    Game 7.

Also let's add that if the game is close in the end make sure Teague has the ball in his hands! And if a inbound play need to be drawn up on a last second shot lets pray coach bud can make his team understand the play! Now let's get out there and win hawks!
  2. Well I'm not saying he should camp around the 3pt line...just have the ability to hit it when the opportunity is there. Other than that like I said yeah they need to focus more on his post game.
  3. Very interesting article I just came across: http://hawkshoop.com/why-al-horford-should-start-shooting-3s/
  4. Hmmmm…. I wasn't aware of any of this. Never knew Al said that he can shoot the 3 but just chooses not too. Interesting, well if all that is true this thread is officially a waste!
  5. Really? I understand that he can hit a 3 (he's a good shooter) but did he really show off his 3 ball talent cause thats something I know I probably would remember.
  6. While we are eagerly waiting for game 7, I was wondering if our center Al Horford should develop the 3pt shot over the off season like Milsap did last off season? Why do I ask? Because of Spencer Hawes!!!..of course!! LOL no honestly now that I look at it I wanted Hawes but it will not make this team better due to sap being at sf or off the bench, so Im over the Spencer Hawes stuff! (would still be a nice backup center though) However my point of wanting our BIGS (PF,C) to be able to hit the 3 ball still makes a ton of sense and I wouldn't mention it if I didn't think it could be done. Two HUGE things Sap's newly 3 ball skill set has done for this team? -when heathy horford get more one on one opportunities in the post and won't have to worry about help defense coming over very often because the floor is spread and when it does come we have 4 guys that can knock down the 3 ball he can kick it to. -Teague's Penetration!…the less crowed the paint, the more Teague will score back to back to back to back……. -IN OTHER WORDS THE LANE IS WIDE OPEN So unlike Pero, Horford is a consistent shooter and unlike Hawes, horford can play good defense and rebound very well. So what if our 2 time all star center develops the 3 ball skill set? What does that do for the team? -Milsap will have more one on one opportunities in the post. -Teague will have more opportunities to score at will -Horford will take away that so called true center from doing what he does best in rebounding and protecting the rim. -If we draft or pick up a slashing SG, he will have more opportunities at the goal to score. Now Im not saying... -horford should start taking five 3's a game! maybe more like 1-2 per game shall he develop the 3 ball. Horford should still be mainly used as a post and mid range shooter but if he develop the 3 ball he can really spread the floor and help his penetrating teammates like Teague see more open lanes and sap see many one on one post up opportunities without the help defense, and possibly make defenses play smaller against us. What do you think? Give me your honest opinion.
  7. Teague Series: 19.8 ppg 5.3 apg 3.8 rebs Milsap Series : 20.2 ppg and 9.8 rebs Man that is great I don't care what the haters say these guys stepped up against the NBA's number 1 defense. I'm proud and this is something Ferry/Bud can continue to build on to. Imagine if horford could have played! We would have an extra man out there that is consistent, able to drop 17-20 pts a game, and grab 8-10 rebs a game. Our future is very bright! I see why Ferry/Bud always say "I like our team…"
  8. You may have answered my question on why Teague is playing so much off ball and not attacking as much when Paul george is on him. If what you say is true, its a good strategy from coach bud but at some point you have to realize that your team isn't consistent enough on the offense end and your best player need to do more in the scoring department.
  9. Very true, all facts no hate BUT when I see Bud's scheme being ran on the court a lot of times Teague goes up the court and passes the ball to whoever at the top of the ark and the play starts. It just seem to me that Bud has to take some blame for this because it seems like he has told teague to play more off ball than with the ball especially when Paul George is guarding him. But Im with you I WANT MORE Jeff Teague attacking this team as much as possible throughout the WHOLE game but I think its more coach bud's scheme than it is Jeff….just my opinion.

    Pero sucks as......

Don't forget to blame coach bud for those awful inbound plays he draws up! LOL by the way you make a good point, it seems to me that when the game get close the ball isn't in Teague or Saps hands. I don't get that at all, if we are going to lose I want our best players losing the game for us not the role players. Buds gotta change that!

    Pero sucks as......

