I am not going to discuss the Korver signing as I have made my points on it but this side discussion of Batum vs Korver is just madness. Batum is a much better player than Korver. What hurt Batum's offensive numbers starting in Jan I believe was this very bad wrist injury that he refused to get surgery on despite being advised to do so and he played the rest of the season with it. I should know, I had him on my fantasy teams and he was a flat out beast the first couple months while healthy and he was significantly worse after the injury.

But to compare those two there is no comparison. I would trade Korver in a nano second for Batum. Portland would never trade Batum for Korver.

George is not a great shooter so all the other stuff like defense , rebound and create his own shot don't matter here lol

Not sure what you are getting at here?Paul George was a big reason they played in the ECF. I thought his MIP award was bogus..but I never really saw him play much honestly. He's good...I'd never put him on the same field as Batum. Maybe the other George (Hill) but not Paul George. I'd take PG without thinking twice.

Batum has gotten progressively worse each of the past 4 seasons, after peaking in his ridiculous 2nd season. Last season his win shares per 48 were .01 below what is considered the league average player of .100. Please defend that.

Did we sign Korver to a contract paying him 21mil this year? No wait that was Joe!Do we even know the terms of the contract? Team options? Are all years fully guaranteed? partial gaurantee? possible buyout in last year? Why not wait for actual terms before jumping off a cliff and running around squawking that the sky is falling.Could be: 4 year deal/ player option 3rd year/ team option 4th year/ partial gaurantee 4th year/2 Million dollar buyout 4th year - so many options!!!

Danny Green can't create his own shot and did pretty well in the playoffs. Same for Mike Miller and Shane Battier. Hell I could name you a dozen guys in the past 10 years in the finals alone who've done pretty damn well being guys who can't create their own shot but really excel at knocking down the 3.

Robert Horry not good at creating his own shot but well known for knocking down the 3

It's fine to say it's madness, but it would be better to support your argument.

Batum is an elite wing defender, Korver is not.

Batum can create his own shot, Korver can not.

Batum can attack the basket at will, Korver can not.

Batum can pass and create offense, Korver can not.

Batum is a steals and blocks nightmare both man to man and weak side, Korver is not.

Batum's wrist injury is probably the only thing that kept him from the All Star game, Korver will never be an All Star.

Batum is significantly younger than Korver, Korver is not significantly younger than Batum.

Go to a neutral NBA forum and ask if people would rather have Korver or Batum. I am fairly certain who would come out the winner.

Can I ask on a neutral forum that has stat-minded people on it? Or does it have to be a numberless, subjective place?

This has to be the most posts on any thread in this short amount of time...

WELCOME BACK KORVER! LET THE STREAK CONTINUE!

Elite ANYTHING defenders don't have 1.9 defensive wins shares for an entire season.

And that is why Batum is making almost double what Korver will.

Why are we even comparing Korver and Batum? Korver is strictly a 3 point specialist, and Batum is strictly a good up and coming all around Small Forward.

Oh and I almost forgot, BATUM IS NOT FREAKING AVAILABLE! SO IF YOU WANT HIM SO BAD, BECOME A BLAZERS FAN. DAMN.

Jus sayin how many times has korver garnished enough attention to draw a double team to free up someone else to score? IMO that is creating off opportunity for the team can't say that I have seen that outta batum

Korver would be so proud of this thread. Who cares if the fans in the arena cheer for other teams...On the 'Squawk you got the longest thread of this young offseason. See man, we do care!

Tanking or not, Korver at 6 mil a year? I have read that you don't have to spend 90% of your cap space on free agents, just whatever is left can be towards the players you do have. Is that correct? If so, if one wanted to truly tank, just sign vet min players and give the rest to Horford for him to sit. Posted Image

You have to spend 90% of the cap to fill the team. We cannot give Al anymore money.
