I figure Portland would do well with:

JT/Anderson/Grob/Zach/Theo...

I think we would do equally as well with:

McInnis/Bonzi/Sheed/Reef/Nazr...

It's a trade that everybody walks away satisfied. Our only problem will be next year. Will we rebuild or resign?

No Bonzi Wells. The guy continues to regress at such

a young age and having a player that says the fans

don't matter isn't exactually going to make people

want to come.

Hey Well's contract is 1 year 7 million to us. BY trade deadline, teams will be lining up for his services. BY that time also, either Diaw or Travis should be ready to step up and play big time.

The best part of this trade is that these players all have ending contracts. More importantly is that they all have VALUE. They are indeed tradable. But even if we don't trade them, we'd have 30 million dollars created in Salary cap next year. What that means is that we'd have money to go after Kobe and KG and whoever decides to sign the 1 year deal this year and all those free agents to come out of DJ's class.

But don't be fooled:

McInnis/Wells/Wallace/Reef/Nazr could be a team that could put up a lot of points and play some decent defense & you know PTL would do it.

I would definitely not do this deal. I would like to keep JT here as long as his contract demands aren't rediculous., he at least seems like he wants to be here. I'm not one who really wants to trade Theo either but if we are, I think we can get a better deal for Grob/Theo. I know you basis of trade was concerning the salary cap, but I'm going to look at it as how it actually helps our team's ability on the court. I think Rasheed and Bonzi would ruin any chemistry that we have so far, that may not be much but still. There are a slew of teams looking for a Center and I'm sure all of them would want Theo. Like I said, I don't want to trade Theo because I don't think there are any players like him that we could pick up elsewhere.

I have to disagree here. I understand what you're saying about maybe off the court... BUT these guys may have reputations but as players, these guys would really fit better than what we have now... Let me explain.

NOW

JT - Undersize SG playing PG. Not really skilled at being a Playmaker. Would make a good SG if he had a good OG. Therefore he's INC.

Diaw - If he's our SG... Rookie. Will have to learn to play in this league with much better talent than he's used to playing. The fact that he's not such a hot scorer in Europe is a problem being that teams will probably leave him open and dare him to score.

Grob - Scorer... But not really a Defensive Standout. Doesn't handle the ball well. Not really a three point shooter. He's a classic scoring Sf.

SAR - PF with really good Low post skills. Very good offensive player. Doesn't exhibit the give me the ball attitude of a Superstar.

Theo - Defensive Specialist. Tree Rollins for 2003, Without the size. NOt a scorer, undersized C, weak rebounder.

After trade

McInnis - PG capable of scoring. However, he is a PG. Would be a good transition PG with the development of Dickau.

Bonzi - Classic scoring SG. Plays defense. Has suspect Knees. Could easily be a 20/5 player from the SG position. Very Strong and can play Low Post as well as three point shooter.

Sheed - NonClassic PF. He's like any Euro PF. He likes to stand on the three point line. Therefore his game is like that of a Big SF. He can score and can easily be a 17/9 Player. Plays good defense. His problem was Technical fouls but he has mellowed in the last couple of years.

Reef - See Above.

Nazr - Very good rebounding C. NOt a good defender. He's a decent scoring C. He compliments Reef better than Theo because he has Size and offensive ability.

The way I see it, a real PG with a Real SG and Reef and Sheed putting up nearly 40/20 together means that we have more balance. We actually have an inside outside game. We actually have scorers at every position. I'm sure our rebounds will go up maybe 1.5 times what they are now. Defensively I think we'd remain abou the same. For all the shots that Theo Blocks, he also gives up points because of his lack of strength. There's little intimidation from most big men.

If we are looking to move Theo than I think Mavericks would throw something good at us.

Either Grob/Theo for Finley/solid filler or Theo/CC for Finley which I'm pretty sure Dallas wouldn't do. If they did take the 2nd deal, though, I would look at moving Grob for a Center.

JT/Finley/Diaw/SAR/Nazr?

I'd definitely want someone else at starting C.

You might be right, who knows.....but I will tell you that I personally would rather have.....

JT/Finley/Diaw/SAR/Nazr than McInnis/Wells/Sheed/SAR/Nazr

The Portland team might be more talented but I see more promise in the future from the 1st squad. I don't see Sheed resigning with us and McInnis definitely isn't a long-term solution.

My question with Nazr is health. But he does fit better

with SAR because he hits the offensive boards and can

score without slowing the offense down.Theo can score,

but it seems like when Deke tried to score....Theo's offense

game is very ugly...but Nazr can get junk baskets and

score without hurting the offensive flow.

Thus far, Nazr has had no chronic injuries. So I don't think that there's a risk of him being out continuously. And Yes, I think offensively he's a much better match with SAR than Theo for the same reasons you pointed out. I also like the fact that he does rebound well. With an increasingly weaker C position, I think Nazr is a bargain.
