Admin chillzatl Posted August 24, 2005 Admin Report Share Posted August 24, 2005 the Hawks will be making a "small" resigning in the neighborhood of 10 mil over 3 years.
Weez
so I hear...that the Hawks are resigning of a pg, perhaps one that has played for them in the past/recently...and one that most would consider 'primarily a pg'...

f_town
skip to ma Lue, my darling i think he earned it...and he is another player who seems to want to play here lets hope JJ and Lue are not the last to do so...hehe
WraithSentinel
Getting him should help ease some concerns regarding the PG position for the team.
Admin capstone21 Posted August 25, 2005 Admin Report Share Posted August 25, 2005 This is a good signing. This leaves the hole at center that needs to be filled. I hope Edwards is not the center they were referring to when it was said that a big man who has not gotten pt will be acquired.
TheDude
so i hear the sickening flap of meat hit hardwood as john edwards hits more ground than shots. let's hope we do get another center.
1524
I think he was the Center Mullin was reffering to, but Woody said on 790 that they also plan to sign 1 or 2 other veturan big men to do the dirty work for us(set picks, rebound). I'm thinking Reggie Evans and the return of Dekembe Mutombo to Atlanta. As for the Lue signing, I really like it. Not to many players in this league get overlooked as much as Tyronn. He adds so many things to this team both on and off the court. If it wasnt for him we would not have even gotten 13 wins! I am glad to lock up Tyronn for what will probobly be last 3 or 4 years of his career. It will be great for us to have him for the full year, and I think eventually he will be the starter for us. Lue JJ Chill Al ZaZa Key Players coming off the bench: Smoove, M-Will, and Salim I really like this lineup because we would be able to rest our starters during the games so they could be fresh for the 4th quarter, because of how strong our bench will be. emorystar
Way too much for Lue
Plainview1981
I was think around 2-2.5 million for Lue at the most. Over 3 million is too much.
NickJYD
Dickau getting 2.5 per year probably shot Lue's price a bit.
Admin chillzatl Posted August 25, 2005 Author Admin Report Share Posted August 25, 2005 10.5 was the full value, or so I hear...so 3.5 per. That's not a lot for an experienced backup PG. especially when you don't yet know just how much you might need his experience.
DominiqueWilkins
10 million over 3 years for Lue is a fair amount of money, and it's what I was wanting to see the Hawks pay him. I was saying on theses boards after the regular season that Lue's not worth over 3.5 million.
thesheedera
RED - I agree 100% with you. JJ may start at the point, but I expect to see Lue bringing the ball up in crunch time, with JJ looking for a shot, and Marvin and J. Smith watching and learning. warcore
so how much cap space does this and the Edwards signing leave us with?
Weez
yeah...but in future years he will still be tradeable at that salary. not a big deal (and nice point on the Dickau affecting the market).

IMO, it's right on the border of being too much. It all depends on how many minutes he's getting and how good Salim proves to be. Chillz, do you have any indication if the salary is flat or raised? Flat: Year 1: $3.5M Year 2: $3.5M Year 3: $3.5M Raised (10.5%): Year 1: $3.17M Year 2: $3.50M Year 3: $3.84M
