  1. There's 90 million reasons Millsap went to Denver... Brandon Marshall ain't one.
  2. Is there a way to watch it online? There used used to be a $14.99 summer league pass to watch games online every year... But I can't find anything like that.
  3. Patterson is 6'5 and not very athletic. The loss of DMC was tough but I thought the Hawks would find someone to help take some of his minutes. Someone with similar size and athleticism. Someone that can guard big athletic 2's and 3's. Well... to this point they haven't addressed that issue at all. Holiday is not the answer... he is scrawny and 2 inches shorter. Thabo can defend but theres no guarantee his broke ass leg is going to be healed and last year he was DMC's backup. So now he is going to have to start ( if he is healthy ) and there is nobody on the bench that can guard big/athletic wings. I'm disappointed.
  4. There's a reason Jenkins rarely played and didn't get resigned... my guess is that he can't play D. We know he can 3.... but if you can't play D... good riddance.
  5. Phil jackson is the the most overrated coach in history... that stinking hippie... just got lucky and had teams loaded with some of the greatest players of all time. I could have coached those teams to championships, and I would suck as a coach.
  6. I watched all the summer league games last year and I was really impressed with Edy. Obviously he is a giant and can block shots and grab boards. The thing that impressed me the most about him though is that he has only played basketball for a few years and he is more skilled than a lot of the American big men that have been playing their entire life. For instance... DeAndre Jordan shoots below 40% from the free throw line and I know that is rare in the NBA but Edy shoots close to 70%. That is pretty amazing for a guy that just picked up the game a few years ago. DeAndre Jordan has no offensive game whatsoever except dunking. He rebounds and blocks shots at an elite level but he has no offensive game to speak of and can't hit the broad side of a barn when it comes to free throws... yet.... he just got paid a crap ton of money because he can rebound and block shots. Edy only played about 22 minutes per game in the ACB and he was 1st team all ACB which is the 2nd best league in the world. His Per 36 minute stats average out to be like 13 points... 13 rebounds and 3 blocks. He is only going to get better... we could have a real gem here guys.
  7. Don't worry guys... I'm sure that logo and uniform design is probably just part of some charity work the Hawks are doing with some special needs children.
  8. It was common knowledge among the draft experts that Ferry wanted Giannis.. unfortunately he went to the Bucks one pick before our slot and Danny took Lucas...
  9. Dennis is the future... Teague is a good player and I like his game a lot, but why do you think the Hawks drafted Dennis? He was a mid-first round pick. They didn't draft him to be Teague's backup. They drafted him to eventually be the starting point guard. Dennis is progressing quite nicely and he is still very young. Teague isn't going anywhere this year. Dennis isn't ready to be the starter yet. Jeff could be one of the top 5 point guards in the league if he had the right attitude. Unfortunately he doesn't. He doesn't have that ferocious attitude that the great ones have. He has all the skill but is too inconsistent. He doesn't go out there to murder his opponents every night. He doesn't go out there every night with the passion to destroy whomever is in his way. I don't know if Dennis has that either... but I can clearly see that Dennis plays really hard and seems to give 100% all the time. He is still learning but with his skill and his determination I can see him becoming a top tier point guard within the next few years. Perhaps around the time Jeff's contract is up...
  10. BK was one of the worst GM's ever when it came to the draft. The Diaw pick wasn't bad. Then he drafted Childress at #6 when Deng... Iguodala... Josh Smith... J.R. Smith... Al Jefferson... and Kevin Martin were all available... sure... i know not everyone knew Kevin Martin was going to be as good as he was and was is correct cuz he kind of sucks now... but... seriously...haha Childress? when he picked Childress that night my mouth hit the floor... I couldn't believe it... and for the record I wanted the Hawks to draft Josh Smith at 6 and J.R. Smith at 17... Then the next year... Marvin... OH MY... that draft was quite awkward honestly... most of the " experts" had Marvin as the top talent in the draft... everyone knew Bogut was going no.1 but everyone thought O'l Marvin had the most upside... I didn't like Marvin at all... when i read about how he wore a spongebob backpack and how he took himself out of a high school game so his teammates on the bench could play I was like... OH GOD NO... soft as snow... i knew it... I can't sit here and say I wanted Chris Paul though... after watching him at Wake Forest a lot because I'm an ACC fan... I honestly thought he might be a bust... boy was I wrong. I actually wanted the Hawks to trade down and get Bynum... oh well Bynum sucks now too... he and Marvin need to go see the Wizard and get some courage and a heart. then the next year ... oh boy the year he drafted Sheldon Williams... Again being an ACC fan... i was flabbergasted at this pick... undersized center... I guess he is like 6-8 but his forehead adds on like several inches...he is probably only 6-4 without it. The Landlord hahaha He looks physically deformed... perhaps fetal alcohol syndrome... I don't know... but he isn't a Landlord...if that dummy BK hadn't drafted him with the 5th pick he probably couldn't even pay rent... and how on earth did he land Candace Parker? Makes no sense. She would probably be a horrible GM too... just like BK... Terrible choice. OK so... alright now 2007... BK drafts Horford... good pick yayyyyy yayyy yayyy ok... well Oden was the consensus no.1 pick everybody knew Oden was going to be the no.1 pick... and Everybody knew Durant was going to be the no.2 pick... After Horford Measured out at 6-10 in shoes everyone knew Horford was the no.3 pick... there was no guesswork... no need to put much thought into it... Horford was easily the no.3 pick. All the mock drafts had Horford going no.3 everyone knew Horford was going no.3 so we got the number 3 pick and we got Horford... ok good... but thats not a plus for BK because anyone