  1. Young, talented, good defender, size .. ideal for our 3rd PG, should we give him a chance? Much better than Daniel Hamilton, out performed our Guards at Summer league

    What if....

What I really think is this team is vey difficult to project, brand new team We have flaws, young players, inexperienced coach, team not proven, lack a star, lack a go to player, lack defense.... But we have some strenghts too, true PG, good shooting, up and coming player on John Collins, size inside and on the wings, depth, 2 good players for every position, a wild card at PG... I think Young and Collins can meet above expectations, Prince can stay on last years performance, Baze and Dedmon will do the same, Anderson, Lin and Len are great additions and I have some faith on the rookies and Bembry. All the guys are focusing on flaws and forgetting the strenghts, the truth is novbody can project what this team is going to do and although 25 wins might be a realistic scenario I don’t think fighting for a playoff spot on the east can be discarded. Last year playoff was 43 wins.

    What if....

Trae meets some expectations and average 16ppg, 7 apg with decent percentages Prince performs as in the 2nd half of the season, 19ppg, 5 rog John Collins steps up and average 16 ppg, 10 rpg and shows his game, I think this is happening anyway. Dedmon and Baze performs as last year Len improves slightly his numbers this season as he has done all seasons. Lin play 65 games and performs near his best days, 14ppg, 5 apg. Anderson is a valuable player Huerter and Spellman are players that contribute this year and complement this 8. If that happens and I do not think is unrealistic, where would be all the negativism on this forum? Hawks could win 40 games, I don’t think is happenning and probably chances are low but definately cannot be discarded, is not unrealistic. Am I the only one that is eager to see this team play?
  4. I like Dedmon but I think Len is a better player. With a true PG his PNR game will show up more, I think we got a steal. His stats are already better than Dedmon on 36 min sample. Only question mark is his durability. I think we could have got a steal as Demarre Carroll.

Guys, do you realize Len per 36 avg are 15 ppg, 13,5 rpg, 1,6 bpg? Much better stats than Dedmon

