Do people really want to build the "new Hawks" around Josh Smith?

Sometimes, it's about the money (But not always).

Sometimes, it's about winning. Before now, if a player came to Atlanta,

as JJ did, it was primarily about the money. Would he have signed for

less so that he could be a Hawk? (Pause here for laugh)

In order to attract and sign those hot free agents and have other great

players asking to be traded here, we must somehow become "The place to be."

How does this happen? Well, the big three of the current World Champions

agreed to come together and play for less than they might have demanded

so that they might be in position to win it all, which they have now done.

When is it, if you are a great NBA player, when you can say, "Enough is enough,

I just want to win." Other players joined their big three, taking less than they

might have been paid somewhere else, to be a part of winning it all.

Allen, late of the Boston Celtics, is set to sign with the champions. He will

be paid approximately one half of what the Bean Town team would pay him.

Why? Because he wants a chance to win one more ring.

Now, Atlanta believes it has the possibility of one player who would qualify

as a part of our own big three. Josh. If, somehow, Atlanta could sell Josh,

Superman and CP3 on the idea that Atlanta is "The place to be" and, together,

if they would all play for a reasonable amount of money, leaving plenty to sign

other desireable players, they could very well "Go for the gold" and win it all.

We read where the Lakers will have a new PG next season and that alone makes

them favored to go far. Imagine Atlanta, with all the talent we have, adding those

other two highly desireable pieces. Free agents would be more than willing to

come here to big A and play for the Hawks.

It is only human nature to want to be paid every cent possible. However, it is also

human nature to want to be a part of "Winning it all." Apparently, in the NBA, you

can't do both. You can't take all the money you can get. You've got to leave some

of it to pay someone else.
