  1. Ok. So I guess the rest of us are just left to assume he agreed with you and everything you said is correct. Not usually how discussions work but I can dig it if that's the case.
  2. Can I just say that when you are having a conversation with someone that others are interested in, you deciding to take a side bar and finish said conversation in private is less than helpful.
  3. I don't see the fit with Edwards and the Hawks unless they have other deals to send out kevin or Bogie in the works. If they are trading JC, I'd rather they look at young wings like MPJ in Denver, Bridges in Phx, or even Markannen in Chi. Edwards has high upside but to this point its still all potential. I like him a lot, but not sure he's at all what the Hawks need. And like you, I'm leaning toward just keeping JC. Match whatever offer he gets in the marketplace and then, they can trade him later if they choose to.
  4. If Hunter plays this Thursday I'll take back every side-eyed stare I've thrown at Chelsea Lane. Holy crap that would be HUGE.
  5. Drinking from my glass half full cup this morning, I'll say it's a dang good thing Trae and JC only missed 2 games combined. Imagine if JC and Trae had missed a combined 28 games but Rondo and Gallo has missed only 2.
  6. Not sure how truthful it is, but the rumors coming out of SA (Shams maybe?) after they made the announcement to part ways, indicated that LA wanted to be a starter while SA wanted to focus on their young players. If that's true, I'm not sure why he'd choose the Hawks when the most they could offer is backup with maybe 20-22 minutes. Again, no idea if it's true. My guess is he'll HAVE to settle for a back up role and will choose to do so with a contender rather than a fringe playoff team.
  7. So after watching both videos, I think I counted 10 total shots that came with 18 or more seconds on the shot clock and no one under the basket to rebound. Trae went 5-10 on those. I'm surprised by that. I guess I only remember the misses. Haha. Also surprising is his failure from the top of the key compared to the elbows.
  8. I've still not seen anything persuasive that says Cam is clearly ahead of Snell in the pecking order in the near term. Over the long term, sure. But the goal is and has always been to make the playoffs. Just because it was assumed (based on the last half of last year) that Cam would be a part time starter or play a huge role at the beginning of the season, it does not necessarily follow that that is still the case today when by nearly every metric he has struggled mightily. Snell's consistent shooting from distance has value. It's probably not as much as we all think considering his relatively small volume per game, but he's still the highest % player on the team. He's a guy opponents have to account for as Toronto learned the hard way. That's WAY more the case for him than for Bogie or Cam and sometimes more the case for him than Kevin (exceptions are when Kevin is actually on since he's a streaky shooter). My guess is he will continue to see around 20-24 min/gm even when Hunter comes back. And BTW, I'm not saying he shouldn't be traded for a more useful player. I'm more saying I don't think the Hawks WILL trade him and therefore I think he will continue to play a part and not really lose minutes.
  9. The ones that irritate me are the early clock, no one under the basket 3's. I don't know how to look it up, but I'd guess his make % on those is well below 37%. Especially early in the game. But it also seems like he's cut down on those quite a bit this year.
  10. On a related topic.... I can't find league wide stats for this (I think they are behind a pay wall somewhere), but I did look up Trae, Steph, and Dame as they are widely regarded as the 3 players that take the most 30+ foot shots. Trae: 17-46 for 37% Dame: 23-67 for 34% Steph: 16-47 for 34% (if you exclude 40+ foot shots Steph is actually at 41% though) So Trae is most likely either leading the NBA or 2nd in the NBA in 3pt% beyond 30 feet (depending on whether you want to include 40+ or not). But perhaps more importantly, his make % is the same or slightly higher than his make % from shorter distances. So it's not like for Trae these are comparatively bad shots. Just saying.
  11. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. None of that is even remotely true. If you care to read the things I've actually stated, none of them say that assists are bad or that Trae has to score a certain number of points for the Hawks to win. Or that he's has to ONLY take long 3's. I've said they aren't bad because they aren't. But I've also said he needs to focus on attacking the lane and putting the defense in a bind with his floater. At this point, I think you've convinced yourself of what you THINK my argument is and there's no changing that. But you have deviated very far from what I've actually said. And no, I'm not going to restate it. You can go find the 17 other posts where I've painstakingly walked you through it only to get to the end you miss the entire thing.