would have drafted Horford at 3. Here is where it gets ugly... Acie Law at 11... oh boy... so... BK was handed the Horford pick... everybody knew Horford was going at no. 3 but we had this 11 pick too and we were all excited and who do we get? Our boy BK takes Acie Law IV... I don't even know if he could play in the D-League... ugh... HORRIBLE pick... after he was picked lets see...Thaddeus Young... Rodney Stuckey... Nick Young... Marco Belinelli...Aaron Brooks... Tiago Splitter... Carl Landry... Marc Gasol... etc. etc. The bottom line is this... BK was one of THE WORST GM's ever at drafting players... perhaps only slightly better than our own Pete Babcock... because boy he sucked didn't he? BK sucked... Period... BK was our GM during the time period where the Hawks blew up their roster and started from scratch well he left us with chicken scratch... he squandered our drafts when we had good picks... and now we are right back where we were in the late 90s... making the playoffs... getting ousted early.... sad. BK is THE reason we are mediocre now instead of a contender... The team was blown up and rebuilt under his watch.... and he failed miserably...
  11. I rarely post but i read this ish like every day.... i wanted to donate but it was giving me ish about cookies... like wtf i dont even eat cookies... somebody send me a link with no cookie problems and i'll donate...
  12. From what I have seen so far... and please you need to understand these summer league games are basically pick-up games.... Payne's hands are a little suspect... he is obviously a good athlete with length and he can knock down jumpers... I like him... he is never going to be an all-star type player... but I think he will be a solid starter and he fits into the system. I think it was a good pick at 15.
  13. You know... I always liked Teague... He has the game... he is sooo quick... he can get into the lane at will and he has a decent jumper. Why does he disappear so often? Ugh... It's the same thing over and over... no heart... I'm sorry... but he has no heart. Marvin had the skill... no heart... same thing but not to the same degree. Teague wont ever live up to his potential.I had hoped that when Josh was gone and Teague got his big deal he would step up... he has to a certain extent... I mean if you look at his stats they aren't bad... but why is he on the bench in crunch time recently? He has no heart. Pure and simple... The Zero he wears is looking more and more appropriate. How on earth could a player with his speed and talent be so pointless. He can get into the lane at will like i said... he is quicker than almost any guard he faces... he has floaters and a decent jumper in his arsenal yet he continues to disappoint. In all honesty... from what I have seen from him just based on talent alone...He should be an elite point guard in the NBA yet he gets benched in crunch time??? What does that tell you? NO HEART...put Paul Millsap's heart in Jeff's body and He would be an All Star every year... or Mike Scott's heart.. or Shelvin Mack's heart.... or Damarre Carrol's heart. Zero is living up to his number... all the talent... none of the heart. In all honesty can we talk about this? We see Teague game in game out... we know that he has elite quickness... he has the ability to rack up assists... he has the ability to score... he could be 20 and 10 easily... and be a factor at the end of games... why isn't he??? It's maddening to see a guy so gifted go out there and disappear all the time and not live up to their potential. I am not even doo dooing on Teague really... I have said over and over I think he is capable of being an elite player in the NBA and has all the tools... I think he could kill a lot of other so called " elite " guards off the dribble and blow by them but why is he always so disappointing. It is just hard to swallow to see such great potential and so little results. I say trade him... please trade him if at all possible because I'm sick of watching talent go to waste. Lou is a different story... Lou is what he is... he is the guy that comes off the bench and can put up 30 from time to time. Lou was never supposed to be our star guard. He was supposed to be a 6th man like he has always been. Obviously he had an injury which was not his fault... but I'm not ready to write off Lou... he is still recovering... and he is still capable of scoring in bunches. So get off Lou's back... I would trade Teague for almost nothing just to get rid of his contract and his inability to live up to his talent. The Hawks keep winning... its kind of crazy but guys we are 4th in the East... I know the East sucks... but we have players on this team that play their asses off. I'm so happy for Millsap... he has deserved to be an All Star in the past but he never got the credit. Millsap is a beast... we got him for almost nothing in terms of contract. Easily the best free agent signing of the offseason when you factor in production vs money. He is easily better than Josh Smith... I was a Josh Smith fan... I always wanted him to reach his potential just like Teague... but Josh... he couldn't be the player he was supposed to be. He wanted to be like Lebron-lite or something but he didn't have the game. I will give Josh some credit where its due... he is a very underrated passer... dude can pass... when he wants to...If he would only play the game he is destined to play.... power forward... but a dynamic power forward who can pass and block shots and score... he would be a great player... he doesn't want to be that... so good riddance. I'm rambling and I hardly ever post although I read the board every day... The last thing I want to say is this... Dennis is our future point guard. I bought the NBA summer league package so I could watch him play. He doesn't get many minutes right now... but when the ball is in his hands...man... he is electric. He glides with the ball. Seriously... watching Dennis with the ball and how he moves... it's almost like poetry haha The kid has it... and we are lucky the Hawks drafted him. He has something that can't be taught... Dennis is going to be super good. Maybe not next year but his time will come and he is going to be really good. He just moves differently with the ball... it's almost like he is gliding around the court... and when he throws a pass its like effortless... :) just saying... Dennis is the truth... don't be surprised when he is our starting point guard.
