Spud2nique
Needs his own thread on this one I’m sorry. 20 win club for the Braves. Only a few have matched this feat. The names: Glavine Smoltz Maddux (somewhat assumed) Denny Neagle Russ Ortiz (last to do so in 2003) https://www.mlb.com/news/kyle-wright-wins-20th-game-of-2022

He won 19 a bunch of times. Smoltz looks like only had that one 20+ year. But Maddux's Atlanta years and the ERA he put out there is amazing. Totally a dominant pitcher then. Smoltz and Glavine were great and clutch but not as consistently dominant as Maddux in my opinion.

I know Glavine was the master of 20 win years but he was never (to me) a dominating pitcher. I think Maddux was. Smoltz was too... especially in 96 when he blow through the league... but his one great year is trumped by Maddog's consistency. Unlike Glavine, I don't think you could ride Maddux 9 innings (the way we used him). Nobody ever says anything about Avery.
