Hawks bench this season

I have read several things from the national media concerning our Hawks

for this upcoming season. They have a lot to say about our bench.

At first, this may strike us as being a fine thing. But, upon further examination,

we find that their ideas were not complimentary. Not at all.

Seems, in their opinion, Atlanta has two starters of NBA caliber, Horford and

J Smoove. They then concede that our designated starting PG is a borderline

starter in the NBA.

Breaking things down, we have two, possibly three, starters. All the others are

bench players in the NBA, I take this to mean that, on any other team in the NBA,

Smith and Horford would start and if the team was weak, our PG just MIGHT get

to start.

Well, Bull Feathers. Here I am thinking that this Hawk team may make some noise

this season and win our share of games. If we are to believe this, our chances of

having a winning season are slim and none with Slim on life support.

And, these national sports writers are always right, aren't they??

Guess we will just have to go ahead and play all those games any way. I'm not

ready to give up everything - - not yet. Are you?

GO HAWKS!!!

They neeeeeever learn. Never. Ironic that so-called experts are always the ones getting it so wrong every year. The only thing they're expert at is miscalculating.

I'm ready to give up. I mean this team is so weak we'll probably have a first round exit from the playoffs.Last year we had one scoring wing on the team. Now we have a few. These teams are really different but we still have teague/josh/al/zaza who do a lot of the work. It may not work out but i'm optimistic. Plus i think Drew is underrated.

Well, Teague could start at Utah and the Hornets. He would compete at Chicago, Charlotte, Orlando and Phoenix. EVERYWHERE ELSE, He is on the bench.

In fact I expect him to sit in crunch time here. (Crunch time=Harris,Lou,Josh,Al,Zaza). So as far as Teague, 23 other teams have a much better PG and 4 others are as good.

I wonder how much Ben Wallace have left in his tank? If he can bring 12 quality minutes a game, I'd rather have him than Petro. If it is feasable, Zaza starts and Ben, Ivan, DeShawn with Lou and Devin would be overwhelming with respect of rebounding and running.

I'm not going to question about Teague starting in other places because i haven't looked but I would have guessed more than 4. A lot more. As for crunch time though having Harris and Lou as our backcourt will be a layup drill for the other team I think. What makes Teague a starter is that he has a more complete game. I think we will see a much improved Teague this year and he was really solid last year.

Didn't we go through this with Teague? Just go team by team and see where he would possibly start.

Boston - NO

Brooklyn - NO

Philly - NO

Toronto - Hate to say it, but NO . . he's not better than Calderon

New York - YES ( but playing under Woody . . . I don't know )

Chicago - YES ( but straight to the bench when Rose came back )

Indiana - NO

Milwaukee - NO

Detroit - YES ( I would hope he could beat out Brandon Knight )

Cleveland - NO

Miami - YES

Charlotte - NO ( Kemba Walker will play the point this year )

Washington - NO

Orlando - He's not overtaking Jameer Nelson yet . . NO

Atlanta - YES ( but I can definitely see a scenario in which Harris overtakes him if he struggles )

New Orleans - if they don't play Eric Gordon at PG . . YES

Houston - NO

Dallas - Good battle between he and Darren Collison . . I'll say YES

San Antonio - NO

Memphis - NO

Oklahoma City - NO

Utah - NO . . ( but if Mo Williams struggled shooting, he could replace him )

Denver - NO

Minnesota - YES ( but not when Rubio comes back )

Portland - Great battle between he and rookie Damian Lilliard . . I say YES

LA Lakers - NO

LA Clippers - NO

Golden St - NO

Sacramento - NO

Phoenix - YES

So 10 of the 30 teams Teague would start on. But it could be as little as 6 teams.

The facts about this team are this

- Smith and Horford are by far our best players and have All-Star potential

- Our next 3 best players are all PGs

- Zaza is barely a starter level C, but a good backup C

- Guys like Korver, Morrow, and Stevenson are one-dimensional specialists

- Ivan is the wild card of the bunch, but can he get enough playing time to really be effective

- Jenkins may be buried on the bench, unless the small guard lineup is truly ineffective

- The rest of the roster should be in street clothes
