  1. Certainly Bud was dissapointed with the Ferry situation but I think he is, in many ways, looking forward to coaching a young core. It's something he can really put his stamp on, like Popovich did with the Spurs.
  2. Yes please. Although, I think his volt is a bit more green that what the Hawks use. Difficult to tell with that color.
  3. That seems about right. I'd have a hard time picking the over/under with any confidence.
  4. They will trade him before his contract expires, like they do with all their players.
  5. No it isnt. Players learn on the practice court and by studying the playbook. They execute what they've learned in a game. I do realize they can still learn things during a game but it is usually at the cost of a mistake. More to my original point, they don't gain strength in a game either. That is done in the gym with propper reps and recovery time. I feel like your are just arguing for the sake of argument at this point. We are way off the topic of this thread.
  6. Yes. Better rested with limited minutes.
  7. Yes. I answered "experience" because you specifically asked me for a reason, other than size, to start other PFs over JC. I'm a big JC fan already and he hasn't played a single NBA game. I hope he does average double didgets scoring and close to double didgit rebounds next year as you predicted. That would be terriffic. I also feel that it is in best interest to limited minutes during the first half of the season so he is better rested and able to get stronger and put in more time at "Hawks U". Doing this will reduce his immediate impact next year but increase his impact in the long term. I know we dissagree on the last point and I'm cool with that.
  8. @Peoriabird I'm not denying the kid can play and never said he can't score. Also, I'm not "making up reasons." I'm being realistic with my expectations for a 19 year old rookie and realize there will be areas that need improvement. Yes, he is strong for a rookie but that still makes him undersized, especially for a starter. The average weight for a NBA PF is 245. Milsap, who is two inches shorter, is 246. Blake Griffin is 251, Anthony Davis is 252, Kevin Love is 251, etc. If you want JC to be what we already have in Ilyasova, then go ahead and start the kid. If you want to develop him into the unstopable force he can become, then give him some time and the right conditioning. The good news is that he doesn't have far to go so he will get there sooner than later.
  9. Very impressed with JC but I can totally see him having limited minutes for at least the first half of the season, maybe longer. He needs to bulk up a bit to compete with some of the more physical forwards in the NBA and it would be difficult to gain weight playing full minutes during the season. Give the kid some time. There's no reason to rush him into the starting role. So, looking ahead to next year I would expect him to average 16 pts, 7 reb, and 3 assists next year. If he has like 4 or 5 assists that would be money.
  10. I caught the last 10 minutes of the game and Dennis honestly looked a bit stronger. Training camp doesn't start until the end of September so I'm sure he will put on a couple more pounds before then. Just have to be careful not to over do it and loose some quickness.
  11. I wouldn't put too much stock in players we aquire via trades this year. Schlenk will use our flexibility to facilitate other teams trades while getting pics in return. This means that most players we acquire won't be very desirable. That's my theory anyway. Now, during the next free agent period there is the opportunity to pick up quality talent at a reasonable price. That will be the real test.
  12. He didn't play well at all in SL. Still a little surprising the Hawks didn't keep him on the roster. Must be some other move or signing in the works. But, if not, then maybe the Hawks are just trying to remain flexible for the trade deadline.
  13. Bembry has way better handles. Childress was always a bit clumsy. I don't think you can say the 60 win team was Drews squad. Other than Horf and Teague, they were very different teams.
  14. Well, a focus on player development is deffinitly what you want in your G league coach.
  15. I like Kyrie but not sure I would give up Dennis for him. The ideal scenario would be to keep Dennis and play Kyrie at the 2, pretty much how we utilized Dennis and Teague.
  16. Yea, it sucks that the Hawks won't win a championship this year, but I'm totally on board with the rebuild at this point. It's always fun watching a young team develop and we have a great young core to start with year 1. To be honest, I can't wait for the season to begin so we can see what this team is capable of. All of this pontificating, while fun, doesn't mean squat.
  17. Yea. Good to know his history. Sounds like his heart is in the right place but he may make some poor decitions due to maturity. That will improve over time. Still excited about what he could become.
  18. I like our current unis and hope they don't change much.
  19. That dunk deserves all the love it is getting. I think Colons is officially on the radar for this years dunk compititon.
