  1. Who cares what BK's personality is like? I mean come on most of you act like you are trying to date him. Face of the franchise? Please. The face of the franchise is the owners/players. BK is doing his job. Building a team and keeping the information secret. Giving away any information only reduces your competitive advantage. It sucks for fans craving for information but is imperative to successfully run a organization in need of improvement. I'm a life long Patriots fan and if you think BK is terrible try Bill Belicheck. That guy doesn't release any information, comes off cold, uncaring, and even forbids his players from releasing info to the media including lying about injuries. Boston has a rabid fanbase and somehow the fans don't need BB to be this outgoing, fan friendly "face of the franchise". You should judge these GM's on their work not their personality. BK has one to two year's to prove he's a good GM. If we don't make the playoffs then you won't have to worry about his personality. Do you want another Babcock? I mean he communicated with the fans but who freaking cares when our teams stunk.
  2. I didn't watch much college ball this past year. Nor do we get Temple games on much in the Pac 10 Dominated west coast schedule. Any info on Mardy Collins? http://www.draftexpress.com/viewprofile.php?p=340# His profile says he's a true point guard with size and good instincts only lacking great athleticism. Any thoughts on him?
  3. I think Arenas has world class athleticism. He is so quick and powerful and keeps good balance. As much as I like Salim I don't think he can match Gilbert's physicality. Check this: Gilbert Arenas can run, with speed beyond NBA convention. He has the hands of a pickpocket and the footwork of a Riverdance troupe dancer, but other players have those attributes, too. Arenas, though, has pure speed. He can run like a jack rabbit in need of Kaopectate. Track coach Milan Tiff, a former Olympian who works with about 35 NBA players in the offseason at UCLA, helped Arenas train in the months before the 2001 draft and declared his speed world-class. "He's unbelievable," Tiff says. "He could do the 100 in 9 seconds if he applied himself to it. He could be in the Olympics."
  4. I don't get this suspension. So they didn't call a foul in game but they review after then call it a flagrant? Great way to hurt a team's playoff chances early Stu. The NBA is becoming a joke with this referee crap. I was watching ESPN classic the other day when Magic and Kareem faced off against the Iceman and the Spurs in Game 6. Now that is defense and hustle. Sure there was contact but you expected it. Now it's whistle, whistle, whistle. Calling flagrants after the game is crap.
  5. As cool as it would be to have AI in the ATL I think we should pass on any deals for him. I love AI but his biggest strength is scoring and heart. I feel that JJ, Josh, and Marvin can provide enough scoring to negate the need for Marbury. I think one more year of smart drafting and plugging up the holes withe more ZaZa's is the way to go. I'm really high on Diesel's idea to sign Jacki Butler away from the Knicks. We do not need a scoring point guard, we need an Eric Snow. A guy that can defend his position, handle the ball, and make the correct pass.
  6. Quote: Quote: one and only reason that i like SAc Go Reef!!! Yeah, congrats, Shareef. Only problem is that they had to remove SAR from the starting lineup in favor of Kenny Thomas to get better. He's cancerous. That's just assinine. Zach Randolph broke SAR's jaw and when he was ready to play KT had already meshed with the starting unit. SAR willingly came off the bench, did not complain and has been very solid in that role. He could just as easily regained his starting position but Adelman liked KT's effort with the starters. Also KT maintains that he is more comfortable starting and I believe this also led to the decision to keep everyone happy. I'm proud of SAR and happy that he will get to play in the playoffs. If SAC can keep their defense going there is no reason they can't reach the finals. The Artest trade really transformed this team.
  7. We have Childress if you love Andre root for the Sixers. Damn does no one love Chill. I think he has game just needs more aggression and minutes. We play zero help/team D so our defense looks worse than it is.
  8. ugh.. This is the second Hawks game I've seen. First one was versus Bulls when the League Pass was free. I live in Nor Cal and spent the week telling people how we'd beat the Kings. Now I've watched 80% of the Kings game and while Artest makes them better they should not have dominated us like that. The game made me sick. Play with some freaking heart! The lazy passes the non existent D. What good is being 6'9" if you won't stay in front of your man and D up. The refs were bad but if you gonna foul someone lay them the f out. I've never seen such dispassionate basketball since the Days of Shareef, Dermarr, and JT. We suck. Period. Can't even hang this one on Harrington. Is this what we have to look forward to for the next two years? We need some guys with passion! Suit up Dominque!
  9. Man. I'm so tired of Chris Paul versus Marvin Williams. I've read over a months worth of the same posts. Can we please move on?
  10. Quote: that would be great for us but there is no way the Clips are givin up Livingston. they would trade Cassell before Livingston. Sorry about the title. Next time I'll use Diesel's method as he is the trade master. As for the CLips not giving up Livingston. Why not? He's had nothing but back troubles and they are gonna ride Cassell and Mobley for at least two years. They are creeping closer to having to pay Livingston for zero production. Hell I'd even through in a first round pick. Perhaps we can have Indy surrender one to us and pass it to the Clipps.
  11. How about this trade now that Jermaine says not to Artest coming back. Harrington to Indy Artest to Clippers Livingston and Wilcox to Atlanta.
  12. Quote: you are so ridiculous that you are even making people like me who like Marvin want to root against him. If you don't see the difference, let me ask you this, why wasn't Marvin the college player of the year? And don't tell me because there was talent around him, Reggie Bush had last year's Heisman winner ( and a runner up for this year's heisman) on his team. The answer is OBVIOUSLY because Marvin wasn't even close to the most talented player in college basketball last year. He was arguably the player with the most potential, and that's why we drafted him Just stop Give me a break. Marvin was a Freshman on an NCAA Champion. Reggie Bush is a Junior and a very good Sophmore. I don't think you can compare the two since Marvin only got one year. Who the hell knows what he'd be like this year in the NCAA. I also hate NFL to NBA comparisons. The games are too different to compare athletes and draft picks.
  13. Bring back Eric Musselman. Can coach young talent, is young, and has head coaching experience.
  14. Quote: Quote: I knew the Kings were going to take a nose dive when they signed Reef. It seems that getting Reef never turns out to be such a good thing. I agree. I had a big argument last year over whether Reef was just unlucky, or was a loser that brought his team down. I argued the latter. I think this sesaon makes my point. Reef, Bonzi, and Francisco Garcia are the only Kings currently playing hard for Sacramento. I've been surprised at how well Reef adapted to Webber's old role in the high post offense. He's hustling on D and not complaining that they don't use his low post game much. His passing is much improved. His jumper gets flat but he always corrects it. In my opinion the Kings are just not athletic enough to compete. Now that Bobby and Doug are gone you see how much of a liability Bibby is on defense. He can't guard anyone so the defense is constantly offkeel. Brad and Peja are also slow defender and can't jump worth a damn. The old Sacramento team is probably gone for good but I can't blame Reef at all. Him and Bonzi are bright spots. This is from watching 75% of their games this year. Rant over.
  15. Bring back Eric Musselman. Stotts sucked. His substitution patterns were horrible as were having DJ camp the three point line in the corner. He's doing better his second time around as I think Musselman can also.
  16. I'd like to dump Woodson and bring back Eric Musselman. He did very well with our summer squad a few years back. I think his Golden State failure had more to do with personnel then coaching. I too think BK has assembled a team talented enough to win. I'm not saying we have all the pieces but we have enough. I feel that Chillz regression coupled with Diaw's statements are Woodson's responsibility. Using Terry Stott's as an example perhaps a coach's second chance allows them to learn from their past failures. I believe Stotts did a terrible job while he led our team. His offensive sets were horrible with DJ hanging on the three point line. He also couldn't sub effectively to save his life. Look forward to today and he's got Milwaukee cruising. I'd like to think Mussellman has the same ability. Perhaps even Woodson can adjust his second time around but for now boot him please.
  17. How hard would it be for her to set him up? She could basically pay a woman give the woman 5% of her 50%. Shoot she could even have the woman blackmail him until his career is over. That way she gets some of his 50% then the real 50% after. Walk away SJack Walk away.

