BlackHawkDown
I intentionally didnt look at the site sround draft time because I didnt want to watch the Bogut fan Club whine bout us not getting the first pick. Bogut has flop written all over him and will end up being a second rate Yao Ming. Instead we recieve a gem in Marvin Williams, he has great D, atheleticism, shooting range and attitude. He will give us what the Phoniex suns have two superstar forwards. Williams and Smith will both be 20/10 guys who also block 2 or 3 a game each and drop in a few steals. Childress and Diaw give us get ball handling and D at the 2, and truth be know I think Childress will give us a lil something scoring wise as well. But far more importantly we need Joe Johnson, who makes us a spectacular scoring threat he could easily make us a team with three 20ppg players. I have my suspicions about Curry and Dalambert, but Dalambert is what we need and atheletic shot blocker more interested in D, Running the court and rebounding than shooting. Curry has more potential but he will probably not realize it. Now Harrington is the X factor I say let him shine through mid-season and trade him for a excellent point, we dont need a scorer just someone who will push the ball, play great D and can threaten a three here and there. I really feel we missed out on Chris Paul, he could have put us in immediate contention, but Williams will be a perenial All Star. I told you all when you were whining about making the playoffs tryoing to sign Eurotrash and mediocre players so we could get knocked out of the playoffs that we need to lose big to get stars, now look at the results, we have capfor solid stars and rookies+sophmores that will be superstars. Final_quest
I hope you're right, but the history of the draft indicates that even top lottery picks don't always pan out. We have three guys in Childress, Marvin, and Smoove who may or may not become great players. On paper it looks great, but they have to produce on the court. That's why I'm glad we're going for Joe Johnson. Not to be pessimistic, but I'm guessing that one or two of our picks are not going to work out. BlackHawkDown
Yeah but remember, Josh Smith put up similar rookie numbers as KG, and better than Kobe. Childress I thouight was a waste but is actually a pleasant surpris. Williams is going to be a star question is just when? He is younger than Josh Smith. Gray Mule
Just hope Hawks can add a couple of good ones thru the free agency route. If so, we should be O.K. Otherwise - - - We're hurting.

BlackHawkDown
Yeah that is why your boy Kobe only put up 5 or 6 PPG 1st year but, with that said he still got similar PT and Kobe was playing th 1, 2 and the 3. LMBAO @ Kobe being a point but anyway, the Lakers were not exactly what they became then, besides Smith and KG were in similar situations and Smith put up the same numbers. Glad to see your still as pessimistic as ever. How have you been?

Plainview1981
Lookie here... So did Darius Miles http://www.nba.com/playerfile/darius_miles...x.html?nav=page http://www.nba.com/playerfile/kevin_garnet...x.html?nav=page Point? It doesn't mean a thing when talking Smith vs. KG as a rookie. I don't look at fools gold for extra positives. The meaningless comparing you do has nothing to do with being "pessimistic" it's being realistic.
BlackHawkDown
Damn I actually thought about that when I posted the comment aboyut KG but figured nobody would call me on it. But D.Miles is different because physically he isnt as strong as Smith, and I think Smith has better fundamentals. I am telling you now though Smith will be a 20/10 guy within 3 years. Talk [censored] about me and bring it up if it doesnt happen
Plainview1981
Josh might be stronger, but it isn't like he has a post game or anything. His skills right now arent much if any better. It's like the people that compare Kwame with Jermaine O'Neal.
cyman3
i think he has a great chance to become a 20/10 guy within 3 years... but hes gonna have to work hard to get it. I can see it happening!
Lascar78
I do think Smith will be a 20/10 player too, or close to it. To me, the main reason to believe in this is that he improved over his rookie year more than any player I've ever seen and I've followed the league for a good while. He still needs to improve his handle drastically if he ever wants to get 20 ppg, as well as his post moves. He can't get all his points off dunks and open jumpers. His jumper needs improving, but I think we saw progress as the year progressed. Now he needs to show progress with his handles, post moves and decision making. I have faith that he can do it even though it will take alot of work. He's young and motivated.

I hope our young birds don't "top out" too early in terms of developing as players. Only time will tell.
