It's a factor but it's not a factor right now. It's a factor in 3 years. I want Monroe because of his post scoring more than anything. As hawks fans we all know how hard it is to find a center and even more importantly it's hard to find a center who actually has a good post game like Monroe.

I feel like I post this everyday. I don't think ferry and bud is looking at Monroe because he's younger. They are looking at Monroe mainly because 1. it allows horford to play pf which is a big deal! Not because of his recent injury but because he may leave us due to his desire to play pf when his contract is up and honestly he's still our best player on the team even over all star milsap 2. Monroe has an offense ability the hawks have needed for a loooong time!...post scoring.... Sap is the more versatile scorer but he doesn't have the body to post up and score the majority of his points in the post like Monroe...the hawks badly need a post scorer as well as a rim protector which Monroe is not but in today's nba it's hard to find a big man that's the complete package. 3.we need another guy in the starting lineup with some size. Monroe being 24 is just a bonus. His only flaw is his defense but bud can coach through those struggles to improve I'm sure. And just so no arguing will be made I agree that sap is better than Monroe, I just think we need Monroe to continue to build this team to a spurs like roster.

Gotta admit this guy looks like a steal if we can get him on the team. Bud could probably develop this guy no problem too.

So is this guy a possible starter to some of you? I don't know a lot about bazemore but I think it's interesting that the spurs are after him too....that's makes me hope the hawks sign him.

I think you are missing the point in signing Monroe.... -mainly for POST scoring which he does better than anyone we have on our team and something we need! -and to move horford to power forward where many believe he will be even more impactful than at center There's a lot of things this hawks team need but we can't get it all in one player. Monroe is 24 and has plenty of time to be polished into an elite scoring center with decent to avg defense.

While I strongly agree with you I guess I have top notch trust in coach bud to keep his minutes down around to 28-30 per game at max and use our quality back ups DMC and Sef. Trust me if we didn't have DMC or Sef I wouldn't be all for getting deng but because we have two very good defenders on the bench that can knock down the 3 ball if deng signs I think ferry will manage his minutes easily where deng can stay healthy throughout the season and give us more in the playoffs. Like the thread I created....I'm just happy to see 3 very good legit perimeter defenders whereas last season I felt like we only had one in DMC....however we still would need a slasher but maybe the rookie SG we drafted will turn into exactly what we need.

But I thought Thad was more of a power forward than a small forward or is he more of a tweener? Also can Thad slash to the goal? I forget but lately I've seen him around the post, posting up more than handling the ball on the perimeter.

2 year 24mil....or 3 year 33 mil with team option on 3rd year. Those are good deals for deng.

I think we are getting a top notch hard nose defender that will come off the bench and will also get his 3 ball back. I highly doubt Sef fails as a role player under coach bud. We will all love this signing for 4m once we see what Sef brings to the table. Adding Sef actually gives us two legit perimeter defenders that's actually good....last year we only had one in DMC that played a lot of minutes.

Yep definitely agree! I'm a satisfied hawks fan with adding Sef, Deng, and hopefully Greg Monroe...if not Monroe I hope we can add hill.

I don't think we overpaid for Thabo. I honestly believe we got a steal. All in all I like the idea of Thabo, DMC, Deng! I don't think deng and Thabo are elite perimeter defenders anymore but I do think they are both still very good defenders. As a hawks fan you can't be mad at having a possible 3 very good defenders at both SG/SF that can all hit the 3 ball along with the best shooter in the nba Kyle Korver. That's a good 3 guys to have! I'm not calling ECF but I'm sure we will get back to the second round and actually be competitive. Add in a possible trade for Monroe and we could possibly get to the ECF.

I'm not...many if you thought he was going to be too expensive but I knew he'd be 7m at the most! Damn I'm pissed we missed out on him. He really fits the system and can get you atleast 8 boards a game

We would def have one of the top starting fives in the east but it's hard to say who's better than us or who we are better than until we see what are bench looks like. However If we add deng and hill to come off the bench we will probably have a top 4 east team. Pacers are on their way down so I should say top 3.

I have no problem with ferry! We were going to be a better team next year just because horford will be healthy. Anyways I'm over the deng contract debate...just being him home ferry! I trust ferry won't overpay for deng. This lineup ain't looking too bad if deng signs: -Teague -Korver -Deng -Sap -Horford Not too shabby but I would much rather see.... -Teague -Korver -Deng -Horford -Monroe In my opinion we can do some damage in playoffs with that lineup.

I agree...there are many reasons the spurs have had success for many consecutive years but here are 4 that really stand out to me: -Pops system actually works. -they seem to always have a great rotation of Big men! -they go out and get guys they know that can develop or vets they know will fit pops system. -last...like you mentioned in your post they keep a good balance of solid veterans and young players around. Spurs have an elite front office man! They are just outstanding.

Honestly I think all it takes is two 50 win seasons in a row. Simple as that.

Bingo!...like lance or not he has elite defense, decent 3ball and can attack the rim with his linebacker like body frame and he's young! I would give him a 3 year 32mil deal and be overly satisfied! 4 year 43mil is also doable.

I don't see why they don't just keep him around the goal on the offense end like the spurs do splitter? No need to force a non jump shooter to shoot all the time. As far defense goes I will wait to hold judgement cause he did start his career in a train wreck franchise. I'd be more worried if he had started off with a great Coach like melo did (g Karl) and never improved defensively. Personally I think bud can work and guide him to fix that flaw in his game. It's going to take some time but good thing he's 24

There's some advantages and disadvantages here Horford/Monroe vs west/hibbert......win hawks Horford/Monroe vs ?/Bosh......win hawks Horford/Monroe vs pierce/Lopez...win hawks Horford/Monroe vs smith or milsap/Drummond....win hawks if smiths at pf... I would say possible tie with sap at pf Yeah in the east that's a pretty damn good tandem that horford and Monroe!

Monroe isn't his guy I agree but he does bring back assets. If a stupid crazy max is offered SVG will just match it and trade it when he's ready. Centers are just too hard to come by in today's NBA (of course you know this) and Monroe's value is high right now and I think a lot of teams will pay him max if they need a center.

Sorry dolf but I doubt we get him without a sign and trade. SVG ain't just gon let him walk, he will probably match any offer and then trade him later. I'm not all for giving up dmc along with sap either but this guy is 24 and if we make horford a happy camper now we could probably get him to sign another team friendly deal

Damn I did not know Monroe could pass that good for center! Man I would love to see him paired with horford and sharp shooters like korver! Monroe's post game ain't half bad either. I hope ferry can land him that will be huge! I'm willing to trade sap plus dmc for Monroe to pair him with horford.... That's a solid good could be great tandem! Add deng and ferry would be a genius this off season.
