2014 Falcons Mock Draft

This will probably change after free agency but I'm a draft junky.

Falcons 2014 Mock Draft: 6. Khalil Mack / OLB - Falcons get a versatile pass rushing specialist who can play standing up and with his hand in the dirt on 3rd downs. ( Think TD is married to Sam Baker, for better or worse, as our starting LT next year.

37. Antonio Richarson / OT - Pure RT prospect. Should be able to plug and play. If he struggles at RT he can be a mauler at RG.

68. Troy Niklas / TE - Rising TE who was recently moved from LB. If he is gone I look at Artie Lynch later in the draft I believe Supplemental picks start at the end of Round 3 but have not been announced yet....so there are not accurate pick #'s passed this point.

Rd 4. Anthony Steen / OG - Plenty of holes to fill on the OL. Simply put, take best OL available.

Rd 5 - Justin Ellis - Pure NT for 3-4 looks. Low center of gravity at 6'1'' and 336 lbs. We need a run stuffer. Small school kid out of La Tech.

Rd 5 Supplemental - Albert Wilson / WR - built like a RB at 5'9'' and 207 lbs. Ran the gauntlet drill perfectly at the combine catching every ball at the front tip with his hands. Ran official back to back 4.43 40's. Explosive on the field racking up YAC. Also ran 2 kicks back for TDs. Another small school kid from Ga

StateRd 6 - Jerick McKinnon / RB - Tore it up at the combine. Another small school kid from Ga Southern. If he is gone I take another RB with speed. Maybe Oregon's De' Anthony Thomas is still around.

Rd 6 Supplemental - Tom Savage / QB - big tall pro style QB to compete for the #2 job.

Rd 7 - Larry Webster / DE - Tall 6'6'' small school kid. Take a swing on the small school kids here.

Rd 7 Supplemental - Jonathan Dowling / FS - Tall and lanky at 6'3'' / 190 lbs. Another small school kid from WKU.

Edited to correct format. Mock draft done weeks before the accurate supplemental picks were known.

Picks are now known with the League announcing where the 32 Compensatory pick will go. Falcons got 3 of them including a 4th rounder. Early projections called for a 5th rounder........so we should be real happy with this.

Atlanta Falcons picks are:

1 rd. #6

2 rd. # 37

3 rd. # 68

4 rd. #103

4 rd. #139

5 rd. #147

6 rd. #182

7 rd. #220

7 rd. 253

7 rd. 255

#6 - Kahlil / OLB - Mack can play some DE when needed but is better as a 3-4 OLB. He is a pure pass rusher and fits a major need.

#37 - Morgan Moses - talented LT prospect. If he is gone then I target Antonio Richardson. He was good enough to play LT in the SEC but most see him as a RT in the NFL.

#68 - Terrance Brooks / FS - Very athletic FS with good size and length. Played for the BCS Champs FSU.

#103 - Arthur Lynch / TE - All SEC TE who can both run and catch well. Very strong for blocking in the run game.

#139 - Justin Ellis - Pure NT for 3-4 looks. Low center of gravity at 6'1'' and 336 lbs. We need a run stuffer. Small school kid out of La Tech.

#147 - Albert Wilson / WR - built like a RB at 5'9'' and 207 lbs. Ran the gauntlet drill perfectly at the combine catching every ball at the front tip with his hands. Ran official back to back 4.43 40's. Explosive on the field racking up YAC. Also ran 2 kicks back for TDs. Another small school kid from Ga

#182 - Jerick McKinnon / RB - Tore it up at the combine. Another small school kid from Ga Southern. If he is gone I take another RB with speed. Maybe Oregon's De' Anthony Thomas is still around.

#220 Supplemental - Tom Savage / QB - big tall pro style QB to compete for the #2 job.

#253 - Larry Webster / DE - Tall 6'6'' small school kid. Take a swing on the small school kids here.

#255 - Andrew Norwell / OG - OSU corn-fed OL.

Rd 7 Supplemental - Jonathan Dowling / FS - Tall and lanky at 6'3'' / 190 lbs. Another small school kid from W

Who'd y'all lose that warranted a 4th rounder? We lost the former #1 overall pick in the draft who signed a big contract with the Rams and we didn't even get a freaking 7th rounder this year as a pick. Dolphins clearly being punished by the league for their locker room issues this year.

I think it was from your Miami Dolphins signing Brent Grimes - Thanks :-) Edited by JayBirdHawk

Well thought out. I think I'd rather see us take a swing at a guy like Attachou in the 2nd or 3rd (depending on how good his pro day is). I also think a guy like Andre Williams from BC needs to be on our radar. A big power back that can replace what Snelling brought to the table.

Decent but you only have us taking one pass rusher....think you're low balling it there. Plus I think we all know that at some point TD will make a trade especially with him now having that extra 4th. He's gonna trade our 4th at some point so I can't really do a mock just knowing TD is going to throw that curveball out there. Actually I'm thinking he's gonna trade back, to many holes to fill.

Agree. I could see the 3-4 OLB prospect from Louisville, Marcus Smith, being a target in the 2nd or 3rd round. We have given him a lot of attention.

I could also see Dee Ford and Anthony Barr being pass rush targets if we move down in the 1st round.

Either one of those guys would be fine with me. Some kin of way we need to find a pass rusher, OT, and FS early in this draft. I'm not married to any specific prospect I just want needs met.

Attachou, Lawrence, Ealey, or Van Noy would fill the pass rusher need at pick #36.
