let the losing set in... and at the Draft, he swings a deal that will give Atlanta back it's 3 first rounders and Keldon Johnson and Vassel  for Trae Young.  Atlanta Fans are so ecstatic about getting those first round picks that they give up their one superstar for them.

So  August 2024..  Greg Popovich returns to the evil Kobal in San Antonio with News that he has done it.. He has gotten the Hawks to switch places and have built a dynasty in the process.   The Evil Ones says Pop has done it again...

 

In the end, the Spurs have Trae, Wimbey, and Knecht...

And the Hawks have San Antonio's Old Lottery team:  DJ, Keldon, and Vassel.   A trading of Places.
