  1. I'm getting a little concerned now. I'm baffled at the fact this happened a month ago and yet the Hawks organization didn't get ahead of this when they had the chance to deal with it behind closed doors. Now it's in the hands of professional talking heads and internet trolls who will have no issue taking a massive dump on the Atlanta Hawks. All that effort to regain credibility as an organization and generate good PR over the past few seasons, and now this? This isn't a good look for the Hawks.
  2. If that were the case, why on Earth would a Hawks executive be complicit in a plot to dismantle his own team?
  3. +1000 to this. The Hawks are right in the middle of making some pivotal decisions that could make or break this franchise. This is a potential distraction at a time when we need the GM to be focused on the minute details of any trade offers to ensure we don't get screwed over. This really isn't a good time for this.
  4. Wilcox is a basketball executive who was talking to season ticket holders at a Hawks related event. He changed the narrative by not sticking to basketball. It's nobody's fault but his own. No other organization seems to have these problems.
  5. "You might want to watch your tone Baze. You can get it too"
  6. I'm with you 100% as far as moving on, but you have to admit it does sting a little to see how many times the Hawks were 'that close' to getting a franchise changing player. I don't believe in curses but it's almost uncanny how this always happens to the Hawks. The Chris Paul debacle was inexcusable after he reportedly had a great workout and publicly said he would love to play in Atlanta at a time when NOBODY wanted to come to Atlanta. Even when we got it "right" by drafting Horf at #3, Kevin Durant was right there at #2 just out of reach. We had dibs on Porzingis when he was virtually unknown. He pulls out of the Draft and gets picked at #4 the following season! It makes you wonder what this franchise would look like if just one of those players ended up in a Hawks uniform.
  7. True, but it's the still the Celtics. As much as I'd love to see Jaylen Brown in a Hawks uniform, I cannot co-sign making any trades that benefit the Celtics in any way.
  8. That's actually a pretty good article from Cviv. It looks like Bud was pretty frank with Milsap about the fact that they are listening to offers. At least that's what I got from it. I hate that it has to be that way, but I'm not sure how much talent the Hawks can afford to lose for nothing before the bottom falls out.
  9. Well, this thread went from 0 to 100 really quick.
  10. Ok, I feel slightly better about letting this season play out with Sap on the roster after this. This is extremely risky and basically puts the Hawks organization at Sap's mercy. If this franchise gets screwed again during free agency, they have every right to trade whoever whenever they want to protect the team from now on.
  11. We would've drafted Porzingis if he hadn't pulled out of the Draft. The Hawks also drafted Marvelous instead of Paul, who actually WANTED to play here. So many missed opportunities over the years.
  12. If you have a chance to get a superstar, YOU GET THAT SUPERSTAR. Dennis has exceeded my expectations, at least as far as scoring is concerned, but let's not pretend that he's a floor general or anything. Kyrie is virtually unstoppable while distributing enough to be counted as a legit PG. I'd make that trade in a heartbeat.
  13. +1000 to this. Agendasquawk in a nutshell. The mental gymnastics in this thread would make Simone Biles jealous.
  14. If they continue to display low BBIQ on offense and defense, then yes this is exactly what they are. There's no way they should've lost this game after beating the Raptors. Dumb turnovers, bad shots, and Dwight only getting 6 shots after having a monster game the night before are all issues that should be concerning to Hawks fans because they keep happening over and over again. I'm all for being patient with this team due to the changes made during the offseason, but they can't keep taking two steps back for every step they take forward or else they're going to end up in the lottery.
  15. So you want 20 and 12.5 from a guy that you don't want featured in the offense? He could get that easily if he got more than 9 shots a game.
  16. This is the type of post the 'Squawk needs more of. No agenda, just pure fundamental basketball. The Hawks are making the game harder than what it has to be by not adapting to the current personnel. No matter what the 'play' is, if the big man has his defender sealed in the post, you get it to him. There is no other option. Howard's 'up and down' offensive game has little to do with him personally. He just dunks and/or banks it off the glass. That's it. He doesn't have to get 'hot' from the outside or get his offense going. He converts at a high percentage but HE NEEDS THE BALL IN ORDER TO DO THAT CONSISTENTLY. Most here on the 'Squawk criticized Houston/Harden for how Howard was utilized there, but seem to have no issue with Dwight only averaging 9 shots a game here. Then we criticize him for his 'inconsistent' play. Really?
  17. RIP. I knew it was going to happen but it still seems so sudden. 2016 hasn't been a very good year.

    FIRESALE!

We may be ignoring the elephant in the room here. Sap is GONE after this season. I just know it. I hate that he's leaving, but I can no longer tolerate players bolting via free agency and leaving the Hawks high and dry. That's why this team is the way it is right now. Say what you want about Smoove and Horford, but those guys were worth picks/players that could've helped the Hawks and they walked for NOTHING. I no longer care if anyone from this team gets traded to a 'garbage' team in exchange for valuable assets. I've learned there's no room for emotions in business. I say all of that to say this: TRADE SAP WHILE YOU CAN EVEN IF IT HURTS THE TEAM IN THE SHORT TERM.
  19. Fake hustle. You sit down in a defensive stance and wave your arms around while looking 'locked in'. Hey, you can even slap the court or clap your hands for dramatic effect. I know when I see it because I've done it many times.
  20. +1000 to this post. It's time to either get more talent or play the talent we drafted.
  21. That is completely unacceptable. Why bench him if he's going to play MORE minutes anyway? Even with Baze being out that should mean more minutes for Prince. Man, I'm getting a little concerned about Bud to be completely honest.
  22. Only difference is Smoove actually produced despite his flaws. I'm starting to wonder what Baze really brings besides energy. Much like Smoove, the negatives are starting to outweigh the positives. He's becoming a liability.
  23. +1000 to this. Man this past offseason was insane. I just can't bring myself to co-sign all of the bloated contracts that were given to lower level players. No offense to Baze. I was a little squeamish about giving Schro all of that $$$ when I honestly thought he had a 50/50 shot at being a long term solution at PG. But it's not my money.
