Salary cap woes

Multiple teams that ended up with poor records are strapped when it comes to cap space: NY, Philly, Rockets, Blazers and others. They are in a tough spot. And you have to think that they are gonna make some changes that could be an opportunity for the Hawks. Seatle is also gonna have a hard time resigning Wilcox without going over the cap significantly. Looks like the Hawks are in a good position to deal with their cap space and draft pick.

Who exactly represents the opportunity for the Hawks from the team's you mentioned?

I do not see Billy Knight helping any of those teams out by taking any of their overpaid, long term, salary cap busting, future killing contracts.

There are opportunities, apart from taking on contracts like Stephon Marbury.

In 2005 Phoenix sent the #7 pick in the draft to the Bulls for a future conditional 1st round pick. Teams have been known to trade out of the draft so that they don't have to pay guaranteed contracts to guys who are just going to ride the pine. Also, there are guys on rosters of good teams that could be significant contributors on other teams.

Anytime you have capspace like we do there is always opportunities to improve your roster on your terms.

I think their ownership is going to get rid of Ray Allen. He's too much of a financial burden to have on that team. The only problem is that Allen is a Sg and most teams have a franchise 2. Even us. Plus they would have to find a major ending contract. Maybe Grant Hill and a pick for Ray Allen??
