  1. @Thomas Happy Birthday. Thanks JayBird. It is a happy, happy day.
  2. Yeah, their is one poster that truly believes that.
  3. Game five against the Heat with the Raptors starting center out BeBe received a DNP. Guess we didn't trade away a future all star after all. Still pulling hard for Edy to get minutes on the court next year Block some shots..
  4. Agree the max money is crazy but a while back it was posted Al mentioned the fifth year is part of the equation.
  5. Thank you Gray Mule. Every Birthday has been great but I have to say six decades feels a good bit more special. I also like special occasion dinners with my wife, Angela. A good night ahead!
  6. I don't seem to remember Sojourner or Tom Henderson but definitely remember the others. Remember Carr yelling at Fratello on the bench "play me or trade me". So he got traded I believe the next year. When I watched Pippin use the glass so much I thought maybe he had studied John Drew a good bit. The on the court Drew, not the off the court one.
  7. When I was able to first watch the Hawks consistently it was the early seventies. We were fun to watch with our two 2000 point in one year scorers (Pete and Lou). I think it only happened once, not sure. Unfortunately we ran into the Celtics or Knicks in the playoffs seems like every year and they were winning championships. Still it was a blast.
  8. Would have loved to have seen that era of basketball. Sounds like he was a level above just about everyone else and was a Hawk to boot. Really would be nice to see a Hawks championship wether its from the 50's or now. By the way I turned 60 years old today. Dinner in town tonight.
  9. So the Rockets canned McHale early in the year but give Kenny Smith an interview to have to possibly deal with D12 and definitely deal with Harden. Thinking this must be the "we pursued a thorough search of all possible candidates" spiel.
  10. If we collectively closed out games we would still be playing the Cavs right now. A combination of things but at the end of games coaching decisions, poor rebounding and no one hitting a clutch shot (in some cases not getting the shot off) doomed us.
  11. This could be BS but ESPN online had a story about Kenny Smith interviewing with the Rockets. A remote possibility of Kenny "one of the TNT bad analysis guys" Smith coaching D12. Wow. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/15504550/houston-rockets-interview-jeff-hornacek-kenny-smith
  12. Hardaway was really slow to sync with us but he did get up to speed somewhat. In a perfect, wonderful world he would develop fast enough to deserve 25 plus minutes a game. That perimeter shooting has got to improve a lot.
  13. Really do think the Taurean Prince pick would be a nice cookie cutter fit for our scheme. His availability seems likely at our pick. Coaching staff then molds our future 3 and D player.
  14. Being able to watch the Hawks while living in the mountains sounds like a wonderful time.

    Schröder.

Even on a bad team Jarret Jack has been a thorn in the Hawks sides often. Like you were thinking, where is a SF coming from.

    OK, thanks Ekyo.

    Schröder.

The quote I pasted was from ESPN yesterday. “The important minutes are at the end of the game and that you close out games,” Schröder said. “I think for me it’s clear: In the future, I want to be a starting point.” I didn't say he is forcing something. I also mentioned Jason's speculation for the PG position..

Sorry the NBC link is an older article but ESPN has an article.

Link to NBC sports article. http://nba.nbcsports.com/2015/10/21/hawks-pg-dennis-schrder-says-he-wants-to-start-will-look-for-other-opportunities-if-he-doesnt/ Please disregard this link because it is from October. I apologize. I don't want to start a British tabloid.

The Dennis comment was in an article on the ESPN NBA page last night.
  21. After our abrupt dismissal from the playoffs I've been thinking of the forty plus Hawk seasons I've seen. Comparing the game changes and all. John Drew and his close range bank shot versus Kyle Korver shooting from over twenty five feet and more at least eighty percent of the time as an example. Crazy difference. My question to you is did you see Bob Petit play in person? What I have read states the Hawks won their one championship mainly because of him. An era of Hawks I never saw. We have not won it all in Atlanta but I still love watching us try.

A comment from Dennis. “The important minutes are at the end of the game and that you close out games,” Schröder said. “I think for me it’s clear: In the future, I want to be a starting point.” Thinking he feels the future is now. This comment and Jason Walker's article "state of the franchise" has me thinking I was way off thinking Bud is keeping both PGs, he may start thinking about a trade happening before the season or at the deadline. Jason mentions Teague and Atkinson are close. Sean Marks, Atkinson and Teague are all SpurHawk ball scheme vets. My question is what in the world do the Nets have to offer or would offer? If we keep just one our backups are a second rounder most likely and a journeyman like Kirk I'm guessing. A remote possibility of Patterson. We would be weak there when the starter is off the floor.
  23. With all the ideas on shaping the roster we have all had I had forgotten about Patterson's existence. Your right about Thabo getting most of his minutes at SF but defensively he kept J.R. from getting shots after he had been absolutely torching Korver. The big question I think is who our starting SF is because we have so many SG bodies.
  24. Thomas

    Damn, Bud

Your right. Off the bench and a lot less minutes. Soon to be 36 years old and J.R. made him look much, much older.
  25. This is not comforting but in the playoffs against the Cavs last year we were in only one game. It wasn't even at home. This year we were in three games. A sweep is a sweep but I don't think Bud and company see it that way really. They saw progress and they will probably try to field the same team plus a rookie.
