  1. I'm optimistic about the tallent on this team. They just need better guidance. Here's a little piece of advice that I know has been brought up here. I wonder if it is being preached by our "defensive" coach: MOVE people. DON'T just stand there. Make it DIFFICULT for the opposition to guard you. Get OPEN when someone is double teamed and in trouble. Sheesh...
  2. Quote: We weren't supposed to beat GS tonite and if we continue to beat teams we have a better record than and lose to teams with better records than us, then we will finish 4 games below .500. Agreed. GS was looking for revenge after their home loss to the Hawks and they are trying to keep their playoff spot in the west. Next year, if we don't trounce them, I will be pissed. Quote: The good: -Marvin looked good for the 1st time in a long while 20pts....hitting his patented 20 footer -Horford was solid again......why didn't they go to him more on the block like Smitty was saying, when he had mismatches? -Joe looked great in the 1st half and hit a good percentage of 3's. Unfortunately he didn't realize when he cooled off and again lead he team in turnovers.....a guard shouldn't lead the team in TO's. -Yea, Marvin had a great game last night. He will be ridiculous if he can work on his 3's and low post game for next year. -Just wanted to add that Salim had a descent game. He didn't make many shots but got to the free throw line and had 12 points in 13 minutes of play. Now, if he would just bump up his assists. -Chidress can play D. The box scores don't show it, but he was on his man all the time, arms up, ready to pounce. Quote: The bad: -Bibby's worst game since being a Hawk. His shot was off for the 2nd straight game -Joe continues to ball hog and turnover the ball too much -Too much half court jumpshots and half coourt offence in the 2nd half. I guess Woodson decided he wanted to slow things down ??? -Where's The D? We had NO ANSWER to Golden State's perimeter shooting or for Baron Davis. -JJ let the Warriors trap him on several occasions. It was like he didn' t know how to handle the double team. I think that part of the problem is the lack of effort from the other Hawks to get open when JJ is in trouble. They all just stand around, someone HAS to be open. -Where's the D??? That's a good question. We left their shooters, not just Davis, wide open on several occasions. Why didn' the Hawks double team and harass Davis more? -Also, I don't understand why towards the end of the 4th we didn't put in Salim and Richardson and just start chucking up 3's. Sure, this is a bit of a desperation move but trading 2's with the Warriors wasn't working. -As stated above, we should have passed the ball to Horford more often.
  3. The Warriors were double teaming JJ all night. They had him trapped on several occasions and forced turnovers. Why the heck didn't the Hawks double team Davis more? I don't get it.
  4. You're my little miss sunshine Hotlanta1981.
  5. Yip, every game counts now. That's what makes this so exciting to watch. The Golden State game this evening is going to be a tough one. We beat them last time in their house, and I'm sure they remember that. They are also fighting to hold onto thier playoff spot in the West. In my opinion, GS is the better team this year. However, if the Hawks make the right moves the rolls will be reversed next year. I'll be at the game cheering for the Hawks and yelling at Golden State. Should be fun.
  6. Yea, this is assuming Woodson still wants this job. He my bow out to take a college coaching job after this mess. I do think that keeping Woodson wouldn't be too bad if we got an excellent offensive coach. But hey, I'm no expert. Honestly, at this point, I'm just enjoying the rest of the season. I want to see what these young players can do with Bibby at point. Whatever happens at the end of the season is basically up to the ASG.
  7. Yea, our D could improve. A good sign is how well we played D against the Celtics, especially in the first half. It seemed like everyone was anticipating the passes. Even Zaza got an intercept.
  8. The Hawks are getting lots of respect these days from other teams. I'm sure the opposition prepairs a lot more this year before a game than they did last year. Had JJ been hitting his shots yesterday, there's a very good chance we would have won that game. Chillz is consistant. I've loved that about him from day 1. No hate here.
  9. Quote: For the record, and I think that I speak for all my fellow fans, the people that hope we miss the playoffs still cheer for us to win every game we play. See, this doesn't make any sense to me. To each his own I guess. Quote: The only way we make the playoffs at this point is if New Jersey and Philadelphia loose like crazy, or if Bibby plays like he did against Sacramento for the rest of the year. I believe that we make the playoffs if the team plays their heart out every night. Let NJ and Philly worry about their own games.
  10. I for one didn't think the Hawks would be a shoe-in for the playoffs this year. I knew that it was going to be a fight to get in. Look how close we are. Every game counts at this point. Aren’t you excited about the playoff race and the fact that the Hawks are right there in it? If the Hawks were 10 games out I would understand your argument, but they are so close, why give up now? What happens to Woodson is between BK and the ASG. He's not guaranteed a job even if we do make the playoffs. I don't see why you want to penalize an entire team just to have one man fired. Seems a little selfish to me. Don't you want these young guys to get a taste of the playoffs? Even if they do get blown out, they'll know just how good they need to be and work that much harder. Only good things can come if they reach the playoffs this year.