Well its about time somebody actually made a good point! Maybe I would have stopped posting about Spencer Hawes long time ago! Im not so concerned about Saps defense against other 3's and I know he could probably post most SF's up and score but I never once thought about his speed advantage he has the PF position to get around probably most PF's. With that said I still want Spencer Hawes and I think ferry should get rid of Lou (who don't fit the team) and Pero (who I like but isn't consistent enough to be effective) to make it happen. Hawes off the bench for horford would be great.

    Pero sucks as......

Hey I agree, but all Im saying is that I like the idea of taking the so called true center out the game when you have 5 that can hit a 3. Problem is that Pero isn't consistent enough for this and if anything I would let Pero walk and get rid of Lou since he doesn't fit the system anyways and sign Spencer Hawes as either a starter or on the bench. Either way its an upgrade to the team since we don't need both Pero and Hawes. I completely agree that we need another slasher like Teague cause again Lou doesn't fit and he's one of the reasons the ball movement stopped late in the 4th quarter. While Lou's iso ability is great, he just doesn't fit Bud's scheme.

    Pero sucks as......

Sap had 5 fouls he was obviously trying not foul out when guarding west at the end of the game.

    Pero sucks as......

Lol how am I comical...I'm just being realistic...where are you going to find a closer? There are no closers that the hawks can get in the free agency.
  15. JTB

    Pero sucks as......

That's true but coach bud has also found a way where true centers can't hurt us! Most true centers in the nba today are rebounders and rim protectors and every blue moon you might run into one of the five 20 point scoring centers and that' when the trouble starts but hey you can't have a perfect team. But what about the other true centers that can't score very well like Hibbert how will they be effective if we can continue to take away their best skill set in rebounding and protecting the rim when they are guarding our guys on the perimeter?....exactly they can't be effective and that's what we want.

    Pero sucks as......

Why should hawes be a backup he's a good starter. This nba league don't have a bunch of scary centers to force hawes to the bench of any team. To me he's worth every dime.
  17. JTB

    Pero sucks as......

