a. Control the tempo and pace, protect the ball and get others involved.

He's saying what scouts and arm-chair GM's like us have said all along. He's not a great on the ball defender. The downside is that his shortcomings in that area are likely due more to physical limitations than they are anything mechanical .

Which is why I cannot understand some on this board who have been pushing Chris Paul over Deron....... I do not want a poor defender as a point g. But I do appreciate his honesty.

Paul might be a better floor leader. But that's only half of what we need. We don't need a big time scorer at the point. We need solid leadership and good defense. If paul can't provide both, we need to look elsewhere.

yeah my problems with paul are the same as always: he can't handle bigger guards. I don't care what his height and vertical are, time has shown at every step of the way that he struggles against bigger guards on both sides of the ball. That is a huge problem for a top pick. I don't see any such hole in Deron's game.
