The differences are that ...

1) Atlanta is already an event city and a tourist destination.

2) It's in the population center, not 60 - 100 miles away from the population center, like Atlantic City is.

3) Hartsfield-Jackson Intl. Airport is the busiest in the world, with over 100 million passengers passing through.

4) Next to LA and New York, there are more rich and famous people living in, and going through Atlanta, than anywhere

Atlanta is STILL one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the WORLD.  Letting that revenue slide to other casino destinations is not fiscally responsible. Thats what the mayor said even though he opposes casinos.

None of those American locations are state capitals.   Those have issues that "casinos" contribute or outright create.   Is not as simple as y'all think.

The casino in Baltimore ( Caesar's Horseshoe ) did well in its first 12 months

- 23 million in revenue ( projected 30 million )

- paid 6.3 million in taxes

- created 1,100 jobs

And this is despite 3 other casinos in Maryland ... and the Baltimore Uprising (riots) temporarily scaring people away for a few weeks.

A casino ( which will end up being multiple casinos ) will be a home run in Atlanta.

It's not like they're talking about putting casinos in Savannah, GA.  Savannah would be the equivalent of Atlantic City.
