I think he has demonstrated he can be a capable PG backup. Combine this with Turner's comments that he and Parsons should expect to get DNPs for the near future in favor of younger players, it seems the Hawks believe Goodwin can handle that role. Perhaps some buyouts will help to free up roster spots by the time of the trade deadline.

Count me among those that was fooled by the defense we played in first few games. I thought we turned a corner as a team as we don't have a scoring problem but a problem stopping other teams from scoring. I don't understand how we allow so many non contested drives to the basket, especially on PnR plays. The body language of the players does not look good when this happens. I can't imagine this is part of the plan the team envisioned going into this season.

He's getting a chance to prove he still has 'it' and will probably look to leverage that into a multi-year contract with a team that gives him a chance to start. I'd love to see him remain here and become like Lou Williams, a sniper off the bench. At 24, I can understand if he is looking for long term security with a big contract.

Jones was 'baited' into several offensive charges last night (good defensive strategy by the Suns) however as he learns to turn his head on the PnR, he will be able to stay out of foul trouble and contribute more to the team. So far, the results have been pretty good and will only improve as he gels with his teammates. I need to look closer regarding his rim protection abilities. During the pregame show, it was mentioned that Pierce and Len concluded that Len was better coming off the bench, after having a chance to see the flow of the game. The last two games proved that out with Jones starting. If the Hawks can consistently get 20-25 points with 10-15 rebounds from the 5 spot, primarily through PnR and cleaning up misses, it will only open things up further for our outside shooters and result in increases in assists.

Good analysis. Given the current makeup of the roster, I wonder if that 'other' guy will be a center. IMO, That seems to be the only position currently where there isn't a clear cut building block on the roster.

Steve and Barry's had a large store on the top floor in what was formerly Gimbell's near Herald Square. The store closed sometime in 2009. It had a LOT of great merchandise at affordable pricing. Very sorry to see it go out of business.

Wouldn't it make sense to wait until after the preseason camp is done and see the fallout that could come from that? Unless a 'can't miss' guy becomes available, there is not a need to fill those slots at this time.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion however I will trust that of Travis Schlenk. He's done a pretty good job putting this roster together thus far which says something about his talent evaluation (and the scouting teams') ability.

This could mean that the team is comfortable (at least at this time) going into camp with Len, Jones and Fernando as the primary centers with Collins playing spot duty during small ball lineups. Jones' health could be the wildcard in all of this.

It could suggest that he focused on getting his other teammates involved. Scoring stats by themselves does not tell the full story of a players contribution to the team.

Point taken! I'm looking at this from the perspective of the team(s). Luxury tax is REAL money that impacts the bottom line for a team. I'd question the risk of a max contract investment that could hamstring a team for the 2019-2020 season. It could pay off if he comes back at close to the level he is playing now. Instead of the risk being on KD, it would be on the team(s). That's probably why I am not a professional sports team GM because I look at the money as I do my own.

I think because of how the insurance works, it is in KD's best interest to opt into his Warriors contract then become a free agent in 2020. He gets his money and continues to rehab with a familiar medical team (assuming he has a good relationship with them). The Warriors will have a significant portion of his salary paid by insurance thus not impacting their finances. KD can sit out the entire 2019-2020 season then determine where he wants to go. Insurance should not be an issue if he sits out most if not all of the season.

Well stated! You changed my opinion to match yours. If we don't resign Dedmon, there are other centers like him that we could plug into that slot. Sekou is a risk also but like you suggest, he could be the next Giannis type of player in 2-3 years. I also think Len was a great signing for us. If he could be extended on a reasonable contract, I'd like to see that. On another note, is there a way to edit comments after they have been posted. That option exists on other boards I participate on however I did not see that on this one. It can be great if you notice grammatical errors/typos after posting.

I understand your rationale on Hayes but given his age, he could have a higher ceiling after being put on a nutrition program and with good coaching. It's hard forecasting what someone can be unless you know what is in their heart along with the work ethic they've demonstrated over time.

Glad to see the site back up! I've been in infrequent participant over the years however always enjoyed the insights found on this site. I was disappointed to see the Hawks fall in the draft lottery however remained philosophical in knowing that they have two Top Ten lottery picks. I'd like to see the Hawks draft a 2/3 with the 8th pick (CamR?) and a big with the 10th pick (JaxonH?), assuming they are available. If they could package one of these picks for another player (Bradley Beal?), I wouldn't mind that also. If they hold onto at least one of the 2nd round picks, I'd take a flyer on Tacko Fall, more out of curiosity. I think he could contribute for 10-15 minutes a game if given a chance.

I like some of the developing chemistry between Trae and Alex Len. Could he be the big man that grows old with this team?