  11. This is just a hunch, but I think that we will keep our core players for next season. This includes Marvin. Woodson will be replaced. BK and the ASG will want to see what a new coach can do with the same players (and hopefuly a new big, from where I don't know). If things aren't going well for some of the players by mid season, there's a good chance that they will be traded then. I'll admit that Mavin has some work to do, but he won't be traded away just yet. I like his determination and work ethic. This guy wants to win badly and will take the steps to get there.
  12. Dofan, I remember reading something like that. The article talked about experiments where the scientists were able to have a subatomic particle (I can't remember what type) exist in two places at once. Whatever they did to the one would happen to the other at the same instant. This is decades away from coming to the commercial market. Diesel, I agree that we are still in the infancy of computing. I've been around computers most of my life and its amazing how far they have progressed in such a short time. I can only imagine what things will be like in 30 to 50 years. By the way, it looks like Quantum computing will be the answer to your question about multiple states. From Wikipedia: "A classical computer has a memory made up of bits, where each bit holds either a one or a zero. A quantum computer maintains a sequence of qubits. A single qubit can hold a one, a zero, or, crucially, a quantum superposition of these, allowing for an infinite number of states. A quantum computer operates by manipulating those qubits with (possibly a suite of) quantum logic gates."
  13. Oh boy, it would take a few pages to explain everything behind binary Basically it has to do with electricity. There's either an electron there or there isn't. The switch is either ON or OFF. Your CPU is comprised of billions of tiny circuites called call "Boolean Gates". There are AND, OR, X-OR, NOR, and NAND gates to name the common ones. Electrons travel through these gates and, depending on what gates they go through, the result is either a 1 or a 0 (ON or OFF). The result is written to the CPU's internal memory, also known as its "registry". All of this combined allows your CPU to do basic math. Because there are so many gates in modern compuers, it can do many simultaneous calculations a second. Here's a good descriptoin of boolean logic: http://computer.howstuffworks.com/boolean1.htm The next step up from Binary is Assembly code. With Assembly, you can tell the CPU what registries to look in for your inital values, what to do with the values, and where to output. Assembly lies behind all modern programming languages out there today. Okay, its been about 5 to 6 years since I studied this stuff, but I hope this helps some. You may want to pick up a book if you are realy interested. That's an interesting idea about a 3rd state. What you you call it though? On, Off, and Maybe? I'm not sure if it is possible, maybe with Quantum computing where a state can exist in two paces at once. This is the reason why Quantum computers will be incredibly fast. Imagine an internet where the web page basically exists on the server and your computer at the same time. Instantaneous transmission of data. I don't know much about m-ram or if it will come to market. But if more RAM is what you're looking for, the wait may not be far off. Check this out. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080...-8gb-dimms.html Sorry if I rambled on here. I'm a little bored at work today.

    Good Win.

Yip, great game. Mario came out like a beast. 5 Rebounds in 16 minutes of play from a shooting guard!! Solo got some minutes and was %100 shooting (Okay, it was 1 for 1 but he nailed it). Someone give this kidd the ball on offence. Now, if he just worked on his rebounding he would be amazing. Joe and Bibby were making 3's all over the place in the first quarter. They contributed 50 points combined (JJ:26, Bibby:24) 3 Players with Double-Doubles: Josh Smith, Al Horford, and Mike Bibby. J-Chill with a solid 25 points. 10 of 11 free throws made.
  15. Yea, you've got to love this guys winning attitude. I'm glad that Horford isn't afraid to speak his mind as well. Last night toward the end of the game, Horford was at the free throw line and after his first shot some of the other Hawks came towards him to give him to give him dabs; as seems to be the ritual these days. Instead of aproaching them, Horford just waived them off with a smile and seemed to mouth the words "I'm okay". I'm sure no disrespect was intended, he probably just felt that he didn't need the extra encouragement.
  16. The Hawks are shooting %80 from beyond he arch so far tonight. All Joe and Bibby.
  17. Man, up by 11. They need to run the full court press here with Mario on the floor.
  18. Dizzzaaamm, Mario!! With the steal and the 3 point play.
  19. Hmmmm, we could see some action from Solo tonight.
  20. I'm not a hughe fan of Woody or BK, but I've never heard them complain about being the youngest team. They expect their players to deliver no matter what their age. Heck, they start a rookie, Horford, because they know that he can produce. You produce, you get to play.
  21. Quote: John Hollinger: I'll go Atlanta and Chicago because I think their deals made them a tad better than the rest of the Eastern riffraff, but I wouldn't want to bet anything important on this. Those games against Chicago are going to be pretty important for the Hawks. I think they can do it though.
  22. Bring on Coal Gasification and Hydogen-Electric cars. http://www.fossil.energy.gov/programs/powe...tion/index.html I'm not sure why Woody doesn't play Solo. Maybe Solo needs to put on a bit more weight first. Who knows?