  14. Don't know if anyone has posted this... but... great interview with Dominique... my Idol as a kid... easily one of the 50 greatest players... often disrespected... but Bill Simmons interviews him and gives him his due. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReJMkJefNXA
  15. Very cool... Congratulations Mr. Mule to you and yours. My grandparents have been married about the same amount of years and its truly amazing that people like you get to spend that many years with the one you love. My grandfather has always been a huge Hawks fan and some of my best memories are watching Hawks games with him when I was a little brat. When did you become a Hawks fan? Were you watching them during the Pistol Pete era?
  16. Very good point here... We don't know what we have with Budenholzer. He could be great he could be awful we don't know yet. I will say that I feel the Hawks haven't had a quality head coach since Lenny Wilkins. In my opinion Drew was a terrible coach. How can you allow Josh Smith to shoot 200 3's.... I know Josh was probably hard-headed and perhaps Drew didn't draw it up that way... but c'mon man... a good head coach would have stopped that nonsense. A good head coach has to be a hard ass sometimes. A good coach has to be able to walk a fine line between being a good guy and an asshole. If you have several superstars on your team like the Heat you can probably be an easy going sycophant. If you have a team with good talent that needs direction ( Hawks ) you have to be able to command respect and get your players to play to their strengths and commit to playing a role that will benefit the team not just their own stat lines. If Budenholzer ends up being a quality head coach... with the talent we have theres no way we don't make the playoffs... If he is a quality head coach... the Hawks will be no lower than a 4 seed this year. We still have talent guys... Millsap for Josh is an improvement and who else did we lose that is a major factor? Nobody... Hawks will be AS good as last year even if Budenholzer is completely inept... but if he is really good... Hawks could win A LOT of games next year.
  17. Shredder sucks... dennis the menace is way way way better... not only is it based on a classic name that everyone knows but it really describes his game... he is a menace on D... he sticks with the opposing point guard getting in his grill like no other... i'm really impressed by that. Also he weaves through the other teams defense and finds the open man like some kind of god damn magic show... a menace to the oppositions defense.
  18. I watched the game... I'm tipsy... I don't believe in grades... Schröder impressed me... He definitely is a team player... he looks to pass out of the pick and roll. Those lobs to Lucas were quite nice. He seems to have a good outside shot which is extremely encouraging.... an outside shot combined with his ability to get in the lane could be deadly. He did have some bad turnovers where he just threw the ball into traffic or a defender. He looked pretty lost on defense. There were several times where he just completely blew an assignment... could be from lack of practice in the system. I think with his long arms and quickness he can be a good defender. He is obviously not ready to be a starter, but will be a nice backup now and I feel he is the future point. Lucas impressed me as well. He can pass. Looks good rolling to the basket. He is loooooooong. He runs the floor well and is an extremely good athlete for his size. His standing reach is 9' 6" that's 4 inches from the rim and he has a 30 inch standing vertical. His hands go WAY WAY up high. He is pretty raw. Hesitated once when he had a lane to the basket and could have thrown it down but blew the possession. He wasn't aggressive enough at protecting the rim. Perhaps he was nervous. Doesn't seem to have any type of post game. If the Hawks can coach him up and get him to be more aggressive...get some muscle on him. Look out. I see his ceiling as a rich man's Tyson Chandler and his floor as a Solomon Jones. Mike Muscala...Ok he impressed me too. He has a jumpshot. He is basically 7 feet tall. He can run the floor. He isn't super athletic but he isn't a stiff either. He has solid but not great athleticism for his size. I hate agreeing with what everyone is already writing but it's true. He is going to have to adjust to playing against world class talent, but.... he is 7 feet tall... he can shoot... he can pass and he has upside. He will be on the Hawks roster and he could end up being a steal. Boban... OK this dude is really interesting. I have read that he has signed a contract with a Euro team already and he cant come over... I dunno im not an expert about all that stuff. The guy is ENORMOUS. He can almost dunk without jumping. There were a couple of minutes during the game tonight where he dominated both ends of the floor. Then he started dropping the ball and swatting at it. Then he got the ball stripped from him... then he was throwing his hands out to defend and seemed to almost be on a delay... like a split second behind what was happening. I'm not an NBA GM... and i may be dead wrong... but... If