Official Game Thread: Hawks at Pelicans (7 PM EST Tip!)
aali34 replied to lethalweapon3's topic in Homecourt
JC was more of a high percentage shooter vs output even when he was shooting well. 40% shooting is nice, but it's a bit like fools gold when you only take 3 a game and you're not contested.- 411 replies

JJ winning MIP

Never-mind sticking, King Kong will never even get acknowledged as a potential nickname. If you want him to drop Big O, you're gonna have to think of something different.
-
This sounds alot like Cam
-
He can also make quick decisions/reads with the ball
-
Examples please
-
Since he doesn't attack the paint well, he's not only gotta improve his handle, but his strength and touch. It's great that he's an elite midrange shooter, but he needs to be able to get to those spots on the floor better.
-
I expect a good year from Hunter this season. If he doesn't add much over the offseason, I'd still expect a better season than last year just cause of the coaching change. Having Quin being able to put him in actual spots on the floor that would suit his scoring profile would make a big difference for him.

Discussion about Hunter and Trae (split off from insider thread)
aali34 replied to TheNorthCydeRises's topic in Homecourt
Which of the two would you say is living up to their contract better? People have criticisms of both. -
Thats alot to carry. We're gonna need another defender off the bench for sure.
-
@NBASupes If we get KAT our offense blows through the roof, but our defense takes a massive beating. Does the front office feel confident that a team with Trae and KAT can win a chip?
-
Thats some real shit that I wouldn't do lmao. Dejounte a real one
-
I saw him liking a couple tweets alluding to that too. Why would he leave money on the table?
-
That one is false just looking at the @ handle. Here's the real one. Please don't trade for Siakam
-
I can't quote or add any emojis as reactions for some reason @AHF Wanted to say that when dude in the vid above said JC can pass and dribble I stopped watching.

Trae DJM Hunter Jae Crowder Capela
-
I personally don't want someone at the 4 who'd be a longterm starter. Get me a vet stop gap who can contribute like Jae Crowder and groom JJ for that spot. Watching the Denver finals makes it obvious how the secondary pieces on a team should compliment the superstar's playstyle. MPJ and Jamal Murray are microwave scorers that benefit from Jokic's methodical playstyle. JJ's ability to push the pace, attack the rim, collapse on kickouts, and create for others from the pf position is a great release valve for Trae's explosive style. The biggest problem we've had with our frontcourt is that JC, Dre and CC can't pass/playmake for shit. He does more with the ball in this vid then JC did with his whole career. I wouldn't be surprised if that trade exception isn't used right off the bat either. You could potentially use it on top of one of CC or Dre to bring in a big difference maker at some point this year.

This could be the David Lee trade for gsw that set up room for Draymond Green to shine. It depends on if JJ is ready. I will say that this is a lesson to not shop players publicly for consecutive years if you aren't committed to getting rid of them. The logic was always "JC is too good for what we're getting offered, so we'll wait and see". That approach only led to our cap situation getting worse and teams getting stingier. Same thing just happened with Beal. You got more for dumping Cam Reddish.
-
Whyd he go so low?
-
Out of him, Deandre, and Cam, he's the only guy that actually plays to his size. Zero softness in his game.
-
Wow Ingram missed that same shot last time too to put the game away.

Don't forget that Trae wanted Dejounte here. That tells me he's willing and eager to change his game to accommodate him. Trae seems to respond well to people he respects. His floor game improved dramatically when Nate became the HC and Lloyd was let go. It's only a matter of time before something clicks and he learns how to remain aggressive while playing off of DJM and everyone else. Yall should be happy that you get front row seats to the development of an all around offensive assassin.