Sorry I can't help it. When Pero misses all these wide open 3pt opportunities I just say to myself damn hawes would be knocking those down. I get the old saying live by the 3 die by the 3 but I thought that only consisted of taking 3s no matter what, not on wide open 3s the defense is giving you nearly the whole game! There's another old saying.....you have to take what the defense is giving you or you have to take the open shot. In Peros case the defense is giving him a 3 and he need to take and make the open shots being given. By the way you have my word, I will not post another spencer hawes thread but I will continue to bring up his name.
  18. A starter! -hesitates on open shots -terrible finisher at the rim -defense isn't great BUT....I still hope he's a hawk next season because he's a very decent bench player! But I must say for the hundredth time, if we are going to continue to play this spread 5 offense and let it be apart of our identity we need a sure knock down 3pt center like Hawes! You see eventually you guys are going to agree with me that hawes should be in Atlanta next season. I get you want a gortat or asik but guys like that aren't realistic opportunities for the hawks. Spencer Hawes will be a hawk next season and us hawk fans will like it.
  19. He really does! It's a huge issue!...and it needs to be taken care of.
  20. Guys please calm down...yes the hawks have to close out games better, I'm sure the hawks will fix their problems for game 7.
  21. Coach bud is a great, fantastic, remarkable coach but dammit man the plays he draw up during timeouts are either really terrible or the players just don't get it! The shit is getting old! I like coach bud but the inbound plays he draws up or whatever you want to call it need to be thrown out the window!...Larry Drew is killing coach bud at drawing up plays out of the time out! GOODNESS!!!
  22. Trust me guys nobody like Joey Crawford. He has a bad rep even with stars, so its no telling what happens tonight when he's ref. Hawks just gotta play and ignore the bad calls cause there are going to be some bad calls, missed calls, no calls. You still gotta play the game and close it out on your home floor. Hell Paul George may get 20 free throws…don't matter shut down the pacers, hit your open shots, and we will be ok.
  23. I believe we just need 3 efficient all-stars. We don't need someone who can create their own shot, its all about running the scheme at all times (the offense scheme should never be broken…we are a team.) As far as melo goes…I don't want him, he's not a team player and all he will do is stop the ball on offense, just not a good fit for coach bud.
  24. One word…... Nice!!!
  25. On Ferry: I started to throw the towel in too early on Ferry and Coach Bud when the hawks started losing several games back to back but I can admit as a hawks fan I was completely wrong and gave up too early! I get the guy "Ferry" now and he means what he says. He wants to build a competitive team while staying flexible! Makes perfect sense, I see why tanking isn't an option. Instead of chasing BIG names, Ferry goes out and get guys like DMC and Cartier Martin who hustles like hell on both ends of the floor EVERY GAME much like a tony allen! Ferry wants guys that have natural heart and hustle as he continues to bring this spurs like mentality to the city of ATL. On Bud: While I still believe he needs to do a better job with drawing up inbound plays I think the guys is a fantastic coach and he will be around with the hawks for a looonnng time. I once read that he was prime reason tony parker got so good and as a hawks fan I am in love with his offense and I believe the defense will buy into his scheme as well. Another thing I like is that coach bud makes adjustments based off mismatches that he wants to take advantage of not making changes because of what the other team is doing and because of that I would like the hawks to continue with this stretch 5 offensive style! Im starting not to care about the "True Center" crap anymore, heres why: Personally I don't think Bud needs a true 5 to compete or even get to the next level. Im not concerned about rebounds, we REBOUND as a TEAM, we play OFFENSE as a TEAM, we play DEFENSE as a TEAM and when we play as a TEAM in Coach Buds system we will 90 percent of the time always see results. If I could have my wish list I would sign Spencer Hawes as many of you know or have read any of my recent post Spencer Hawes would be great on this team…he can start some and be on the bench for some. For defense and to have a rim blocker I would resign Brand or try to find an upgrade if possible to come off the bench. Coach Bud is such an amazing coach he could have a variety of winning lineups just based off what he decides to take advantage of for example: This could be Coach Buds main lineup next season: pg-teague sg-? (draft pick) or korver sf-sap pf-horford c-hawed or Pero Lets say we are going against a true center like Hibbert or Noah…theres no need to change the main lineup since we have an advantage of having all 5 players being able to hit the 3 ball much like we are doing in this pacer series. But say we run into a scoring center (there really aren't any) and we really need more defense than offense: pg-teague sg-?(draft pick) or korver sf-Carroll Pf-sap or horford C-horford or brand or an upgrade to brand You see theres nothing we can't adjust to if need be (but remember coach bud makes opposing teams adjust to us before we adjust to them, however he will adjust if need be unlike Vogel). Don't like sap in the main lineup at SF when going against Lebron, Melo, Paul George, Rudy Gay type SF's…... pg-teague sg-?(draft pick) or korver sf-CARROLL pf-horford c-hawed or Pero Fixed!!!…...Sap,Mack,Pero, and others can just come off the bench. In games where the opposing team has a SF that is a star player, Sap can be our ginobli and rip it up off the bench! If we can get a good SG draft pick you add Korver to the bench permanently, which will make the bench a huge upgrade. In games where Sap can play long minutes at SF, Carroll can come off the bench with Korver. What I have learned after watching Coach Bud actually Coach: If theres one thing I learned as a hawks fan about Bud is that this hawks team will learn to do EVERYTHING together! This has not been the case with past coaches. The hawks will REBOUND as a team, play DEFENSE as a team, play OFFENSE as a team…it never use to be like that until now. For once every player is held accountable including bench players. We no longer are relying on this player to score 20-25 points and another player to block 3-4 shots or another player to grab 10-15 rebounds we are a team, that will play team basketball from start to end. If you haven't noticed the hawks NEVER stop running Coach Buds offense scheme, they do it from start to end..same with rebounding and defense. I see that, thats hard for some hawk fans to accept because we have never seen the franchise ran as a team, Im honestly looking forward to more blue collar players like DMC and not BIG names that can't do sh*t in the playoffs like Harden. My point is that we don't need players that are specialized in just rebounding, pts, blocks anymore. We need players that can play team basketball and put their heart and hustle in every game much like the Grizzlies and Trailblazers. ***This wasn't meant to be another thread about Hawes (though many of you will accuse me of it), just telling you guys we don't need individual players anymore like Asik. We need team guys thats going to give it their all. If anything I would even consider starting Antić next year with a healthy Al Horford at pf/Sap at SF and so on. Bud has created an identity with this stretch 5, you hear the media talk about it all the time in this series and I think he should continue it.