I was an NBA GM... specifically the NBA GM of the Hawks... I would get this guy on my team and develop him... You can't teach size... and he would be the biggest dude in the league. His touch around the basket and free throw shooting ability are rare for a giant like him... He can run the floor a bit... he isn't a gazelle by any means...but he can move. I don't know anything about the league he played in last year...but he was the MVP and put up impressive numbers. Personally I'm a gambler... Id take a risk and get the dude over here. Mike Scott.... I'm not going to say anything except Mike Scott is a lot better than he played tonight. John Jenkins... yep he looked like John Jenkins... the guy can shoot. He is a little more athletic than i think he gets credit for. He can be a nice backup 2 guard. I don't see him having much ability to create offense for other players or himself for that matter, but he can knock down jumpers and can cut to the basket. Looking forward to seeing more of him on the floor this year. I think he could average around 13 ppg this season as a backup and have a few lights out big games. Shelvin Mack... I really like Shelvin... really enjoyed his game when he was at Butler so i don't want to diss him. If he was a few inches taller he could be Jarret Jack, but unfortunately he isnt. Don't see him making the team unless the Hawks don't sign a point guard... that seems completely illogical though because Dennis obviously isn't ready to start. None of the other guys even warranted a mention after tonight's game... maybe they will show up in the next one.
  19. Yeah it really does... I have been following every thing that has been reported and i feel like i have no idea what's going to happen.
  20. If the Hawks are doing a trade like that to move up 4 spots I really hope they don't include the 18th pick... Surely not though.
  21. Apparently they think Pete Babcock is still the GM.
  22. “I've coached for over 40 years,” San Diego State coach Steve Fisher said. “I've never had a guy with the spirit, with the commitment, with the will to win more so than him.” That is a statement that should not be taken lightly. Some of you guys seem to be looking at Franklin as some over-achiever. That isn't fair at all... Franklin has a lot of upside. The guy has elite-level athleticism... He can knock down mid-range jumpers, which is a lost art these days. He was the 2nd highest rebounding guard in the nation last year... that stat says a lot about him...it doesn't say he is going to lead the league in rebounding obviously, what it says is he is super athletic and he has the proverbial nose for the ball... which means he goes after it... which means he has what steve fisher was talking about... Heart... Will... Determination... whatever you want to call it.. That's something you can't teach. We saw that with Marvin Williams. The parts of his game that are lacking are all things he can improve upon with coaching. Coaching can't make you uber-athletic and coaching can't make you the kind of tough son of a gun that will leave it all on the floor and do whatever it takes to win. Don't get me wrong here... I'm not trying to say he is the best player in the draft or anything of the sort... I'm just saying... we could do a lot worse with the 17th or 18th picks. I would be completely content with getting him in that range.
  23. Yeah it is really awful. I blame most of it on bad drafting. Everyone knows the Hawks have selected busts time after time. I started this post and I meant everything I said, but I would want Dwight IF and ONLY IF he came with Chris Paul. I do think that if Dwight and Paul joined forces it is possible that CP3 could pull the best out of Dwight. I don't really see it happening though. The thing the Hawks have lacked all this time is a true dominant superstar player. They have not had that since they traded Nique. If we can't get one through free agency we need to get one through the draft. Obviously that isn't going to happen this year as we have the 17th and 18th picks and this is a pretty weak draft. It may be time to cut the fat ( josh, jeff, etc. ) and lose lose lose. Terrible I know... I hate losing but how else can you get a superstar? If they won't sign as a free agent the only way is to draft one and the only way to draft one is to be really awful and get a high lottery pick. Next year Andrew Wiggins will be in the draft. He looks like he could be a real superstar. If I were running the Hawks I would gamble in this draft... Take one guy who is more of a sure thing and a nice value at 17 and then at 18 gamble on someone who could be a star and cross my fingers. Then I would put together a team that would be young and with some potential but also not one that will win many games next year and hopefully get lucky with the ping pong balls. As I said... I hate seeing the Hawks lose... but how else do you get a star player? If they won't sign you have to do SOMETHING. Making it to the playoffs every year and not advancing past the 2nd round is something that could continue for years and years without ever getting much better or worse just a steady mediocre existence.
