Minnesota waived Jason Collier today

And we "NEED" to pick him up. Collier has been in no win situations since entering the league but let's take a look at the player.

He's 7'0" 260 lbs which is bigger than anyone on our current roster. His best game last year was a 20 minute performance at Cleveland where he went for 11 points and 8 rebounds. He appeared in only 13 games seeing a total of 104 minutes. Why, Yao and other more seasoned in front of him.

At Georgia Tech, he average 17 points and 8 rebounds his last 2 seasons. He's only 26.

We need a big body. Although never asked to shoot outside, shot 37% from the college 3 point line.

I'm not saying make him the center of the future, but he'll sign for the minimum (especially to come back to the ATL) and is a better use of money than a number of players fighting for spots right now.

According to realgm, the players under guaranteed contract are:

SAR, Ratliff, Henderson, Nazr, Crawford

Terry, Jackson, Diaw, Glover, Dickau, Vaughn, Nailon, Hansen

That's 13 but I'm not sure if Nailon or Hansen's contracts are guaranteed. Cut 1 player, stash one on the IR (probably henderson with his bad back) and you can sign Collier.

I hate how we're going into the season so small. If either Theo or Nazr the steel foot go down for any time, we're stuck with Henderson at center again.

I really wish we could just lose DD (true, I might regret it later, but I doubt it) and, much as I hate it, CC (just can't trust him and have no idea what he can bring at this point) and sign someone like him....and further down the road, lose Hansen and sign a three point specialist more in the mold of Paitowski, Kerr, etc. for spot duty...

PS - OE's contract is guaranteed, and so is Brandon's, though whether or not either take up space on the IR I don't know...I would think Brandon would till Feb., when he becomes an insurance case.

honestly, i saw Eddie House play today (hes on the clippers) vs the lakers... i was very impressed.

announcers even went far and called him a miniIverson... but thats a stretch.

i'd call him a poormans Jason Terry.

My ideal backup PG is someone who is fast, got shooting touch, handle the rock with ease, and can make plays.

I wouldnt mind seein Marcus Hatten as i called him a poormans JT last year.
