The guy is clearly amazing. I've said that he has to be a 5'5" white dude that lives in his mom's basement and looks at ebony porn when he's not on hawksquawk.

Hey now, let's keep this thing clean.

I don't want to see this turn into the legendary (?) thread a few years back between Hotlanta and Playmaker, which contained a lot of vitriol, profanity, home addresses and phone numbers posted, fisticuffs proposed, duels declared, pistols at dawn kind of stuff.

If anyone here reads trackandfieldnews.com, I'd have to say that Diesel reminds me of Satch, who is #3 on my "best humans" list. (And yes, I do keep a list.)

Yeah and If I were, I'd be screwing your mom RIGHT NOW!

Why do you want to make it personal Final..

Do you want this to be your final quest.

If you don't like what i say then don't respond...

It's that simple...

But to try to insult me?? What have I ever said about you?

Well, Diesel I'm a long time reader, first time basher. (Although I won't bash...I'm entertained by your post)

Anyway, it's easy to look at our team and say it's the same as last year, but I totally disagree. I would think that by the time free agency is over we will look different than last year. We're like the Braves in a sense, they have:

3B - Chipper, Marte, Betemit

The Hawks have:

Harrington, Smoove, Williams

(Let the situation iron itself out - Injuries notwithstanding)

Athletically speaking, I like what we're becoming. No one said that this would be two year purge to greatness. It's a long haul build and I think the direction is great. I'm willing to bet there is improvement next year from this team.

Yep.. and the solution to the Braves problem will probably be a trade. I'm guessing that Chipper will eventually migrate to 1B, and LaRoche will be moved for pitching.

Since everyone here seems to agree that it takes depth to contend, what’s the problem with keeping Smoove, Marvin & Al? Why does one of them have to be traded? Will we get any player of long term and equal value via trade (realistically)? I have to agree with what BK said earlier today regarding each of them playing 32 minutes a game. That’s gonna be hard for other teams to contend with.

To directly answer your question...

You don't keep Depth at the price of giving up the same potential at a more needed position.

Now that we have Marvin (unless we can get Paul or Deron) which is probably impossible, we ought to keep all three. However, it was not a smart way to build. Especially considering that the hardest position to learn and the most important position to find is the position that we passed up on (a future star)..

Deester I won't bash you either..

This is what I say...

Marvin is not going to do better for us than Walker did. If you think the draft is a gamble, FAcy is a really big Gamble...

I just believe that with what we have right now, we have missed out on an opportunity to get a needed position filled for the next 10 yrs instead of drafting a player which we will have to put into a rotation and allowing that position to be filled by journeymen.

The great thing about all of this is that we'll all find out in time and it'll be fun seeing how it plays out. I guess I would be a little ragged if I didn't get the pick I was passionate about, but I did so I'm fine. It May be that we won't need a "superstar" point guard or a center; we may already have all the "stars" we need. I've been reading this board for over a year now and I really appreciate the passion that you guys bring, but I'm going to be passionate and patient. It took us years to get this screwed up and it's probably going to take a while to fix it.