There are going to be posts in 2 months saying I cannot believe Phoenix let Len go. Mark my words.
  7. Calderon, Rubio, Ibaka, Mirotic, Hernan Gomez brothers, Navarro....all play for Spanish team and are on the NBA, the list is long... players with limited success at Spanish league and Euroleague have had succesful careers at NBA and none of them, Gasol brothers included showed the level of dominance of Doncic
  8. If we are going to be so bad next year we will be Trae Young Barrett/Huerter Prince Collins/Spellman Gafford/Len Sounds good to me on paper, I think in 2 years Collins can be a 18 ppg, 12 rpg, 1bpg, 1spg Prince can be a 18 ppg, 5 rpg, 3apg, 2spg Young can be a 15 ppg, 9apg, 1spg Huerter, Len and Spellman can be role players. If we are so bad that we manage to land a top pick 1st or 2nd and land Barrett or Reddish and Gafford or Bol... and suddenly you have 5 quality players and 3 good role players any FA would consider Atlanta as Jimmy Butler considered Minnesota with much less talent
  9. We were going nowhere, we had to restructure. Now is going to be much easier to get FA here if we have a team full of talent, Collins, Prince, Len, hopefully Young and Huerter and also Spellman are steps on the right direction, if we manage to add another 2 good pieces next year, suddenly you have a strong core of 8 players, add a good FA and suddenly you are considered as an attractive destination.
  10. I agree with the article, we should not have trade Doncic. Better draft would have been Doncic, Holiday, Spellman or Diop and Mitchell Robinson, hands down, Doncic will be a superstar, I have no doubt about it, I knew Robinson would slip and could be a good prospect, we did not have any prospect at C. Trades are also bad, Howard, Schröder... I dont agree they did not have any trade value, what we got in return is really bad. Look at the Nets, that was a good trade, Faried could be valuable for us. Anyway I am still optimistic, I believe on Collins and Prince, I believe in Spellman as a contributor, I like Len addition but I still have high doubts about Young and Huerter.
  11. I can see Hawks trading with NO, I would like NO to add Diallo and a first on the trade and we can take Hill contract. NO needs help on the wing and we need to add some talent, the trade makes sense for both teams
  12. I think Young plays 25-30mpg untim Lin is back on shape, then goes down and again up at the end of season if Lin is not injured earlier Huerter 20-22 mpg, perhaps at the beginning only 18 Spellman 18-22 mpg. Even with that we stay competitive, 30 wins is possible
  13. Len per 36 stats are better on evey category than Dedmon and everybody agreed Dedmon was a good signing, only stat Dedmon has a small advantage is FG% 0,590vs 0,560 fist time we have 2 Centers with size that can start. Pairing him with a good PNR PG as Lin or Young is going to do wonders for him. Anderson is Baze 2.0 and has the size to guard SF, huge upgrade at backup SF over Babbit, Brussino or whoever. He did a good job at Dallas and play some good ball at Phily, he is going to surprise a lot of guys here. Lin if he can stay healthy can be a good PG, the duo Young\Lin is an upgrade on my mind. I said before, our 2nd unit can win 10 games for us this year. Young/Huerter/Anderson/Spellman/Len is the best 2nd lineup we have had in years.
  14. Len, Lin, Anderson are signings that will keep us competitive, we have a better team than last year and probably a better starting 5 just due to Collins and Prince development, I don't think we lose so much by replacing Dennis with Lin
  15. There has been a change, positive change. Now we are adding players that could be on other rosters like Anderson, Len, Lin... Last years we signed guys noone else would have signed and they performed well but there was better talent out there. Now we are adding good young players like Len, giving them the opportunity to shine. We are adding talent and suddenly we are deep. Lin/Young/Hamilton Baze/Huerter/Dorsey Prince/Anderson/Bembry Collins/Spellman/Poythress Dedmon/Len/Plumlee Suddenly our 2nd unit looks the best we have had in 10 years in terms of young talent and the 3rd unit has players that have played on NBA for some seasons. We are adding talent, giving opportunities to young players to shine and establish as valuable pieces for the future. This is the right way to go, that does not mean we are going to playoffs but we are not set to lose 65 games. This team can exceed expectationa and if Lin, Anderson and Len stay healthy I could see this team winning 32-40 games. I don't think is happenning because I think they would trade Baze and Dedmon if that happen but eventually we could. We will end with a top 5 and top 14 pick next year, a wing and a Center, Barrett and Gafford is my dream and we will be loaded with talent to make a run to tue playoffs with a new coach.
  16. If we could add Chistian Wood and forget about Plumlee that would be a fantastic rotation
  17. Len is better than Muscala, a true center, he is a huge upgrade, better defense, rebounding and PNR, he is a huge addition. Collins is much better than last year and Spellman is a good player, our frontcourt is going to look much better than last year, most improved positions on the team
  18. Lin/Young > Dennis/Taylor Baze/Huerter < Baze/Bellinelli Prince/Anderson > Prince/Bembry Collins/Spellman > Collins\Ilyasova Dedmon/Len >> Dedmon/Muscala I think we are better than last team, if Lin and Len are healthy and Bembry contibutes we could win much more games than 22
  19. Hey first time I guessed a FA signing, so glad we got Len, itbwas obvius he was a good guy for usband we were a fantastic landing team for him. Watch out the Hawks, this team is beginning to look ok, we could surprise some teams Lin/Young Baze/Huerter Prince/Anderson/Bembry Collins/Spellman Dedmon/Len Love our 2nd unit
  20. Wow cannot believe I guessed this signing, it was so obvius. I am stunned we got this guy, he has potential to be a quality big for an awesome deal, sure he cannot shoot 3s but can rebound and block shots, great signing
  21. Let ne explain completely, if there is 15 min for grab I would give that to a young player rather than to Plumlee, what can happen? At the very best we could develop a rotation player, at worst we are exactly like now. Richaun Holmes fot traded to Phoenix, they are not resigning Len or Williams. Len, Vonleh, Williams are the best young bigs out there, every team has a development big, we could have drafted Mitchell Robinson and fill that need.
  22. The need is really a Center, a defensive big. Collins and Spellman will split minutes at PF, even Prince can play some in small ball, Center is for Dedmon, some Spellman and the big we need to sign. 30 min for Collins, 30 for Dedmon, 20 for Spellman, still 16 min for other player, a defensive big.
  23. Alan Williams, Len, Vonleh... Young players we could try, all can become valuable players, I would only sign one
  24. As I said on other post, already better than Dorsey and Bembry, for me is a draw with Baze at a much smaller salary. More Size, more athletic, can play defense and shoots well, with Lin and Trae he could flourish. He can really play SG and SF not as Baze that can only play SG. He is a huge upgrade at wing position, one of those players good teams have on their bench. Do not understimate the possible contribution of this guy with this team. On a side note I still hope Bembry can become a valuable player, defensive player that can penetrate and dish the ball if he improves his shooting watch out, good compliment to Young in fact he could be the perfect SG for Trae
  25. Sorry Alan Williams
