Thoughts on Gasol for #3 and such.

Boston's offer at this point is likely: #5, Green, Theo (expiring contract)

The Hawks' offer should be #3, Zaza, Lue, Childress

You can say what you want about Gasol's defense, but he's going to be a better center than Zaza any day of the week because he can at least alter shots.

#3 > #5

Zaza > Theo

Lue + Childress > Green

The question is - do you think that's too much for Gasol?

I do. I'm pretty much all set with Gasol. I'd just as soon keep our picks- or if we're bound and determined to trade, look in another direction.

If we could pull off #3, Zaza, and Lue for Pau, that would be huge. A lineup of Conley/Law, JJ, Marvin, Josh Smith, and Gasol with Childress off the bench would be sweet.

If the Celtics really want Yi then maybe the Hawks could trade the 3 pick for Al Jefferson. This would give them a young post presence. It would force them to make some other moves because Jefferson is definitely a power forward, but it would be something to think about.

That is why I think Boston has a good long-term outlook despite getting punked in the lottery. If Jefferson continues to develop he will be devestating down low, especially with shooters like Pierce and Green and a penetrator like Rondo.

I agree, I don't think they would trade Jefferson (it would be foolish). But, if Ainge really wants Yi or someone else . . .

If someone wants to move up, they are going to have to pay. Any team that wants to move up must take Claxton.

If anyone wants the 3rd pick of the draft, we have to demand premium price for it. Unless its for a guy like Gasol or something of that ilk, I wouldn't budge one bit.

Although I will say that Gasol might make a little too much for us considering what Smith is going to want. Is JJ/Smith/Gasol a good enough core to win big with?

The million dollar question is.....what is Marvin worth? If the BPA is our direction with our 1st pick and it is a forward, we have to find a way to turn Marvin into something logical for the roster.
