The "make good" Falcons

2022 Falcons will have a lot of 1 year contract veteran players that hopefully have a very good season.

The list starts with Markus Mariota, a 2wo year QB and what we hope will be a better offensive line.

Big help may come there with 2 second round and 2 third round picks.

The Falcons very nearly made the playoffs last year.  Folks can give all that credit to Ryan but he didn't look like a positive much of the season to me.   If Mariotta is healthy i think this team can surprise people.  I don't expect a super bowl but there were plenty of signs that if the defense wasn't on the field so much we'd have won a few more.

Our time of possession was near the bottom only beating out Jets, Jags, Seahawks.   Not good company.

I don’t know what’s gonna happen but a good player is falling to you at 8. Sit there and take “that guy”, there might actually be 2 great ones left at 8th pick.

Three choices at #8 and we hope that at least one of the three will be there.

1. Future QB.  He would have a year to know and grow under Marcus Marieta.

2. A great wide receiver having speed and good hands.

3. A big, fast defensive end, line backer who can pressure the QB.

Falcons had a very poor offensive line last season, ranking #27 I believe.  We must improve.  This is their greatest need.  Hoping there will be some really good ones in round 2 and 3 of the draft.  This is where most of these players are found and they seem to play for many years.

Malik Willis or Desmond Ridder

3. A big, fast defensive end,

Between Hutchinson (1st) Thibodeaux and Walker somebody has to fall.

If not you have the safety Kyle Hamilton waiting.

The Falcons will be getting a star ⭐️ here if they play their cards right. Given their draft position at 8, it’s really hard to mess this up.

So many holes to fill and very little $$$ money to spend.  Falcons continue to sign veteran players to short term deals and must, some how, come up with enough money to sign all their draft picks.

Fans still have no clue from the brain thrust of the Falcons about that #8 draft pick.  There are so many great options out there and still so many wants for the team to fill.  There is some talk of trading this pick for two later picks.  So many needs is the reason.  Fifteen days and then we find out!

Several new Falcons are recovering.  They have played well, then were injured.  These players are available at a very reasonable cost because of these injuries.  Money is still very tight.  A move or two will be necessary for the Falcons to sign all their draft picks.

Our new #1 QB is among those who are returning from injuries.  If he is 100% recovered and can remain injury free, Atlanta will have a great year.  Last year's defensive coach came on board and used who he had.  This off season has brought some changes.  The draft, more, we hope.

Draft coming this Thursday.  While the Falcons have signed several free agents for the upcoming season, we have several good draft picks coming.  They must do some creative thinking before they can sign all of them.  This is how tight their payroll is right now.  Too much dead $$$$ that can't be used.

Falcons expected to have a great payroll space next season as all the dead payroll expires.

Monday Night Football ;  2nd preseason game @ NY Jets.  I wonder if Trae will attend since he is so loved in NY!  Even after winning our 1st preseason game, Falcons are considered one of the worst teams in the NFL.  Beat writers for Atlanta have some nice things to say about our team but most national sports writers rank the Falcons really, really low.

Regardless of what happens tonight and next week in our final preseason game, the real answers about this Falcon team will begin to be answered when we play the Saints in our 1st regular season game.  Right now, the Falcons are expected to win one of their first six or seven games.

🧑‍🔧UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

Yeah but why. Tuggle son and aj are top 2 at their positions.

No doubt. You guys got good players. Just kinda went through the schedule predicting wins and losses.

Again, I hope I’m wrong, that’s just what I counted, 2-15.

Despite some saying, "Two wins," I believe.  Why?

So many national sports writers have a very low opinion of our quarterback stable.  Sure, he hasn't started the past two seasons.  Remember, he won that Heisman trophy in college because he's good and he's still good.  Mariota is not Matty Ice.  He's a lot more mobile.  So is Ridder.

These same sports writers decry our receivers.  They lost Jones when he was traded away and their top receiver from last season has been suspended for at least the season.  This seems to mean that we have nothing left there.

Falcons have made no changes is their offensive or defensive lines and they were the worst in the NFL last season.  That statement is not entirely true plus they have a year's experience that they didn't have before.  Pees has worked hard to improve all of the defense and the offense will be different with the new QB.

Falcons will be playing a much tougher schedule this upcoming season when compared to last year.  All these very good teams.  Not all of them will remain great.  Injuries happen.  And sometimes teams aren't nearly as good as we first thought.  Nationally, the Atlanta Falcons are ranked #29.  That's just off the bottom.

Looking up.  You can do that when you are on the bottom.  Looking up and fighting for every inch we can gain and mad as can be.  Just two wins?  Come and get you some of this sorry Falcon team!

Yes!  They talk about not having Ridley but we didn't have him much last year.  In fact, when he played he was pretty terrible.  We're going to beat the Saints twice so we only have to get one other win to beat expectations.

Just read the latest guestimate on Sunday's game from eight sports writers.  Suprise!  All eight picked the Saints.  Adding their guesses together, divide by eight + Saints 25 - Falcons 15.

If we are to believe them, Atlanta has no chance.

By the way, in last night's game, Rams were the favorite.  Final score Bills 31 - Rams 10.

Pressure?  You bet.  If Saints win, so what.  If Atlanta wins, gasp!  Oh, no!  How terrible would the home folks down in Saints country feel?  Our beloved Saints were expected to win, and they didn't.  Woe is us!

😆
