Premium Member sturt Posted August 13, 2002 Premium Member Report Share Posted August 13, 2002 should make a statement to anyone whose hoops-wisdom is as limited an ESPN.com writer... JT is here to stay for awhile. (That is, at least until his contract is up next year.)
Premium Member Diesel Posted August 13, 2002 Premium Member Report Share Posted August 13, 2002 It does speak to the world as someone who is "a Leader" on the Hawks team. JT will probably have the opportunity to craft the Hawks into his image IF he plays well. If he doesn't play well, the contingency plan that may go into effect is sending him out with Hendu in hopes of loosing some salary. It's still so obvious that it hurts the eyes. What I mean by Play well is that Terry has to succeed as a PG in this league. His ability to score is good but if he can get SAR and Big Dog the ball then we need to get him out of there and trade him and Hendu for the likes of Eddie Jones or some other Scoring 2. Then get a couple of guys to play at the one behind dickau or in front of him. Personality is great. However, if he is not providing what we need, then we have to look beyond the personality and get a player. There is no reason why: Reef averages 23 ppg, 10 rpg. Big Dog averages 20 ppg, 6 rpg, 4 apg. JT averages 16 ppg, 8 apg.
cyman3
I bet if JT started at the POINT GUARD this year, produced the same numbers, and we were playing above .500 then ESPN would say "Jason Terry turned it around. His PG skills improved and hes the longterm future of this atlanta hawks organization. Now that hes a PG, the future of the hawks looks great" hehe, cant u guys see ESPN saying this? Even though JT is producing the same numbers as last year... only difference is that since we are a .500+ team, they actually watch some of the games and know whats going on!
