  1. Naw, he was a "pro". The "pro"s were JR, Ancient Chris Mullen and Kenny Smith. The pros won barely. Despite his age, Mullen actually looked pretty good at times. Kenny Smith hit a lot from 3 point. JR seemed unimpressive.....Esp on defense. I was actually a bit surprised JR wasn't in jail. Last I heard, he was charged with something.
  2. Isiah "JR" Rider now on "Pros vs. Joes" on Spike.
  3. Jamal's role in it seemed to be nothing more than someone copying a video of him at a game or something . I don't think he deserves any fine or even criticism.
  4. Well, if all these teams have gotten better, some had to get worse. So if we could just beat the really bad teams, we can keep out record up.
  5. I would blame BK more than Woody, though I wouldn't take either back. My memory is a bit fuzzy - but did't BK hire Woody? Anyway, Woody built a winner out of the players that BK and Sund gave him. His fault was lousy playoff showings. Also, BK's entire strategy on draft picks was lame - pick a guy 6-9, no matter what your need was. If Sund had the lottery picks BK had, then I think he'd have done a lot better.
  6. I like Pop Secret better. He's our secret weapon.
  7. I see us 0-4 against Orlando, split with Miami and Boston. So that would be 4-8. Not sure, but I think they were 4-8 or 5-7 vs. Cleveland, Orlando and Boston last year. I think Miami will have chemistry issues, Boston is old, and Rasheed Wallace was as good, if not better than older Shaq. I think that an "underpaid" (in his mind) Shaq will be less than helpful to Boston. The one thing that always bothered me about this team was that they play much better against good teams that crappy ones. They struggled against teams like NY, so if they would just not play down to the level of the opposition, I think they could make up some of the losses against the better teams. A win against NJ, or Indiana, counts just as much as one against Miami or Orlando. (Untill the playoffs, where I think things aren't very promising.)
  8. Good question. Does anyone know how those guys did in Summer League play?

    Kudos J Smoove!

Another thing I can't figure is Josh Smith's free throw percentage. His first four years in the NBA he shot right at 70% FT. Not great, but pretty good. Last two years, he drops to 60% which is pretty bad. So bad that you worry late in the game when he goes to the line, or when he gets a chance of an and one, you figure its an and zero. I can't see how a 70% FT shooter becomes a 60% FT shooter. Maybe he realized that since he couldn't even hit free throws very well, he should stop throwing up 3 pointers.

    Caption THIS II

No caption, my wide calls them the "A-Town Strippers."
  11. I don't fault them for being cheap. Or for hiring Drew. Drew paid his dues, and had he gotten a head coaching job with another team, I think most would have said it was well deserved on his part. Since the team is only $4 under the luxory tax, I think the real Q is how did we get to having such a high paid team? Seems like maybe they spent too much, or at least didn't spend very wisely. One problem is that if you look at Bibby, Marvin and ZaZa they all had off years. Sort of makes sense since they all got big $ deals. Seems like they are now just not putting out like they did before they got new contracts.
  12. Would hate to see him go. He's just about my favorite player now.
  13. I fear it is Dwight Howard and Orlando that can rest easy tonight....
  14. One less center available. http://nba.fanhouse.com/2010/07/17/miller-reached-deal-with-houston/
  15. How could the Hawks be talking to Carmelo? Wouldn't that be tampering?
  16. The videos of the first one looked like vapor trails from a jet to me. Seemed like it gold the golden glow because it was around sunset or sunrise. The second is a lot different, though.
  17. His value seems to be dropping like a rock. $20 m last year. Then he wanted $8 m. Now its mle. Pretty soon he's down to th affordable range. At some point you have to wonder if its worth more to him to just make commercials than to play another season. Also, his "farwell tour" thing seems like it would be a distraction.
  18. Coaches get fired so often, I wouldn't worry about Woody. He took a team from 13 to 53 wins. Some GM will be swayed by that. I'd say a bit into the season when some team is unexpectadly falling on its face, Woody will get the call. Plus, a lot of the other guys out there now have jobs.
  19. :thumbsupsmileyanim: Better yet - a place to put people in witness protection program....You guys kill me sometimes.
  20. Sometimes a change of address makes a big difference. Look a Diaw. Took off when he left ATL for PHX.
  21. Good to hear encouraging news about him. He's in a tough spot in the rotation, playing behind 6th man of the year though. Maybe he didn't have anybody to pass to on college.
  22. If Cleveland it interested, maybe it proves they think he does a good job as anybody on LeBron.
  23. The Indy Star published a story just a few days ago that the Pacers have gotten a $10 M per year concession on the arena lease they have and some other goodies to stay in town. If they dont stay 3 years they have to pay it back. (I've been a Pacer fan since the 60's when they played in the ABA. I'd hate for Indy to lose its team.)
  24. Seems like that's happening more often. He lost JJ as well. We may be in the market for some of the same players - Shaq, and maybe Brad Miller.
