It is a real shame that this isn't a strong FA class this offseason but having a lot of cap space when most teams won't have any is definitely a good thing.  So the smaller the cap/tax line, the more valuable our space becomes.

Depends on how much Schlenk is actually planning to dive into the 2020 FA pool. There's always been a solid argument to wait for the 2021 FA one. Theoretically, he's going to be looking to land two elite big fish, and theoretically, unless Davis surprises everyone, there's not even one to be had in the 2020 pool.

Our space isn't just valuable for signing players, though.  As cap space becomes more scarce, it makes it more valuable for trades and to facilitate action for other teams.  That can be like taking on dead weight for a draft pick but isn't limited to that.

True that. But even at that... the big visibly-consequential goal remains the big visibly-consequential goal. The other stuff is lower on the priority list and... in the big picture... not all that consequential.

Despite an expected decline in the original projection, an overall increase in revenues will still elevate the cap from $109.1M this year. https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1222763613510868994

If we take on more salary dumps next year then we will know what Schlenk is.

If the team doesn't add real veterans as the focus of their cap room and instead spends the vast majority bringing in losers like Crabbe, Turner and Parsons as salary dumps then it will indeed make a lot of our worst fears about management come to fruition.  I'm betting on that not being the case.