  12. I'm assuming this is directed at me since I mistakenly said plus minus in my post above when I actually meant the on/off data. I've never liked plus minus as a stat for individual players (but I'm less opposed if looking at combinations of players). Regardless, twas not my intention above to cite plus minus. Just a mistake.
  13. From today's The Athletic article: (Listed under the "Likeliest Trade Candidates" section) Tony Snell ($12.2 million) — Who would have predicted Snell was going to be an important player for the Hawks this season? He’s played very well in the extended absences of Hunter and Cam Reddish and has found himself in the starting lineup because of their injuries. Snell is shooting 57 percent from 3 this season and has been a positive defensively. Snell is on an expiring contract and his value for the Hawks is going to take a hit when Hunter and Kris Dunn are able to come back, so if Atlanta could extract some value in a trade for him, it should do so. Pairing Snell and Collins in any trade could bring back just over $21 million in salary. I maintain his shooting has value for the Hawks, but we'll see how it plays out.
  14. Not before I posted. But now that I have....I stand by my comments. You still don't get it. And thats fine. I'm done trying to explain it to you. How about this. So as to help the board, why don't you refrain from attributing things you don't understand to me (even in your patented passive aggressive ways), and I'll stop responding to you. Deal?
  15. I mean, if you stop mis-stating what I say we wouldn't have any issues. But if you continue to attribute things that I don't say to me that are ridiculous, yeah, I'm gonna correct you. Sorry. You are probably the only poster that doesn't understand what I'm saying. Not everyone agrees (see spud) and thats fine. But at some point, the not understanding is no longer on me. It's on you.
  16. You're right. His 28 pts had nothing to do with the win. Just like his 37 pts vs Tor had nothing to do with him drawing 4 defenders so Snell could drain a wide open 3 to win by 1. I swear I'm starting to think you are just being intentionally difficult. No way someone could actually not understand this many times.
  17. Because the Hawks need his offense too. And both my eyeballs and the data say that he's most productive when he gets going offensively first and then gets his teammates involved. And because his teammates are incredibly inconsistent so "making the right play" - to the extent that it means passing to the open player - isn't necessarily always the right play. And because despite tonight's outlier results, the likelihood of Trae scoring 14 points and the Hawks winning on a nightly basis is very low. And I prefer a strategy that gives them the best chance at winning. I am not now and have never said he shouldn't get his teammates involved. I am not now and never have said he has to score 32 for the Hawks to win.
  18. Nope. Not a clue. But he has no problem incorrectly attributing weird ideas to me.
  19. It is an unequivocal fact that the Hawks are 12-0 when he scores 32 pts. The fact that you keep denying it just makes you look foolish. For the record (and where you continually misrepresent me), I've never said he has to score 32 for them to win. Never. Not once. You can't find a single time where I've said that. What I have said is that A. the Hawks are undefeated when he does score 32, but more importantly, B. the Hawks have the best chance to win when he has a score first mentality that allows him to use that to his advantage to get the rest of his teammates involved. That you continually take an all or nothing approach in quoting me is completely missing the point and is, frankly,, just humorous at this point. I can confidently say you have no idea what my point is as you have not one single time actually stated what I've said. Whether that ignorance is willful or not is still on question.
  20. As usual you mischaracterize what is said. I'm not sure if you are being intentionally obtuse or if you really don't understand what is said. Sigh. I'm afraid continuing to try to explain it to you is a lost cause.
  21. Hey man, we all celebrating tonight. I got no complaints. Like I said to the other dude, you promise me they can hold every opponent to 82 pts and I'll gladly agree Trae can score 14 pts and feel good about the potential for a win. Some of yall just weird tho acting like this game proves some sort of point.
  22. I mean....if you promise me they'll hold every team to sub 90 pts then I'll happily go along with Trae only scoring 14 a game. But thats not realistic.
  23. Not exactly what was said, but you know that. Regardless we can all agree its great however the Hawks win.
  24. Anytime Trae gives it up it seems 50/50 for a violation.
