What is Plan B for a Center

Is there a plan "B" in place if the Hawks can't get Dampier.

If reports are true, then Rebrecca has signed with the Clippers and Pryzbilla has signed with the Trailblazers. Who is left for potential scrubs to fill the lane and grab some boards ?

In a division with Shaq we must have a couple of big bodies, if nothing else just take up space and attempt to stand their ground and give some fouls.

It seems that Woodson style of coaching ( tough defense ) would require some big bodies. Anyone have the low down on who else is available at center besides Blount.

Looks like we may have to play "footisy" with that problem toe of Shaq's. grin.gif I only kidding. As it stands right now I do not want to see the Heat on the schedule. We have nothing in the middle and what sub-par talent was available is being snapped up fast. If we do not get Damp, we are up the creek. Even with the lumbering under-achiever we still need help in the middle.

I believe that Dampier will be here and that Collier will be his backup. Also, the Hawks have expressed some interest in Mikki Moore in the past. Listed at 7 feet but only 215 lbs. Tends to do well in NBDL but just so so in the NBA.

Options are not good.

If we don't land Damp we might go with a frontcourt of Walker, Harrington, and Smooth..While Smooth needs to gain strength and weight, his quickness and leaping ability might allow him to do okay against the bigger less-skilled frontcourt types..That might be a good way to let him develope.Don't forget that Smooth is a longarmed 6'9'' guy..He is almost as big as Swift who many think could play center in the east.

swift, smooth and walker are all about the same size, with athleticism...if swift can play center, than so can smooth, who is as big and even more athletic

that's why i don't want swift...we have 3 forwards now and need a true center and true point guard

when we become a championship team, our 2/3/4 will give us 15-25ppg each and then we just need a true center who rebounds and gives us 8-10 along with a true pg who defends and gets 8-10pts with 5-7apg...that's around 80ppg plus our bench can get us 10ppg

if we play great team defense, then we'll win more than we lose

(this is in 1-3 years, not this year, of course...smooth has to develop)

The web sites are not consistent on wether they are restricted or not. It is kind of interesting though that you never heard anything about the Hawks making qualifying offers to them. Also, you do not read anything about the Hawks having 15 days to match which is usually included in stories about RFAs.

IMO plan be should be to say to forget Damp, sign Loren Woods and Obinna Ekieze.

Collier = a big body who can shoot from 12ft

Obinna = a big body who was stunning in last yr summer games and everyone here was on his jock

Loren Woods = 7'1" 255 of let's see what happens under this coach

This crew is cheap and can get it done in the east and if it don't work next yr's draft is surposed to have some big's, that's why none of these guys will be for more than 3yr's on their contract.

Under the the CBA, rookies are signed to 3 year standard contracts with a team option for the 4th year. If the team doesn't excercise that option after the 3rd year, then that player becomes an unrestricted free agent. If the team picks up the option on a 4th year, then after that season the player becomes a restricted free agent.

Pryz just completed his fourth year. Milwuakee picked up his option and traded him (and his rights) to us last season. Unless there's some kind of funky wording in the CBA about that, he should be ours to match. He can refuse that and accept another qualifying offer from us for a 5th season, after which he'd be an unrestricted FA.

See here.

Could work, if he has recovered. Looked good in

pre-season last year before injury.

Could be the "Plan B" answer.

Right now, it's just "Wait and see what Damp does." He's

holding up a lot of movement in the N.B.A.

When he does sign, watch the action really pick up

everywhere around the league.
