  1. Pretty amazing on Collins, esp. since he really isn't much of a shot blocker or rebounder. Strange thing about him is one night he starts (when the other team has a really big guy). Next night he may never even get in the game.
  2. I think they need a few guys with bit of a a mean streak in them. Like Detroit when Mahorn and Lambier were running around. Then this team would want to beat up on the lousy teams. Instead, its like they try to play just good enough to win.
  3. If he doesn't start playing better, I'm going to have to change my avatar to something relevant.
  4. They already are - a buddy of mine live in PTL. He made the comment months ago that Oden is the second coming of Sam Bowie.

    Hawks-Bucks?

Yes we need to fell the deer. Think it will be hard to get tickets? I wonder if any scalpers will even bother to show up.....

    Hawks-Bucks?

Think there will be a game Tuesday? I'm guessing not. :snowballfight:
  7. My .02 worth. I'm guessing the 4 all star level players you are thinking of are Joe, Jamal, Josh and Al. That makes two PFs and two SGs.......Flawed team design.
  8. Agree on playing Damien over Moe (as in Curly and Larry). I was wondering what happened to Powell as well. And JC2 for that matter. We need to put these guys pictures on a milk carton.
  9. One thing to think about - if the GM's from around the league read Hawksqauwk they will know how bad our players are and never want them.... :snowballfight:
  10. Maybe the Suns likes Marvin. Sometimes a change of address is all a guy needs. Look at Diaw when he was with the Hawks and when he went to the Suns. (Then again, maybe that's what happens when you havea good pg. Other guys start looking better.) Anyway, who wants two guys as old as Nash and Hill.
  11. I don't think he does much of anything either, but I do recall an interesting thread from 2009 - it was said Collins seems to be some kind of statistical freak - on paper he doesn't seem to do anything, but he makes a difference that is for real. Don't know if there is anything to this, but who knows? http://www.hawksquawk.net/community/index.php/topic/339352-interesting-thread-nba-players-say-collins-is-extra-fierce/page__p__408429__hl__%2Bcollins+%2Bstatistics+%2Bdefensive__fromsearch__1#entry408429
  12. Seems to me that aside from money, the biggest problem is that the owners and management are afraid of making any big changes (and replacing Woody with LD was about the smalled "big change" they could make) because they are worried they will end up worse, not better. And looking at the team's history of evaluating talent (just look at the. drafting) they may have a point. Maybe they know (or at least fear) they will end up on the losing side of whatever trade they make. So maybe they figure its better to be "better than average" for a long time, instead of risking being a "lot better than average" or a "lot worse than average." Well, no matter what, most of the time the Hawks games are better than whatever else is on TV, so I'll keep watching them. And go to a game once in a while. BTW - if they wanted to help attendance, they should get some better snacks and munchies at Phillips. The stuff they have sucks completely.
  13. Love is the answer. We need to start loving this team the way ASG does. What was that old song "I love you just the way your are....."?

    IS This?

