JTFan31
we cannot play defense worth a penny. It is terrible, I think teams actually get trigger happy when they us. Dont be calling me overreacting, because my patience has just ran out, we got lucky last night at home against a 3-11 heat team and now we are getting blown out. I have had patience for 3 years and it has ran out, we suck and we are not going anywhere until we get an NBA experience coach, Kruger is college material. Gray Mule
Our defense is embarising. Being laughed at by the opposition as we were last night is not right. I don't know how the coaching staff of the Hawks is set up. Who is responsible for what aspect of the game plan for the Hawks. What do the assistant coaches bring to the table? I know the head coach is the one who must bring everything together to form the finished product, but is there an area of the game that each assistant is responsible for? Dan Reaves and the Falcons had a terrible defense for quiet a while. Then they added Phillips as an assistant coach and put him in charge of that aspect of the game. It is his responsibility to set up and prepare the defense. They have several coaches and each one is responsible for different things. If you are a Falcon fan then you know what a difference Phillips has made for Atlanta this season. M. Vick gets all the headlines but the play of the offensive line is greatly improved. This part of the team also has a special coach. Do you get what I'm saying? Hawks need an assistant coach whose responsibility is the defense. We may already have one of the assistant coaches designated for this task. As I said, I don't know how this is set up. If we don't have one, then we need to get one. If we have one, that individual is not doing his job or he doesn't have the defensive talent to work with to get the job done. In either case, this problem needs to be addressed if Hawks are going to continue to improve. Look what Phillips has done for the Falcons. He is not the head coach but he has made the head coach look good, the team look good and the defense look good. Hawks need to find their own version of Phillips for their NBA team. Players cost millions -- There is the salary cap to consider. Assistant coaches cost much less and don't affect the cap. Hire a defensive guru for the Hawks and put him to work or give one of the assistant coaches the title of head defensive coach, put him in the spotlight as such and see what happens. Let him develop the defensive plans and schemes for the team. This is the age of specialists. Things are just too complicated for one person to be responsible for everything. What do you think? Does this line of thought have some merit or is the old man lost over in left field somewhere?
