I say no, and to give him half of next year to see what he can do - like we did with Lloyd. Either way I don't see him lasting though if we can get a decent replacement - that's the tough part for me. Even with all his issues there isn't a guarantee we can find someone with the acumen to jump right in and coach this team successfully, though I would think there is a coach out there that would be licking their chops to be able to work with Trae. This season was hard to watch compared to the year prior, but we also dealt with a lot of issues beyond our control. He also was at the helm for our most successful postseason the year before and doesn't get enough credit for that IMO. I feel like that alone should earn him at least the start of next year to see if he has learned any lessons from this season. I don't think he will though unless we shake up our assistants and he becomes more willing to try some things earlier in the season.

Hunter is wildly inconsistent. He can put up 35 and have enough effort to grab 11 boards but other nights he’ll play the same minutes and grab 0 boards. He needs to give a consistent effort. -

I know everyone is saying we need a secondary scorer next to Trae and I agree, but the Heat just gave us a clinic on defense. That to me should be the #1 priority. Add some more stoppers to this team. -
this will either be Trae's wake up call or the beginning of his demise

Yeah but let’s give him credit for doing the right thing. Especially with as much crap as he gets. I was totally surprised to see Delon in the 4th, in a close playoff game. That was very anti-Nate. Good for him. -

We got the short end of the stick as far as the COVID rules and not being able to reschedule any of our games. That hurt, and when you’re not winning as a young team that can kill confidence. Who knows what kind of domino effect that had? That was the biggest thing for me. It seemed like we were adjusting to the rules and turn a corner towards .500 when all that happened. At the end of the day though, we’re at least hitting our stride at the right time. We can be a problem for anyone in the playoffs but I have a feeling I’ll still be wondering “what if” regarding not having a better playoff seeding.

You have two opportunities a season for a chance to really celebrate a win against your arch nemesis. Soak it in my friend, soak it in.

If Nate won't play JJ with JC out indefinitely and Gallo gimpy...
AUhawksfan replied to REHawksFan's topic in Homecourt
Never a good sign when the front office has to tell a coach what to do. And the fact that it worked out with OO and Nate still doesn't see the same potential situation unfolding with JJ says a lot, and it's not good. -
I think he’s worth something too…in a trade. At this point I’m secretly hoping he has a good showing the rest of the year/playoffs so some time will want him. The NBA isn’t just about offense these days, and you gotta bring something to the table when you aren’t shooting well. You can excuse Trae who will put in more effort on D and can affect the game in other ways offensively. Bogi can have amazing stretches but he’s just too streaky. When he’s playing well you just wonder when he’s going to hit a slump and for how long. We just need a solid 3 and D guy, which apparently is a lot to ask for from the current roster.

Looks like he is out for the season now. Unlucky for him. Given his inconsistency and being injury plagued, it was definitely more risky to keep him and now he heads into a summer with more questions still unanswered.

Guilty as charged. Clint is the better answer but I chose Gallo because he has been our best creator off the dribble since we got him. He is the only player we have that can consistently go one on one and get his shot off over someone. That proved crucial in the playoffs when the game slowed down and we needed timely buckets and our offense was stalling otherwise.

Poor Gallo, having to watch that mess at the end with no chance to get a look.

Durant, Irving, Curry, Mills, and Harris are all snipers. There is so much less pressure for Ben to have to shoot outside the arc so he can just focus on what he's good at. They are stacked with shooters, and just stacked in general. Oh, and an edit to this post just to say.....Morey sucks.