I haven't added any numbers up so I can't provie it, but does seem like we are beating the bad teams more often than last year (though we did drop a few lately) and defintely losing more to the good teams. (BTW - 2 of our wins against "good teams" - Orlando, don't count much in my book, since they were sick the first game and had almost a brand new team for the second one.) No matter what the actual numbers are , to be honest, I'd rather beat a bad team, and lose to a good one than the other way around. I think its a sign of maturity to at least beat the teams you should, instead of getting up for the "big" games, and then not showing up for the games against lousy teams.
  15. Don't see him making the All Star team - he's been out an playing poorly. The fans wont vote him in (did he ever get voted in?) So its probably up to the coach to pick him. Maybe if he has a really great month of Jan he could. Since Al probably makes it, they won't need to put a Hawk into the game. He's going to have to go on a tear to avg 20 per game. Don't see it. Shoot above 44? No. His career avg is 44.2 - he's way below that now. Player of the week - could happen - only takes 2 or 3 good game in a row. But wouldn't bet on it. Get 44 points against a good team? No. His career high is less than that.(42) Shoot better than 33 from 3. Could (career avg is 37), but he's way below that now. PER? I don't know. Bottom line - he's got to do a lot better to get even half of the above. I could see him striking on every one of them. All he has to do is keep doing what he's been doing all year. And I admit, I wanted them to extend Jamal instead of signing Joe. But I'm not mad that he complained about the fans last year. I just think he disappeared when it mattered , and that they paid way too much for too long.
  16. I'm gald to see they are giving him a chance to get some playing time. At this point, I'm hoping they do the same for Crawford as well. I don't think it helps these guys a bit to sit out nearly every game of the season. Last time I looked, JC2 was not even dressing for the games.
  17. What is wrong with Wallace? Seems like last year he was their best player. Why do they want to dump him? I think he would be a help for us, even if it cost us JC for the rest of the season.
  18. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look at both source next time. Tried stubhub, but were a ltitle late. Did pick up a pair of $37 for $20 from a gentleman on the street who as luck would have it, had an extra pair.......(Sort of makes up for the Dream Finals game against Seattle where I had to pay $40 for $20.)
  19. Don't trade Josh now. I just got a Josh Smith t-shirt at the game last night for $10.
  20. I thought that Arenas contract was almost as huge as Joe Johnsons. That's one thing that seems wierd about this deal.
  21. Thinking of going to the game tonight. I hate paying Ticket Master. Will it be hard to get tickets? I usually go for pretty cheap seats.
  22. Huge trade - makes me think Orlando has panicked. What I see as being wrong with this deal: Hedo - never been the same since he left Orlando, but doesn't mean he'll be the same now. Sort of like a guy who remarries his ex hoping it will work out again. (Seldom does.) They are trying to catch ligthning in a bottle - for the second time. Arenas - seems like a risk, he's the classic case of a guy who's head is out to get his a#$. And even if his head is screwed on straigth, he gets injured a lot. Lose Gortat - whose the backup now? Despite all that they will still probably handle the Hawks with ease.
  23. Well good news that Charlotte is looking at trades. Maybe the Gerald Wallace trade thread isn't just wishful thinking.
  24. Another thing is I think there's a question as to whether coming in early adds any time to a player's career. Can't point to anything specific, but seen/read various things saying that these guys just wear out sooner if they start younger due to the rigors of the pro game and maybe coming in less than completely grown up. Plus, if they don't get the fundamentals from a good college coach, its even harder to pick them up in the NBA. I agree with raising the age so that they have to go at least 2 years out of college, and maybe 3. I could see for some guys who just don't want to, or can't make it to college maybe having them in the NBDL or something for a few years. I guess another option is Eurpoe. Jennings from the Bucks did that, and it probably helped him. Another thing is its tough enough to figure out if a guy will be a good pro coming out of college. Coming out of HS is just a crap shoot, so teams really are just gambling more.
  25. This seems like a good idea - there are a lot of teams whose names don't make any sense. Let's come up with some new ones patterened after what the cities are about now; LA Lakers - no lakes near LA. How about the LA Celebritires. Washington Wizards - sorry no wizards in WA. Lets call them the Washington Deficit. Or maybe just the "National Debt". (The last good name was Baltimore Bullets. At least that was sort of fitting.) New York Knicks - what the heck is a KnicK? How about the New York Banksters. Or the New York Greed. Or the New York Crash. Or the New York Bailouts. Utah Jazz - for sure there is no jazz in Utah. How about the Utah Salt Lakers? MInnesota Timberwolves - hardly - their an endangered species. I lived in Minnesotra for 3 years, never saw one. Call them after what they have now - Minnesota Snowflakes. Detroit Pistons - not many cars being built there nowdays. How about the Detroit Scrapyard Chicago Bulls - No Bulls in Chicago. Better - The Chicago Bribes. New Jersey Nets - no way - New Jersey Toxic Waste would be a lot scarier. Portland Trailblazer - harldly. How about the Portland Drizzle. Orlando Magic - no magic there. How about the Orlando Coasters. New Orleans Hornets - Hornets was a silly name even when they were in Charlotte. How about the New Orleans Flood. Come on someone help me here.
