  1. Hate to say it, but I think even the pathetic numbers reported are completely bogus. When I go to a Hawks game, I can't count the seats, but I can get a rough idea of what % of the arena is full. At the Detroit game a few weeks ago, it looked like about 2/3 empty, or worse. Yet the reported attendance number was much better than that. Maybe they make enough money on sponsorship that attendance is not that important. (Though you would think sponsors would want to support a team with a more full arena.)
  2. I wish they had extended JC and let JJ go. I know he's not as good as JJ used to be, but he wouldn't have cost 1/2 as much.
  3. I recall a post last year where someone had some stats that showed the Hawks best lineup was with Al, Josh, Joe, Mike and Jamal. So its either 3 guard or Joe at SF. They play that lineup a lot, particularly near the end of close games. Why not just make that the starting lineup? Joe is as big as most SF's and is at least as good a rebounder as Marvin. (Of course, this all ignores the fact that Joe, Mike and Jamal are not playing that well this year.)
  4. I thought about this too after I read that. Problem is I couldn't think of how he would change things. I could see putting Marvin on the bench, but who do you replace him with? Evans?? Or maybe ZaZa moves in a C and do Josh at SF, though there are plenty of reason to think that wouldn't work.
  5. Way I have it figured Josh and Al are the only two guys on this team that have improved since last year. Everybody else is just gotten worse. Why trade the guy whose doing better? But no question the roster is flawed. Two pfs, no center, no PG.
  6. Maybe this is a case where there's not enough basketballs (too grab) - Josh rebounds go up, Al's go down....
  7. Well, if people never complained about anything, we'd still be living in caves....
  8. I'll pile on too. If I have got it right, the best team we have beat is 4-4 (Cleveland). We lost to Phoenix (4-4). So this is a 500 team, at best. I'm afraid the team may have overachieved the past few years. (Blame Woody - he fooled us into thinking that this team was better than it was. :snowballfight: )
  9. One thing I don't get about Atlanta fans is they never show up at game time. Its not just the Hawks either. It seems that at least half the fans don't get to thier seats until late in the 2nd quarter. Same for the Dream. For the Braves, its about the 3rd inning or later. (Never been to a Falcons or Thrashers game.) Can't see blaming the 7pm start time - it happens no matter what the start time is. Anyway, I don't blame the fans for not coming. If they have better things to do, or would rather watch on TV that's fine. That's what I do most the time time. But, I just don't get going to all the trouble of going to the game, paying for expensive tickets and then not getting to the seats till the game is 1/4-1/2 over. I've started wondering if they just start letting people in for free after the first quarter is over..... Maybe I should hang around outside and find out.
  10. Seems like the "big" lineup is what they played late against Detroit and it seemed to work. I don't know how long it will last, but so far ZaZa is the most improved Hawk, and the guards are looking for and finding him. He seems to be going to the basket a lot better than in the past.
  11. Josh is by far the most entertaining guy on the team. With his dunk, blocks and assists, he is really fun to watch. He probably sells more tickets than anyone. (But, I don't think anyone buys tickets to watch him shoot long jumpers.)
  12. I would discount Hickson's game last night and Al Thornton's the other night. These are two guys who grew up in Georgia and who seem to light it up against the Hawks. I think they are trying to get traded to the Hawks, so they are showing everything they've got.
  13. LeBron will have his way with the Hawks, as usual. .... Oh, wait. nevermind.
  14. After reading his article, seems like he thinks it would be a rather dumb move. Only logic I can see to it would be if they really beleive that ZaZa's first few games show he belongs in the starting lineup at center, allowing Al to move to PF. Not sure that really convinces me. (Course, depends on what they get in return.)
  15. Would be great if the Hawks were the team that found a prize late in the dtraft for a change. When is the last time that happened? (I sort of recall Kevin Willis was not a really high pick, but not sure. Spud Webb probably wasn't either.)
  16. Even his septic tank. That's a good one . :thumbsupsmileyanim:
  17. I'm thinking that this strong showing in the playoffs helps them move up a level next year. After all, it was a good showing against the Celtics that presaged the Hawks rise from a sub 500 team to better than 500 and then the year after that to better than 50 game winners.
  18. In 3 games they were 8 points worse than Sea, perhaps one of the best teams ever. Every game could have gone either way, but of course the champions are the ones that figure out how to win the close games. Great game, exciting as heck. Sad ending to a great run. They never did give up no matter what the circumstances. Hopefully we can keep this team together and build on this.
  19. Yeah, I think choking is when you are supposed to win and lose instead, or maybe when you lose by margins of historical proportions. In this case, they are 5 points worse than the Storm in Seattle. Too bad that equates to 2 games. One things is for sure - the Storm know that they have been in a series. I'm going tonight and hope for the best.
  20. I plan to be there thursday. BTW - wonder who Jamal Crawford was rooting for? Hometown, or Hawks?
  21. Just about the most exciting game I've ever been to. Angel made a statement for sure - best game of her pro career so far. Way to step it UP in the playoffs. Her and Poindexter put on one heck of a show. This had to be something for the new Hawk coaches to see. Hope it will rub off on them.
  22. Does have to make the Hawks rebuilding plan look sort of lame. Took the Dream three years to get a second round win. They bult the team everyway you can - college draft, free agents, trades, expansion draft, dispersal draft. In a few cases, it looks like they maybe they added by subtraction. And, I can't think of any real talent they passed up that was a lot better than what they got. Anyway - GO DREAM. We'll be there Tuesday. :thumbsupsmileyanim:
  23. I'm afraid that neither money or talent comes with instructions.

    Etan Thomas Mix!

I wonder if Etan Thomas posted his own collection of highlights on you tube?
  25. Maybe locker room cancer is a bit too extreme. How about locker room hemmoroid?
