I'm starting to get what Ferry is doing now

Trying to add salary, picking up players on short deals for potential trades to better the team, while staying competitive in the short term. That is what I see him doing.

No matter what Ferry does now, it's not going to fill seats. Hawks struck out on star players, Hawks have bad karma because of POS ownership.

I think the interest in Ellis is about the scoring punch. You need someone to take to the ball and the end of the game, and Ellis is actually fairly well rated in "clutch" metrics (see 82games.com). I'm really reaching to fit Ellis into the plan. I guess it should be noted that Ellis was targeted at the deadline as well, so DF must have legitimate interest.

That's my only way of having this make sense too. Even still I think there are cheaper options out there who can fill the same role. I just don't get plugging this inefficient scorer into a team full of efficient ones. Maybe he's hoping the rest of the team will cancel Ellis out?
