CWebb
Looking at the box score and at the shotchart, it's pretty obvious Smith, Williams AND HORFORD lost the game for us. The Bulls outrebounded the Hawks 50 to 28 !!!!!!!!!! How is it even possible ?... We gotta realize that AL is overated by this board. You can complain he shot only 8 times. The truth is he cant' score the ball very well, he can't create his own shot, he has no post game and can only play the pick and pop game. Seriously... He didn't take a shot in the paint tonight, not a single one... In the same time, i saw a lot of people jumping on Joe Johnson while he is the only player on our team trying to score in the paint right now. He doesn't get any credit for that, but Joe took 7 shots in the paint tonight. At least he's trying.

Josh is the reason we lost this game. Josh holds AL back. Its not a coincidence that when we played the Bulls the 1st time we won with Josh not playing. Al was able to do his thing, when Josh comes back this happens.
LastDon
When he ferociously clapped for that basketball on the wing that jus did it for me..I still like our personel I jus feel like they are not being used effectively.. Josh Smith as a number 2 option is jus idiotic to me...

DJlaysitup
We also have to realize that we have 4 bigs (Collins, Etan, JP, and Hilton) who are totally useless. The reason for this lack of depth (IMO) is that BK traded two 1st round picks (along with Diaw) to get JJ (and could have gotten him cheaper). It killed our depth - especially with a relatively poor ownership group. You simply CANNOT give away the farm for one guy and expect to excell unless you are SURE that one guy is the man. BK was a moron and we are still reaping from the seeds he sowed. When we did have our picks BK p!ssd em away on guys like Shelden.:saythat:

Eddielives
So everybody is in love with Horford. He won't be criticized... It's kind of hard for Horford to get more shots closer to the basket when we have so much of a dependency on the jumpshot by our wing players......and Josh pretending to be a wing player. Plus, Horford is a better shooter than Josh. Al is consistently nailing that 15-18 foot jumper this year. I just hope that somehow the organization can move Josh this summer and replace him with a decent center to put Al at the 4. It would be a positive move in the right direction. I think the future of this team right now hinges on this guy who is making a bid to buy the Hawks. Until then, I'm pretty hopeless about the rest of this season and the playoffs. Premium Member Diesel Posted March 12, 2011 Premium Member Report Share Posted March 12, 2011 So everybody is in love with Horford. He won't be criticized... Nope... Josh is an idiot and Horf has become a jump shooting little b*tch. I was mad as hell watching last night. These guys might not win another game. We have no inside play. The few times Horf did get the ball inside in the second, he quickly passed it out....Otherwise, he shot from outside. The people on this board do overrate Horf and Josh. Both are seen as top 10 in their position and the truth is that they are too SOFT. Where is Reggie Evans and Kurt Thomas when you need them? Oh... That's right, Thomas was on the Bulls last night laying bone rattling picks on HInrich.

PaceRam
Diesel: I have been wondering the same thing! I have been wanting the Hawks to trade for Reggie Evans for years! Although, he is not a Center (and, he is not going to score a lot of points) he is a Rebounding Machine (and, seems to me that the Hawks have needed rebounding help for years!)! Horford may be overrated by some on this board but you must have a very different definition of soft than most people. Hell, he's made himself an all star playing out of position against guys bigger than he is! Yet he's soft? You might want to explain that a little more. MaceCase
Hate him or love him, Woody had defined roles for our bigs in the years past. Horford developing his jumper was a necessity and was at the insistence of Woody given that he was and is facing larger competition at his position every night. This was also done to allow Josh to operate in the post with single coverage. Josh's size and weight are both average at his position and given his athleticism and time spent with Dream (not the producer) he was a beyond effective post player the past two years punishing teams one on one and having them be unable to double due to his passing ability and Horf being lights out. Marvin was asked to take his once devastating midrange game and extend it out to the three point line in order to allow Horf to now occupy the midrange, Josh the post and create better spacing for Joe's iso game. This is the s*** that Woody made work. He didn't care about fancy plays, sets or making sure everyone got touches, all he cared about was perfect floor balance and spacing and having faith in our primary scorers' one on one ability and the secondary scorers' ability to hit created shots. Once Woody left and Marvin's jumper was confirmed down the toilet the frontcourt fell into disarray. There's no more spacing from the 3 spot and Josh free lancing everywhere but in the paint has taken away looks that Horf would usually see due to the defense shading the post. Something so simple as a 60/40 swing in where a player gets his points and another player losing a couple percentage points on his jumper has thrown off the whole group, the only way they can be salvaged is either by a personnel change or the players reverting back to their former roles that they were drilled into the previous seasons. Horf is not likely to develop 2 inches and 15 pounds at C so Josh is going to have to reoccupy his position on the right block and Marvin is going to have to be at the minimum a respectable spot up shooter again for this group to coexist together. Defensively they've been fine individually and as group especially since Hinrich was added but offensively they are a mess. It seems weve also gone out of our way to not bring in anyone who is vocal and thats disturbing.
tremor
There are reasons Bulls are the best rebounding team in the league - they hustle, they outbox, they crowd the paint and, last but not least, they know their positions when the ball is shot. Effort and discipline. A couple of times there were two bulls attacking offensive glass and one hawk close to the rim. On defensive glass three Bulls players crash the boards almost every time.
