Whats interesting is that even with a scouting department now, its seems like they really don't want to participate in the actual draft itself.

I expect the Hawks tradition (for the past decade) of no moves and maintaining the "but we made the playoffs!" mindset. I just can't imagine them doing anything major. They very rarely do. They almost always play it as safe as possible.

Unless they decide to with Millsap who's the best player on the team. Either way, have to give up someone or two. Which still may or may not leave us as an early exit.

As said in a past thread, we don't have a Hawks insider. Just C-Viv who could care less really. So we're at the mercy of speculation from other team insiders. Idk, Porzingis would be a pretty good haul.

Basically because they obviously want to make the playoffs. There's no point in coasting. There's really no win here. They aren't going to blow it up and its too late to even think of tanking. Also, I don't see any decent trades being made either. Especially if everyone just plays like crap due to coasting. For the past decade the Hawks and the people in charge have just seemed to be OK with being good enough to make the playoffs (outside of last year). I just don't understand.

Not to mention when the game plan breaks down they still have players to count on. Which does go into the talent point as you've mentioned. Lastly, we don't really play the way the Spurs do. Pop HATES the 3 and looks at it as something of a last resort. Bud seems to look at it as the first, second and third option. Sure, you can say the offense is rooted in ball movement, same as the Spurs. But also the Warriors, who our style is more comparable to. Except well... you know. PS. better than 80% of the league? I think that's a bit high. I'm not saying we're 80% worse or close to that but 80% better?

I agree with this. Bud continues to force a system that the league has adjusted to and w/o the right players (and/or talent level) to make it remain successful.