    Our Star?

We are drifting from the topic, we are defining the franchise player/star not the leader of the team. Even if Marc Jackson was the leader of the Pacers he is far from the franchise player, that distinction solely resided on Reggie's shoulders for years. Smits was his complementary piece.

    Our Star?

I voted for Chillz. I watched him a lot in college and I always thought his game improved each year. He took down some pretty good teams late in games including Salim's cats. I can see him becoming a Reggie Miller type player in a couple years. I know his stroke looks broke but I believe he will find his NBA shot sooner than later. I also think he has the most maturity on the team and while not the most athletic he is the most well-rounded next to JJ.
  20. I believe Diesel needs his own forum for posting his trades.
  21. For the record Deron will not be as good or better than Jason Kidd. Jason Kidd is more athletic and has better court vision than Deron. To me Jason Kidd is a natural in the Magic mold. There are just some skills you can't teach and floor vision and athleticism are two of them. I'm not hating on Deron I'm just giving Jason his respect. The only knock on Kidd is his shooting and even that has improved.I find it funny how you bash on Marvin yet immediately say Deron is Kidd's equal.
  22. Quote: Based on your criteria, I'd fit between the realists and the positive groups. I think BK is doing a good job, but realize he makes mistakes and isn't perfect. I think Babcock was not a total failure as a GM but was a total failure at drafting with a mixed record on FAs and trades. I think we are moving in the right direction and would like to see us start making some progress but won't be upset if it takes another rough year before the rubber hits the road - as long as we hit it hard when it happens. I'm here. Also I don't want to give Joe Johnson a huge contract for what it's worth.
  23. I'm cool on Steve Francis. The man freakin dribbles too much and he doesn't have great court vision. Say what you want about Steph but he knows how to drop dimes. I'd rather have Baron with his questionable back then Francis. Francis isn't a winner, he's just another guy with great athleticism.
  24. I think that Sturt has every right to post his thoughts on this messageboard. He is one of the founders of this site, correct me if I'm wrong. I truly enjoy his writing style and insights and much rather read other topics than us self-proclaimed experts debating Williams versus Paul/Deron. The fact is I, like Sturt, love the Hawks and I live on the other freaking coast. I, like Sturt, dislike the NBA as a whole and keep waiting for some kind of turnaround in it's structure. I long for the days of team play with skilled players. As much as I like Josh Smith he should be in the NBDL as a Hawks player much like the new CBA will help. I enjoyed Jordan's quote that the young guys should go to college so that skilled, veteran players can stick around in this league. I'm tired of the marketing of stars and would much rather have teams marketed. As much as I enjoyed this past Finals it did not have near the luster as the finals of the 80's and early 90's. It makes me sick that we have to gamble a number 2 pick on a guy with 1 year of college experience and whose game and abilities are in question. The NBA to me is standing on its last legs with true basketball fans. What I mean by true is guys who go out and play pickup games and know how important and fun team play is. How annoying is it when you play a game of pickup and one guy dribbles down and shoots it everytime often unbalanced because he is more athletic than others. Bring back the midrange jumpers and the motion offense. Move the shotclock back to 35 seconds and get guys off the freaking 3 point line. Done Ranting...
